I am really amazed at the number of responses I received from my post. You don't even know how much your kind words have meant to me and my husband (he did read all replies, and said "wow what a bunch of nice people") I do want to know what is the PR thing some of you mentioned? Where are those articles on families ties aren't severed?

Stephanus,

Please tell me I made the right decision. Last night the CO and another elder showed up at our house just 5 minutes after my husband got home from work (I think they were sitting on the side of the road just waiting for him to come home)*stalkers*, anyway to make along story short, the pressure was on. I felt like they were there to get us to DA ourselves. He kept asking us questions like "Do you still consider yourself to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses?" And in a very tricky way other questions too. It is hard for me to put in writing just exactly how the converstaion went. BUT it did end in a way, that I start bawling, and just tell them to take me off their list- I DA'd myself and so did my husband. My husband looked them right in the face and said I am tired of seeing you people make my wife cry, this is the last time I ever want to see her cry over this! He(the CO) then told us that my brother, sister and mom would not be allowed to speak to us ever again- as if I needed to hear that at that point. So they leave, I am physically sick. I am crying hysterically,to the point I throw up! It was awful. I just want the pain to go away. I am tired of feeling like this. How can I just put this behind me and never look back? I went and said goodbye to my mom and told her it's been nice knowing her for 26 years! Can you imagine. Anyway, I need some encouraging words right now, and I know you guys will give it to me. Thanks for listening.

Help for a non-Witness
by hagey ini'm looking for anyone who is married to a non-witness, or someone who themselves is not a witness but is married to one.
i'm in desperate need of advice and don't know where else to turn.
i myself am not a witness but my girlfriend is and our religous differences are forcing us apart.

Sarah
Yes, you are asking for too much (from them). The witnesses don't work like that. That is why so many families have been torn apart, it is either their way or NO way, no in between. It sounds like you have already made up your mind anyway, so what kind of advice are you really seeking?

one thing I know for sure: marriage is hard for 2 people who share the same beliefs, let alone, 2 people who don't. Really think about what you're getting into. Right now she might be understanding that you don't want anything to do with the religion, but wait till after you marry her. The pressure will be on. Will she guilt you into it--some women marry unbelievers thinking they can change their mate's mind! If you have kids will she say things like "well I guess Jehovah will provide our children a new father in the new system"? i know of several sisters who used that to get their husbands to the meetings! I am very sorry for the situation that you're in-- my advise to you is to get out now or you are gonna have a long, hard road ahead of you! TRUST ME!!
I wish you the best,

Here's another story on why I started to doubt
by Sarah inthanks to all who read my post, and especially to all those who replied.
it is so encouraging to have so much in common with people.
i have been wanting to share this story for so long, just to show how much control these wt freaks have on their victims.

Thanks to all who read my post, and especially to all those who replied. It is so encouraging to have so much in common with people. I have been wanting to share this story for so long, just to show how much control these WT freaks have on their victims. My younger brother, who was the most spiritual person you could ever meet, a really genuine kind of guy, was baptized in 1997. Well he was very much part of the "world" before that. He was in college, living the typical college life. Well of course the little lad had a few sexual encounters. Well when he had learned of the "truth" he quit being sexual, which I guess that is good. Except the poor guy needed some kind of release, (you men out there know what I am saying--How hard is it for a man to have sex and then just try and quit??) So he starts to masturbate. In the privacy of his own little world- he decides that physically he has to do it. Which I don't have a problem with that. I know that there are physical side effects from young men if they don't get some kind of release. (sorry- I'm getting kind of graphic). Well of course an article comes out about masturbation and like a big dummy he goes to the elders and tells them of his so called "unclean problem" and from then on out he had to go to the back of the hall every Thursday night and report HOW MANY TIMES HE HAD DONE IT THAT WEEK!!! To see if he was improving, also he was only allowed to run the sound system and the mikes, he coudn't read the WT lesson, They turned him down for pioneering every 6 months that he tired to apply. His complete desire in life was to pioneer. And those bastards wouldn't let him do it!! I am sooo angry at what they have done to my brother, and he wants to please Jehovah so much that he does whatever these "men" tell him. He moved to a different town because he wanted to help out the spanish cong, which they were thrilled to have him, anyway he just gets good and settled there and he has to get all honest and go to the elders and tell them that him and his girlfriend (at that time), hips touched!!! No they didn't have sex, they didn't get naked, there freakin hips touched--whoopdido!! And they put him on public reproof, and took all of his privaleges away, he couldn't even give talks-which he rocked at and loved to do. I don't understand how he looks at all this and sais "This is what Jehovah wants",- he is still at there mercy. How much more cultish can you get???

Hello everyone! I have been reading post after post since January, (when my husband and I quit going to the meetings), just now getting up the nerve to say anything. You people scare me!!! There are some intense messages on here. No, really- I enjoy reading from all of you. Basically my story is pretty much like anyone else who has left, although what started my doubt is probably different than most.
I had just had my 3rd beautiful baby girl-(which her next older sister is only 18 months older- and the other was 5)anyway, we were leaving the hospital and had to make a stop at the store. We ran into my brother-fleshly brother who is also a spiritual brother as well. He is asking me all the stuff like "How ya feeling" type questions, when I told him I felt pretty good except I am really sore from my surgery. With a very puzzled look on his face he sais "what surgery" I said--"I got my tubes tied!" I'll never forget the look on his face- his exact words were " Did you do any research to see how the Society views that!" I thought I was going to puke. I had just had my 3rd child, which a lot of witnesses don't even contribute that much to the earth, and I have done something wrong to my body because my husband and I don't want to mess around with birth control the rest of our life. I was so upset. But like a good little witness, I went home and read the article that my brother told me to read (although it is way too late now!!, can't go and untie those tubes)ha ha! So we ended up talking to an elder (him and his wife have no kids), and he said since we were so new in the "truth" that nothing would come of it. But according to the article we could have had our privelages taken away. They will even go as far and not let a brother become a MS if he had a vasectomy!! Sorry my story is getting long, I'll try and wrap it up.
All this took place last August so for several months we just put it in the back of our minds, until one day I got in a BIG fight with my Dad (who is not JW), he kept saying something like "you guys are the false prophet" I was like whatever and hung up, vowing to never speak to my father again. And we didn't for a whole month. But it was because of that conversation, that I woke up on morning and thought you know I want to know what it is that he thinks he knows about the orginization-- just so I can defend everything he sais to me next time. Guess what? That's right, I got on the internet--WOW!!!! I spent the whole day reading all these sights, I bawled, I even called that 1-800-why1914 and talked with one of those ladies, I was so confused I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. Well when my husband got home, I pulled him aside right away and told him (nervously, not knowing what he was going to do)--and can you believe his response was "Oh great- I have always had doubts! this is great, let's call em up right now and tell them we won't be back!!!" Of course I had to let him know that is not quite how we handle it, because I have very close family in the 'truth", so we tried to fade out, but that didn't work, so my husband called an elder flat out told him to arrange a different bookstudy (it was at our house), take us off the school, and that we won't be back and he told him all the reasons why. And I wrote letters to my family members- which didn't go over well at all. I was getting calls, letters, visitors- I was at the breaking point. I had to go to my Dr. and be put on antianxiety and antideppresant medication. My family members that are still in don't completely shun me, but they mine as well, there is nothing there between us. The talk around our congregation is that we got a hold of apostate literature and it destroyed out faith!
So anyway, we are sooo loving life right now. We love our freedom to do whatever WE want to do, with out having to do research first!! Isn't it great to be out!!! Our status right now is we are just inactive publishers. Thanks for listening-- you guys are a great group- please respond, I would love to hear from you!! Oh ya I forgot i wanted to know if a person can get DF if they got a tattoo? I am feeling so free, I want to get a tattoo real soon, but just wondered if they could DF me? Does anyone know?
Hope to hear from all of you,
