i grew up in the religion and was baptized at.............supposedly the most important day in our lives and i cannot remember how old i actually was, anyways...... i believe it was 13 or 14. i was never disfellowshipped.

i have a "worldly" boyfriend whom i love dearly, and i no longer attend the "meetings".

i do not disagree with the organization entirely; in fact i am not even sure if i disagree with it at all.

Another Busted Family

it seems the wt god has successfully busted up another family.. my wife informed me that one of her friends husband gave her an ultimatum; it's goona be either the jw religion or him and she chose to follow wt doctrine rather than keep her family together.

another who's so-called taken stand for the trooth.

my wife is just berating the guy for leaving his family, but in my opinion it was not he who left, but his wife.

The non-jws are the ones that have life as they have known it ripped apart as if they mean NOTHING.

Amen to this statement. I've seen it happen time and time again. It's happened in my family in the 70's, I see it happening again. Trying to compromise with a person being roped in by the WTS is like beating your head against a brick wall, it only feels good when you stop.

during a conversation about "demons" over the weekend, a jw relative exclaimed " well, demons do not like the "divine name" very much!".

understanding what she obviously meant, i replied, "but isn't there reference in the bible that "true christians" have nothing to fear of demons?".

) she didn't think that there is any such reference, but i said i would do a bit of "research" .

I don't think that's particularly true. It was, after all, not Paul, but Peter who initiated preaching to Gentiles and receiving them into the congregation. It may have been a hard concept for the early Jewish Christians to accept, but the Holy Spirit made it clear to Peter that Gentiles would also be accepted

We may both be right on this. I think that Peter's view of the future of Christianity lay within the bounds of the Jewish law. To follow Christ was to still obey all the old rules of the Torah. There is no biblical evidence that Peter preached to the Gentiles in Rome, this thought originated with the early Christian writer Irenaeus in the late 2nd century.

I think that the whole 2nd chapter to the Galatians is central to this argument between Peter and Paul but particularly this:

But on the contrary seeing that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter with the gospel to the circumcised. Gal:2:7

I said to Cephas in the presence of all 'if you being a jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the jews, how is it that you compel the gentiles to live like jews.' Gal 2:14

I think this goes to the heart of the arguments between Peter and Paul, and shows that the two had different views on the direction of Christianity.

If my recollection is right it couldn't have been Russell, because they celebrated birthdays up until 1927, Russell as you might know died 1916. It was Rutherford most likely.

It probably was Rutherford, he must have been pissed off that prohibition was affecting his liquor flow, he had no Johnny Walker to pour over his cornflakes.

How can one properly celebrate X-mas without conferring with the spirits??
