Fortunately for me the shit hit the fan when I was considering taking the plunge. Not being baptised I was allowed to f-f-f-fade away and ride into the sunset.

spoken to my sister at long last

well i have spoken to a couple of close friends about us leaving the borg, and now after quite awhile, i have told my sister... thankfully it came as a natural progression in a telephone conversation we were having..... i told her about the facts that we have found out over the last few months, and all the research that we had done, and she was not interested, in that she said, the same old thing, that we all seem to hear, well it is a perfect organisation run by imperfect man, oh that really annoys me..and that jehovah would deal with those bros that had been wrong in the way that we have been treat, and that i should stil go to the kh, and sit at the back and listen, and then leave, it was unbelievable.. then i mentioned about the un... she knew nothing of this, and where did i find all the information from...here goes, by researching on the web... well that was a red rag to a bull....she suddenly had to go and do her husbands dinner, after telling me initially that she had time to talk to me.... sadly me sister is a person that unless she has found the information, she does not want to know....and everyone else is wrong.... and yes you guessed right, she is not interested in what i had to say... i mentioned ray franz, and the reasons as to why he was disf.
her answer... well he must have been apostate!!.

I can relate fully to what you are saying. It's been many years since I left the organization and I never had any conversations with any of my family members about why I left. Actually they all thought they knew why, so they never questioned, when in fact they were totally clueless.
I too had come from a close family. Unfortunately by not talking these matters over with them 25 years ago has left a rift that never seems to heal. I'm not as close to the members of my family who are witnesses as I am to those who aren't. All I can say is try to maintain conversation with her, maybe one day she'll pay attention.

Bike seat is killing my butt

My priorties are fairly simple: to remain non-smoking yet still manage to stumble around most of the day in an alcohol induced stupor. (It's actually the one thing I've managed to succeed at for the last 20 years.)

Congrats Viv!!!
I'm at 11 days now. It's getting easier everyday now. The toughest was the third, after that it was all uphill. I even went out for a bunch of beers last night and didn't even want a smoke. Keep it up, if I can do it after 20 something years almost anyone can.

Got My First Diesel. But...
by Englishman ini finally decided it was time to throw away my decrepit austin montego and get something for work that was a little less..well, tatty.. i need to carry ladders and tools and things.
however having had the experience of losing (stolen, actually) the tools from a van on 2 occasions, i know the value of having a car for work that has at least got a boot large enough to be able to hold my gear, without actually advertising the fact that, hey look, easy pickings!.
so, a car is what i needed.

We use a Diesel for work. My boss has a block heater installed. Just plug it in at night, starts up no problem in the morning. Ours is a ford 350 Laredo, you have to make sure that you turn the keyonly half-way at first, then turn it over after the light on the dash comes on or you could bugger up your glo-plugs, and those things cost an arm and a leg.

Wow!! I didn't realize they actually have my file in the FBI, because I'm only a small time Canadian criminal. They could have picked a better photo for my file though... they got me when I was having a bad hair day.
