I believe the 7th day adventists still hang onto 1843/44 (William Miller's dates).
There's certainly no danger of the WTS running out of goofy / failed religious movements to copy from.
how far do we get away from 1914 before they have a new light and admit it was all wrong?.
they cling to the old theory of the 77 week prophecy from the wrong date that jerusalem was destroyed .
with the overlapping generations nonsense still we are getting too far away from 1914. what will they say if we get to the 2030s and they still cling to 1914?.

what do people usually think of when they buy a house?
"i will probably live here for a long time" (you're invested with your time), "i will save money by building equity over time".
(you've invested in yourself financially for the long run) of course, i wouldn't be able to list the numerous reasons why people want to buy a house.
Depends on which JW you talk to.
Some JWs are fairly wealthy, some very wealthy. Ask one of them, and you will get their blessing.
Other JWs are of moderate means, or poor, and could not afford to buy real estate. Ask one of them, and the most likely response will be one of personal pride, how they are keeping their lives simple and "pursuing Kingdom interests first", and if you were wise, you'd do the same.
It also may well depend on which country the JW resides in. In the US, where owning your own home is deeply ingrained into the culture, most JWs would have no issue. In, say, Germany or Switzerland, well half or more of the population rent their homes, there may be a more negative response.
unlike men who took no note, surely the fallen angels knew of gods plan to flood the earth, so why didn't they build an ark(s) for their nephilum sons?
.
The witnesses will answer: Those Wicked Angels care nothing for anyone else. They are far to selfish to care about their children.
But...but....but....
I heard from "good JWs" that the reason Halloween exists is that it's the day that the demons mourn their nephilim children who perished in the flood (some bright-bulb JW apparently calculated that the flood started on November 1), and so they terrorize humanity because....well....the explanation sort of breaks down there, but it's definitely because that's the day the nephilim died!
This is all bible based (TM).

Obviously they kill him immediately, because he's too dangerous to be kept alive and ... wait, they don't?
You've obviously never seen a James Bond film. The baddies always keep the hero around long enough for him to hatch an escape plan.
i remember one of the flowchart responses to people questioning the biblical flood was something along the lines that "every culture has a flood story".. of course, nearly everywhere has flooded at one time or another and we know there are minor floods and then there are the 1-in-1000 year kind of weather event, that tend to get a mention (anyone from the uk will still talk about the summer of '76, and that's probably nothing in comparison to a decent flood).. but the inference is that the flood must be real, because every culture has a flood story.. the best response is "now do dragons".. because apparently, nearly every culture also has a dragon legend.. does it mean dragons exist?
some desperate jw may show their ignorance by suggesting that man lived at the same time as dinosaurs and they are what the stories were based on.
fun fact: stegosaurus was a fossil when t-rex was alive for longer than it's been since t-rex has been a fossil to us - we're talking old, and no overlap (ignore the map in the cover of the old green bible).. do jws still even bother trying to defend the cray-cray aesop-fable kind of ot beliefs?.
Just wanted to pop back in and say....
If you're bored and are looking for some super-duper crackpot stuff to kill time, just click on that link under "Here's another reference pages 55-58" above. It's a PDF of book written in the 1930's by a guy named Churchward (and is the source for the Ripley poster displayed above).
Wowsers! It's really.....something.
I especially liked the part about how Moses wrote the book of Genesis in Egyptian hieroglyphics and Ezra, not understanding them, screwed up the translation. Most of the book is far less entertaining, alas.

LOL ^2.
From the Creation.com article you lifted the photo from:
Let’s assume that this is correct. We have no way of checking it at present, except for the decades-old reputation of Ripley himself, who exposed his findings to the scrutiny of literally hundreds of millions of people.
I stand corrected:
"The flood is true because an anonymous writer on an obscure website is too lazy to research by, oh, I don't know, actually talking to a linguist, or, goddess forbid, spending 3 minutes reading in Wikipedia about the Mayan language, and thus he accepts as gospel truth the made-up nonsense of an early 20th century cartoonist who undoubtedly knew less than nothing about the Mayan language."

"The flood is real because of a Ripley's Believe It Or Not Poster in Australia".

Are you going to get the horse next to Anthony Morris III when riding into battle at Armageddon, to smite the enemies of Jah?
the watchtower—study edition | february 2022. study article 6. do you trust in jehovah’s way of doing things?.
15 as the end of this system of things draws near, we need to trust in jehovah’s way of doing things as never before.
during the great tribulation, we may receive instructions that seem strange, impractical, or illogical.
In WT-world, obedience to the organization is by far the most important measure of someone's worth, far outweighing faith, love, kindness, you name it.
Disobedience truly is the "unforgivable sin" in WT-world.
i cannot find written anywhere that after 6 months without preaching activities reported you are considered an inactive jw.. where is this written?
or is it a non-written rule?.
thanks..
It's scattered about here and there. The latest reference is in the June 2020 WT, page 18, footnote to paragraph 2.
EXPRESSION EXPLAINED: An inactive publisher is someone who has not reported any activity in the preaching and disciple-making work for six months or more. Even so, inactive ones are still our brothers and sisters, and we love them.
