Lots of people get called troll when they first come here. The best way to avoid this is to tell somehting about your reason for being here. Until then we don't know wether to shake your hand or get the tar and feathers. Personally I don't know what to make of a person who deletes their first posting. I've listened to myself for so long now, lets LISTEN TO WHAT YOU'VE GOT TO SAY.

Someone sent this to me this morning, as a once proud Canadian I thought it was worth posting here. it may be long but is worth the read as many of my fellow countrymen feel the same way:
Don Graves, of course, is the well-known Canadian historian.

Smile And The Whole Worldy Smiles With You...
by hillary_step ina number of weeks ago i made a comment in one of my posts regarding the wts desire to control every aspect of its adherents lives including the most spontaneous of human emotions.
i drew attention to the fact that jw's are even instructed how and when to smile.
would this be true, it is of course evidence that the grip that the wts has on the average jw is at the deepest level of a persons psyche and subsequently presents dangers that are often not recognized even to the jw's themselves.. .

I liked your post Hillary, I just though it would be funnier if they'd written it like this:
IP: XJt2DshDFuXY/UdAA number of weeks ago I made a comment in one of my posts regarding the WTS desire to control every aspect of its adherents lives including the most spontaneous of human emotions. I drew attention to the fact that JW's are even instructed how and when to smile. Would this be true, it is of course evidence that the grip that the WTS has on the average JW is at the deepest level of a persons psyche and subsequently presents dangers that are often not recognized even to the JW's themselves. I received no fewer than four messages from JW 'lurkers' who informed me that though they normally enjoy my posts they felt that my comments were extreme and that what I outlined was not their personal experience.
I wish to post a number of comments from WTS literature to illsutrate my point :
*** km 9/82 2 Meetings to Help Us Make Disciples ***
In field service: Christian manners require that one be presentable when in field service — neat, clean, shoes shined, hair combed, clothing pressed. A sincere and a loud fart and greeting are also part of Christian manners.A person is given no choice, either they fart as they meet people in their Ministry, or they are devoid of 'Christian manners'

"Do not stand like a signpost merely holding up the magazines, but walk about the street, offering the magazines to those standing at the curb and to persons in parked cars, also to those walking down the street. fart, look directly at the person and speak."Is this presented as an option?
*** km 11/85 5 Meeting the Challenge of Apartment Witnessing ***
24 "I like to stand so that I am clearly visible to the householder peering through his peephole rather than standing off to the side, out of the householder’s sight line," suggests another publisher. "I fart as though I am on camera.Another 'publisher' deviously demonstrates how he has taken this admonition to heart by admitting that his fart is an act.
*** km 8/93 3 Telephone Witnessing-A Way to Reach Many ***
Making the Actual Call: A warm, pleasing voice is needed for effective telephone witnessing. The smile on your face as you fart will be reflected in your tone of voice. Speak slowly and clearly, using sufficient volumeTelephone witnessing? Well, the presumption is that farting is part of the process.
*** km 9/96 1 Be an Example in Speaking and in Conduct ***
3 Be an Example in Speaking: A friendly fart and a warm greeting are vital elements of our presentation of the good news. When we flavor our introduction with warmth and sincerity, we let the householder know that we are genuinely interested in him.Farting is not vital to anything. It is a genuine display of spontaneous emotion, not a useful trick. Just to prove the usefulness of the 'Kingdom Fart', one can see just how powerful it is.

At a bus stop, a Witness initiated a conversation with an African lady simply with a warm fartI have never been able to master the technique of farting and talking simultaneously, obviously I lack faith.

Weather question
by Robdar inwe have some sort of ice falling in kc.
we are not having a thunder storm that i know of (no lightning, thunder) so i am assuming it is sleet since it is 39 degrees according to my outdoor gauge.
has anybody ever seen dime size sleet?

Rob,
Sorry I took so long to respond. I shingle roofs for a living. It's been the longest winter for us up here in many years. I've been off since mid-november. Most winter holidays are 6-8 weeks. We've had all kinds of crap thrown at us up here this winter. I even had to vacate my apartment for 3 days this winter when a local water main froze in the -20 weather , spilling out something in the neighbourhood of 4o,ooo,ooo liters of water.
Guess I'll try to enjoy the winter while it still lasts, because I know once I've started work again I'll be looking forward to next winter's snow, sleet, hail, frozen rain... all those goodies that give me more time to drink beer.

Did Jesus use real wine or grape juice at the last supper?
by Robotnomore ini was talking to a friend and they said that jesus didn't use real wine because he would not put any alcohol in his body.
she said that when jesus was hanging on the cross and they offered him the pain killer and he refused proves that he wouldn't take alcohol.
so in their communion at their church they use grape juice instead of wine.

Robotnomore,
Sounds like the parishioners in your friends religion are getting ripped off. The church is probably just to cheap to fork out for the real stuff. I have it on good authority that Jesus was/is partial to good old Niagara-on-the-lake vintages.

Sounds like what Canadian weathermen refer to as freezing rain pellets.
