  so, if you expect to find 'saints' with halos, you will never find real christians.. after over 30 years of being a jw, there are many things about the org that disturb me- yet no one else even acknowledges the only true god, as jesus referred to him.. not a 'they' or 'them' ('trinity')- but him!and he has always had the name jehovah (yehovah in hebrew)- even though the koine greek had no version of it when the nt was written.. so among the many things real christians have to endure- is often each other!

  Amen, I gave a talk many years ago on John 17, dealing with the Lord's Gethsamane prayer in part I said the folliwng:

  Jesus asks the Father for four things regarding his disciples. Look at the text with me: "Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name-the name you gave me-so that they may be one as we are one." (V.11) The word for "protect" means to guard or keep. But here's the question: What does He want them to be protected from? It's not the Devil and his powers because He gets to that in verse15.

  Whatever it is that He wants them protected from will be a threat to their oneness and unity. Here's my suggestion: Jesus prays that the Father protect them from themselves. The greatest threat to unity is sinful human nature. Jesus has seen it in the disciples before. They argued over: who was the greatest; who should sit at the right and left of Jesus in glory; who should wash the feet; why they couldn't do certain miracles; whether they should let the children come to see Jesus. It's human nature.
  We are naturally drawn to bitterness, jealousy, self-centeredness, pettiness, gossip, grudges, anger, prejudice and much more. Each of these things is deadly to the church and to relationships. Jesus is praying that the Father would protect them from such division. If the disciples were going to carry the message to the world, they needed to work together. So do we.

  Should You Be Required To Wear A Coronavirus Mask?

  some towns require everyone going outside to wear one.

  one massachusetts city requires anyone from 5 up to wear a mask.

  some cities require masks and have shut down parks and sports playing while others in a nearby town have no such restrictions.

  Nope, I'm essential personnel, and I don't wear a mask, wear gloves or use sanitizer, and I work 12 hour days, picking up the slack for sick co-workers, I walk 15 miles a day on my own route, touching mailboxes, doorknobs, handrails and dirty mail.

  My last two years with the Witnesses I was actually attending Bible Student meetings. I maet with all the different types of Bible Students and I find one I was comfortable with.

  The virus and how it's affected life

  since i've never lived in time with dire events, this virus and it's effects, has taken me by surprise.

  not that i should be surprised by how people responded, but until you experience it first hand, you just don't get the scope of it all.. all the hoarding.

  i've always taken things in a more rational way.

  Same here, people hoarding, especially toilet paper, although yesterday after work I stopped at the supermarket to get some juice and I saw a guy walking out with toilet paper so I walked in and found a clerk stocking them, so I grabbed one. Didn't really need it, but I was running low and didn't want to be without.

  Markets have been emptied for a few weeks, the last week or so have found bread and meat stocked, so things are getting better.

  Personally I was never concerned, I'm considered "essential" as a Letter Carrier so I'm out delivering 12 hours a day picking up the slack for sick coworkers, touching dirty mail, mailboxes, handrails and doorknobs. I don't wear gloves, mask or use sanitizer.

  Remember the Revelation book?

  i recall when it was released ,that's when i was a drone, how excited i felt at the prospect of reading it and formulating ways to sell it at the homes in my area.. i thought, finally a book to explain the last book in the bible and indeed one that the churches seemed to want to leave alone!.

  i sold quite a few probably because of my enthusiasm and can still remember clearly the first day when i went knocking on doors with it ,and it's been decades since.. but over time it lost it's shine and my mind started to question the explanations in it due to the scene of other things being changed in the jw beliefs.. do you remember they flogged that book so many times in the book studies even when it was found to have "newer light " eclipsing it!.

  who else remembers the printed pages with the official corrections to insert into the book ,so many that the book collapsed to be of no relevance anymore really.....what an embarrassment!.

  I remember when it first came out ... being a Watchtower history buff I just laughed when I read it. Then they updated it to hide errors and false teachings.

  I remember in the early 90s we studied that book like 3 or 4 times. When it was announced at the Service Meeting I let out a huge groan, "not again!" LOL
