She is likely using the term missionary in a colloquial sense so that the concept can be grasped by mainstream readers.
New York Times readers aren’t going to know what a “need-greater” is.
amber recently published a book about her ex-jw experiences in china.

so, the trailer for the new batwoman series was released a few days ago.. proof positive that hollywood, cw network and other movie/tv producers live in their own bubble and are continuing to push their sjw agenda.. the trailer itself has unbelievable levels of cringe at times.. batwoman happens to be a woman (if you hadn't already guessed) and an out and proud lesbian.
of course, there's nothing wrong with any of this, it just feels so forced.
within a few seconds of the trailer you get some girl-on girl action, just to hammer home the sexuality thing.
I hate "woke media", but this just looks like your average run of the mill CW show. Arrow was cringey, Flash is cringey, just about all their shows are cringey. This isn't anything new.
i know a lady who says she feels demeaned if a man walks on the outside or opens a door for her or stands aside to let her pass.
i just think it's good manners.
being a gentleman has nothing to do with equality in my opinion..
A random lady got upset with me once about holding the door for her, and I told her the truth. I said, “Lady, I hold the door for everyone regardless of gender. It’s the polite thing to do for others. If you don’t know this, I’m sorry for you.”
my wife has a friend ( male ) with a six month old baby who just decided to be unemployed and had a fairly good paying job.
without giving up too much information it seems quite weird.
the reason i ask is because i have been in meetings and assemblies and some of the advice they like to give doesn't seem very intelligence about being a productive member of society.
I quit a job one time, because a coworker asked me out on a date, and I wanted to go on a date with her. So I decided to quit in order to flee temptation.
i'm thinking of making a video.
i see there is an explosion of them recently by ex-jws which i believe is a good thing.. if you've done it, what easy-to-learn and use app did you use?
how much did it cost?
Hitfilm Express is a great, free video editor.
It's very similar to Adobe Premiere Pro in it's interface.
I am a professional video producer for corporate business videos and used to have an exjw YouTube channel.
If I didn't have the money for Adobe Premiere Pro, I'd be using Hitfilm Express.
a must read update to darkspilvers subpeona.
reddit has joined the eff's effort to fight the jehovah's witness organization, watchtower bible & tract society, who subpoenaed redditor darkspilver's identity using tenuous claims of copyright infringement.. set to go live in 5 hours!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsyvcy0pkok.
Simon is right.
Fair use is a *defense* not a *license*.
The only way to claim something is "fair use" is in a court of law after being sued for copyright.
"Fair use" defense prevents lawsuits, though, in the sense that any reasonable lawyer will tell their client they're wasting money and risking a countersuit.
But, as we know, the lawyers working for Watchtower don't care about reasonableness.
climate change ... who doesn't believe it?
crazy fools and science deniers ... right?.
it seems like it's become the new religion, the new orthodoxy, that must be accepted and believed as gospel and preached to all.. is it ok to be skeptical?.
Ever notice how blizzards are "just a weather event, not evidence that global warming is wrong" but any localized flood or hurricane is touted as "proof" that anthropogenic climate change is real?
Doesn't it remind you of a certain group of people?
"When good things happen it's the truth, when bad things happen it's the truth..."
normally, i don't like the memorial crash videos.. however, if you're thinking about doing one, i have a request:.
can someone please do a memorial crash where they break out a tub of hummus and eat the bread with some hummus?don't say a word.
just sit there silently dipping the bread in hummus and munching...and just stare blankly ahead while doing so.. .

many of us know that watch tower (yes, two words in this case) has issued a subpoena to reddit to try to gain darkspilver's identity due to accusations of copyright infringement:.
tl;dr: on april 9, watch tower filed a response to the eff's motion to quash (filed march 26) regarding the subpoena submitted to reddit in an attempt to find /u/darkspilver's identity.. the wt response is publicly available here as a pdf, from the site court listener.. a number of other documents relating to the case are available on the same site, here.. and the eff's motion to quash is available on the eff's website here.. details: as i'm sure many of us know, watch tower (yes, two words in this case) has issued a subpoena to reddit to try to gain /u/darkspilver's identity due to accusations of copyright infringement.
specifically, watch tower is claiming copyright infringement for two things: first, darkspilver posted the back page of the november 2018 watchtower which was an article entitled "what gift can we give to jehovah?” which explained how to donate.
It comes down to "fair use" argument and whether someone can make that claim and wants to spend money making that claim in court. You'd need to be able to demonstrate that there was substantial commentary and limited (just enough to be necessary) quoting and not simply re-publishing as a document dump.
This is correct.
"Fair Use" is a defense, not a license.
i was howling watching cedars latest video of tm111 buying a dozen bottles of scotch ((maccallans scotch).
you can't write this stuff.
right, i'm now off to buy a bottle of maccallans 😂..
You know how the Slave tells us all never to drink alcohol at dinner time on a meeting night? They don’t want us under any type of influence when we attend the meeting later that evening, because it would be disrespectful to Jehovah. I could see them ignoring their own counsel and sipping those scotches at any hour of the day. The rules don’t apply to them.
From the November 15, 2014 Watchtower: "Does this passage mean that we must not drink anything alcoholic before going to a Christian meeting? Think about these points: We are not under the Law. (Romans 10:4) In some lands, our fellow believers use alcoholic beverages in moderation at meals before attending meetings. Four cups of wine were used at the Passover. When instituting the Memorial, Jesus had his apostles drink wine that represented his blood."
