  That's a sad story, Quotes. Your blood ties should be stronger than any artificial ties. It's bullshit that the org is trying to drive a wedge into your family. What should be the happiest day of your sisters life is tainted by an organization that claims to love and respect her. What a crock of crap. I hope that you and your wife do go to the ceremony... maybe you can arrange another reception, after the honeymoon for people who really love and respect your sister.

  Nimrod - the original freethinker?

  in an earlier discussion on this board about whether the nwt mistranslated the verse in genesis about nimrod being "a might hunter in opposition to jehovah," there was some really interesting research material presented.

  as i read it i began to realize that there seems to be a central reason why nimrod has been presented as one of the truly evil men of human history.. the witnesses emphasize that he was the one who started war, becoming a killer and tyrant.

  but in one of the quotes, there is a more likely reason for nimrod being vilified and demonized.

  I haven't been able to get this whole thing about Nimrod out of my mind. I did a re-read this morning on the part of the bible dealing with the tower of Babel. Reading it without any blinders, I couldn't belive what i was reading. Her's Genesis 11:6-7 courtesy of the Gideons:

  And the Lord said, "Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.
  7 "Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech."

  Stunning, what a jealous, spiteful god. This is not the act of a rational loving being...but rather the act of a little child.
  In this passage, I assume he is talking to Micheal or Gabriel, who else is 'Us'? Most wars in the course of human history are caused by language and religion differences. Here we have God wreaking vengence, in his own words, 'because nothing which they purpose will be impossible for them.'
  Because nothing they purpose will be impossible for them!!!

  Exoterically, Bible and Babel are much alike... total confusion!

  how could john know exactly how many people were there?

  how did he know that they were representing the 12 tribes of israel?

  imagine this folks...the wts as an ocean going vessal.

  the captain of this ship is the governing body, the crew are the bethelites and all those overseers, and the passengers are the congregations of jw's.. ok, this ship has been sailing calmy for many years, but lately it has taken on a pretty hefty cargo.

  OK, this ship has been sailing calmy for many years, but lately it has taken on a pretty hefty cargo. Let's examine this cargo:

  -organisation harbouring pedophiles

  -governing body sleeping with enemy (UN)

  -Blood Issue

  -Doctrinal Flip-flops (1914...1975))

  OK boys, the seas are gonna get rough. Rats always desert a sinking
  ship. So the first ones to leave are the governing body, helicopter to Geneva to check out those secret accounts. Next to go of course is the crew, gotta see if crumbs from those accounts still exist. The Good Ship Watchtower, now crewless, rudderless, hits the rocks and founders. The passengers are bobbing in the waves...no hope in sight. But look, on the horizon...it's the Good Ship Appostate. The dubs say 'we don't need you, Jesus is our saviour!'. Well...good news to you brother...Save Yoursself...'cause he aint coming!!!
