Eventually ALL of them. Thankfully I no longer have the "privilege" of cleaning toilets or mopping piss off the floor where "short" guys couldn't hit the urinal. Nor do I have the "privilege" of shoveling snow off the sidewalk in winter. And I willingly gave up the privilege of holding down a chair for two hour snooze fests.

Do you play the LOTTERY?
by Fisherman injw view gambling as a sin and sadly people get addicted to gambling causing them financial and health problems.
but is playing a couple of bucks a week on some lottery tickets actually gambling?
what do you have to lose?
-
FedUpJW
Nope, don't play lottery or any other small betting games. Has nothing to do with having been a hard-core JW in the past. I was told once by a guy I worked with, "You can't win if you don't play." My reply was, "YOU play, and YOU haven't won yet. I don't play and I haven't LOST. So I guess I am a winner!"

What is Self-deception?
by Kosonen ini googles about self-deception and found many articles about it.
it is a thing reseachers in psychology have studied.. here is a quote from an article that describes it.
and it is interesting because of so many ideas about how to understand the bible.

You are a liar and a sicko.
Am I the only one either here, or on other sites, that notices when someone begins to feel they have lost a debate they always resort to name calling?

In Response to Anony Mous regarding the 144,000 and other questions...
by EasyPrompt instill, you hold onto false teachings of the wtbts which are only there for the enrichment of its chiefs.. as pointed out, the rest of the book of revelation is figurative, yet you hold that the number 144,000 is literal.
the wtbts currently says that this number is limited to those running the wtbts and that anyone claiming to be part of it outside that self-selecting group could be mentally ill.. by what reasoning (not from wtbts origin) do you believe only 144,000 people will be ‘saved’, and how do you know who is part of this self-selected group, given virtually no other religious denomination does even remotely believe in the literalism of revelation.
do they have to be jws?

144,000-literal or figurative?
It DOESN'T matter! You and I ain't part of it!
A "great crowd" which no man was able to number? Now that's funny. Especially given that the WT has in fact put a number on them today. They are the baptized JW's who in their own literature are claimed to be the ONLY ones worthy of any salvation. Now "nu-lite" says that even death (the penalty for sin) does not pay that debt any longer. To buy into the ever changing WT interpretations of anything is a pretty lame way to live.

Sign of the Last Days
by Fisherman inin the sermon on the mount, jesus foretold that earthquakes “in one place after another” would be part of the sign of the last days clímaxing in the great tribulation.. what could jesus possibly have meant?
using a phone app nowadays, there are earthquakes detected in one place after another but is this what jesus meant and did they have so many earthquakes throughout the centuries affter his prophecy or are these modern day detected earthquakes unique to this epoch?
how can we be sure unequivocally that modern day earthquakes are part of the sign fulfilling bible prophecy?.

At some time in the next year there will be days where it rains. And days when it's sunny. It will also get cold for a while then get warm again. Also there will be reports of snow somewhere and reports of drought elsewhere..
That's just "climate change".

That is not an unreasonable understanding of Paul's words that an overseer should be "a husband of one wife"
You cannot be serious! If THAT is reasonable, then it would follow that NO SINGLE MAN would ever be appointed. He doesn't even have ONE wife!
I would bet you were or would make a great JW elder though.

I can’t understand what they were thinking when they appointed him.
They weren't! To hear then tell it men are appointed by Holy Spirit. I know a guy who not so long ago was informed that he would not ever be appointed because one of the requirements was to be a husband of ONE WIFE, and he had been married twice. He was therefore the husband of TWO WIVES, although not at the same time.
To refresh our memories, in the event we may have forgotten, there is NO HOLY SPIRIT directing these men.

If JW is not the truth, then what is the true religion?
by TxNVSue2023 ineven though i'm disfellowshiped ( & i belive wrongfully so).
i still belive this is the truth.

It was near 100 degrees today where I live. High humidity and so I got very thirsty working outside. My neighbor offered me a tall glass of iced water. It was 95% water, and 5% cyanide. Should I have gulped it down? After all it was mostly water.
If you get my point no explanation is needed, if you don't then no explanation is enough.

Donating $$ visibly in the box by CHECK seems to help since a couple of brothers will see them and possibly discuss them.
That is the key to being accepted. As one guy (now an elder) told me years ago when I temporarily thought I would like to be married, "Don't get married. Just hire a couple hookers when you are in Las Vegas, come back and say you had a moment of weakness and you are sorry. Then make a BIG contribution to the congregation, maybe even slip a few Benjamins to the elders, and all will be okay."

Sagely advice of a CO
by Vidqun in“a circuit overseer started out by saying that on this last round of the circuit, the one thing he noticed the most...is that everyone is physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually drained...and that cuts across all barriers and demographics within the truth.
he then said that the one common thread that ran among nearly everyone was this: we feel guilty for feeling bad.
he said because we are told to endure with joy, our minds can cause us to feel enormous guilt over feeling this way...and then, my dear brothers and sisters...he proceeded to blow our collective minds.. he asked us to turn to daniel 8:27….

A Circuit Overseer started out by saying that the one thing he noticed the most...is that everyone is physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually drained.
Then no doubt "encouraged them to DO MORE, GIVE MORE, spend MORE TIME running the JW hamster wheel.
