Whoa Nelly! Second time I’ve said that his week.

Naturally no reason is given, but the timing with the developments in Pennsylvania is certainly interesting.

This sort of thing just doesn’t happen. Certainly wouldn’t be a health issue - they kept Barber, Gangas etc. on the GB long past when they were mentally incapable of doing much more than keeping their eyelids open.

The last time a “no longer serving” announcement was made was in 1981, for Ray Franz. AMIII is almost certainly not an “apostate”, he doesn’t seem to have the intelligence or character to make a principled stand.

The terseness of the announcement makes me think it is disciplinary. And if so, it’s something far worse than “being caught on video buying $800 worth of scotch” since that happened many years ago and the video has been freely available since then.

I keep coming back to the Pennsylvania CSA thing. Can’t say for sure that’s it but boy it sure would explain things.

Except for the fact that every time a child abuser moves to a new congregation, his letter of introduction was supposed to include all the info his prior congregation had on his child abuse judicial case(s). The current elder manual basically says “call the service department before sending anything in writing” now, but for decades the policy was to just go ahead and send it.

Even current policy is, if there is any file on CSA in the congregation records, it must be marked “do not destroy” and kept indefinitely.

There has to be dozens if not hundreds (thousands?) of ticking time bombs in Pennsylvania congregation files, from this “do not destroy” congregation files and/or those letters of introduction from years past that are still hanging around.

Bad time to be an elder in Pennsylvania.

The funny part is, Jesus tells exactly who his “brothers” are in a direct, clear quote in Matthew 12:50:

”For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, that one is my brother and sister and mother.”

Nothing about “144,000” or “anointed ones” or “little flock”. It says “whoever”.

What’s that line the JWs like to trot out? “The Bible interprets itself”?

I guess it does, except when it doesn’t.

Did you happen to catch this month’s JW broadcast?

It was the edited version of the October 2022 annual meeting, with talks by gb guys and videos.

One of the talks was by The Most Boring Human On The Planet, Ken Cook. He was droning on about Revelation 11:18 and how God will “bring to ruin, those ruining the earth”.

Towards the end, he asks rhetorically, “so when can we expect this?”

After failed attempt at a dramatic pause, he made his usual limp attempt at enthusiasm by exclaiming “Soon! Yes! Very soon, God will blah blah blah (you know the rest)”.

I just thought it was hysterical - that tepid attempt at a dramatic pause and, then, in his best imitation of enthusiasm, he squeaks “Soon! Very soon!” as if it were the first time in recorded history that the WTS had used those words, instead of it being a repeat of their message for well over a literal century.

Idiots. The lot of the them.

It’s been Russia for the past 7 or 8 years, ever since the Russian government seized a bunch of WTS real estate there.

Oh, and coincidentally and inconsequentially, some JWs there have been imprisoned for following their religious beliefs.

But obviously and of course, the primary reason is “they took our stuff!”

Never heard of either one of them.

Speculating, based on dates given in the blurb:

Both appear to be “lifetimers” at Bethel. If we assume that a Bethel lifer is likely a born-in, and also likely a congregation “golden boy” who did everything that a good little JW “young one” is supposed to do, that would probably mean they started pioneering (“full time service”) right out of high school.

In the US, most people finish high school at age 18.

Assuming my speculation is accurate (which seems likely), that would their respective years of birth 1971 & 1968, making them currently age 51 & 54 (roughly).

More young GBers. The start of GB 3.0?

The most interesting question (at least to me) is, when did they start partaking? Are they “overlappers” (started before Fred Franz died in 1992)? Or are they “next generation anointed”? If they beat the Splane-ordained Franz cutoff date to be part of “this generation”, both would have begun partaking while in their 20s. That seems unlikely, given their likely “golden boy” status and subsequent lack of desire to rock the boat. Being a “young anointed” in the 90s would have been a sure way to land in the doghouse.

So, I think we probably have our first gb guys who are not part of “this generation”.

As I repeatedly said, this is 100% speculation and inference so quite possibly wrong, but I think the chances of my being right are more than 50%.

question on vaxxed for the schools

i get it about the elder and ms schools, but the question is : what is your understanding about the pioneers?

i know they have the pioneer school for those who have been in the service for one year ( then at an interval) so i see how the vx rule applies to them, but do you understand if it applies to meetings they have with the co when he visits and also what is your understanding as to the special meeting day they have before the assemblies?.

Covid vaccines are required for the 6 day pioneer school that all first year pioneers are invited to, then every 5 years thereafter.

No COVID vaccination is required for meetings with the CO or meetings tied to the circuit assembly.

It’s started COBE asking all appointed men if they are fully vaccinated

there is a huge problem now in all congregations as the gb stubbornly will not do the u turn on staying fully vaccinated that many hoped they would do.. all congregations around the world the cobe has to ask all ministerial servants and elders if they are fully vaccinated (meaning no more than six months since last shot).

there is a massive problem now with many many jdubs not getting their latest boosters and not wanting to stay fully vaccinated .

but more serious than that is how the gb painted themselves into a corner with these vaccine mandates.. most governments did a u turn on the vax mandates but the gb can’t get out of this one so easily .

Without getting issues of the efficacy of the COVID vaccines, it is mind-bogglingly inconsistent of them to require vaccinations for “schools”, which will have an attendance of roughly 40 to 100 people, and not require them for circuit assemblies (attended by hundreds) or regional conventions (attended by thousands, in some cases many thousands).

If their concern was “prevent the transmission of the virus”, you’d think the larger the crowd, the more restrictive the requirements.

Seems as though one’s vaccination status has become something of a loyalty test for those with “privileges”. Are you “obedient to those taking the lead” when, while they did not explicitly state “thou shalt be vaccinated”, they surely l-e-e-e-aned in that direction.

A 21st century Shibboleth to see who is really loyal and obedient.

Just to clarify….

The vaccine requirements are for “theocratic schools” only. Things like the pioneer school, elders school (5 day and 1 day), etc.

if it doesn’t have “school” in the title, a vaccine is not required.

So the meeting with pioneers & the CO, the meeting with elders & CO, etc. are not included. No vaccine requirements for “meetings”, only for “schools”.

That said, I would not be surprised if some (many?) overzealous COBEs start making / enforcing their own personal rules and start badgering people about their vaccination status for unnecessary things. But that would not be the official WTS position.

2022 Service Report is Out

Trying to think what words best describe the numbers…..

Disastrous? Catastrophic? Devastating? Gut-wrenching?

It was never easier to be seen as a “good” JW than during the pandemic. Attend meetings at home in a t-shirt and shorts & drinking beer….getting your field service time in while sitting at home, chatting with friends on Zoom while writing a line or 2 of a letter every 5 or 10 minutes…pioneer with no hour requirement whatsoever….and the numbers still went down or at best broke even.

Now, in person meetings and in person door to door are back at full speed. The hamster wheel is spinning again. But with easily 40% or more still avoiding the KH, and door to door met with less than gleeful enthusiasm, it is quite evident that for the majority of JWs, their heart just isn’t in it anymore. They’ll still keep hanging on, clinging to the hope that “very soon now” they’ll get their seaside mansion and see dead grandma again, but….

As BB King sang, “the thrill is gone”.

EDIT: another thought - now we see the reasons for the January “governing body update”. They cherry picked a couple of meager points & spun them as an “increase”, and lowered the pioneer requirement to literally half of what it was a generation ago, in a desperate attempt to get out ahead of this utterly depressing report. Let’s see how effective the message is…..
