using a phone app nowadays, there are earthquakes detected in one place after another but is this what jesus meant and did they have so many earthquakes throughout the centuries affter his prophecy or are these modern day detected earthquakes unique to this epoch?

how can we be sure unequivocally that modern day earthquakes are part of the sign fulfilling bible prophecy?.

Duran - Absolutely too much emphasis. If their claim to fame (to being appointed the f&ds) in 1919 is a false teaching, then what basis is there to think that Jesus has anything more or less to do with them than any of all the other so-called Christian faiths?

I understand, since in comparison to other religions, it's not nearly as prominent. Their claim to fame is bogus, as is their doctrine, BUT, there was just enough truth to lead all the anointed over the years into its trap, into “Babylon”. The Wt. has described correctly the “royal priesthood” as “living stones” of the spiritual temple of God; yet even that truth has been changed recently into a lie. Now, thanks to G. Losch who promotes it, all JWs are part of this spiritual temple. Do they realize that would make all JWs, priests? I never said Jesus had interest in the organization, except to see its downfall. (2 Thess 2:7-8; Rev 13:1-2,18; 19:20) His first interest is his appointed priesthood – the anointed chosen by God, which are held captive by its lies. (Isa 43:10; 1 Pet 2:5,9,10; John 15:16; Matt 16:18; 1 Cor 3:16; 6:19-20; Eph 2:20-22; Col 2:8; Rev 13:10; 3:18) Jesus also is calling out all JWs who are residing in spiritual captivity under “harlots”, those of God’s people who have broken their covenant with Christ, to enter a new one – “Babylon the Great”. (Isa 28:14-19; Rev 13:11,12; 17:1-6;18:4-8)

The proof that there are any genuine anointed in the Wt.? When you are genuinely anointed, it’s not a mere “feeling” that you will be going to heaven, or that you “just know it”, it is a supernatural experience. The genuine anointed in the organization are told NOT to talk about their anointing, and JWs are dissuaded from asking. This should raise a red flag. Why can't they? It isn't scriptural, but pure slavery to the will men. (2 Cor 11:20; Gal 1:10) The early priests and kings were anointed with holy oil. They felt it run down their beard and their garments as Psalm 133:2 poetically tells us. God’s holy priesthood under Christ are anointed with Holy Spirit that permeates every fiber of one’s being, as if symbolic warm oil pours from above, filling one’s heart with indescribable love and peace. (Rom 5:5) Neither God, Jesus nor His Spirit are inactive in this time period. I know anointed ones from the Wt, and I was anointed when a young woman just entering the org. Our experiences were very similar, but still tailored to the individual. The organization was the inspiration of the adversary, with the intention to destroy those belonging to Christ. (1 Pet 5:8; Matt 7:15; 24:24-25; Acts 20:29-31) Wasn’t Jesus hunted by Herod, and he killed all the children ages 2 and under, hoping that Jesus was among them? (Matt 2:16) Didn’t Jesus tell his disciples NOT to go door to door? (Luke 10:5-7) Yet, what do JWs pride themselves in, but going “house to house”?

The Kingdom will not arrive until the temple built with “living stones” is complete… (Zech 4:4-8; Rom 8:19; Rev 13:7; Dan 7:19-21) …when those priests who submit to the will of God, walk in the path that Christ took, losing family and friends for their testimony to truth, submit to refinement through God’s word, are then sealed into the heavens. (Matt 25:1-13; Heb 12:22) Satan knows this, and he’s doing everything he can to stop the process, because they are part of Christ’s spiritual body, the Temple of God under the new covenant. (Gal:4:26) (1 Cor 10:17; 12:13-14) The loss of Satan’s own kingdom is at stake, so in the last days, he uses deceit to take captive the anointed, over the lifetime of the Wt. (Rev 16:13-16; 20:7-9)

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus foretold that earthquakes “in one place after another” would be part of the sign of the last days clímaxing in the great tribulation.

Luke 17:20 - Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation”.

observation – “inspection, ocular evidence”.

If we take these words as the truth that they are, then Jesus is not talking about literal earthquakes or wars among nations to be observed, or to keep our eyes on. There are two sets of signs, one that Jesus is speaking about, and one that creates a diversion tactic, a deterrent from the real “war” and real “earthquakes” that affect an individual. Real, meaning the spiritual, not the physical. 1 Cor 2:14 “The whole world lies in the power of the wicked one” 1 John 5:19. Although the earth is bound to have earthquakes anyway, Satan can also create his own set of signs that requires observation. The Wt. has set up a kingdom, that can be observed and revered. But Jesus said right after Luke 17:20 - “ nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” That’s not something that can be observed, but only felt. We see Satan’s power at work in the book of Job. He can also convince people to look for those physical signs, through the mouths of his “ministers” – false teachers/prophets. 2 Cor 11:13-15

In Luke 21, the very first thing that Jesus tells us is that false teachers/ prophets will arise saying “the time is at hand”, and they will appear to represent Christ. He says, don’t go after them (Luke 21:8); but guess what, those who became JWs, certainly did go after them; especially the “elect”/saints/anointed priests-kings, which was prophesied to happen. Matt 7:15; 24:24,25; Luke 22:31; 1 Tim 4:1; Col 2:8; Rev 13:10

He then mentions wars, famine, earthquakes. But he says, “But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.“ Luke 21:12-13

For the sake of Jesus Christ, not for being a JW. John 16:2,3

So, we’re back to the presence of false prophets (because it mentions religious synagogues/”congregations”), and what they do to those who reject their teachings. If, in the organization we stand up for the words of Christ over the words of the GB, what happens? We are “brought before” the ruling elders under the authority of anointed “kings” (Rev 5:9,10), “governors”. Luke 21:12-13; Matt 10:18; Luke 22:24-26 We give our testimony to Christ’s teachings, we expose the lies in the same manner that Jesus did.

And, what comes next does happen as a result:

“You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake.” Luke 21:16-17

If the signs are spiritual, then this “death” in this day, is through disfellowshipping. (Rev 13:11,12,15)

17 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake.”

Those “apostates” who leave the lies and reject the organization as belonging to God, are certainly hated. If we use the words of Jesus, the scriptures, to refute the lies when before a judicial committee, the hammer comes down. (John 16:2; Rev 13:10,15)

So what kind of earthquakes is Jesus talking about? The tremors and upheaval in the “soil”/earth of our heart when we find out we were serving the lie. Our heart undergoes change. Heb 12:27 And “earthquakes” that come from God, a shaking of His people. Matt 13:18-23; Hos 10:12; Isa 7:2; Isa 52:2; Amos 9:9; Jer 31:33

And the wars? Jesus faced a war in his day against the Pharisees, a war of his truth against their lies. Luke 20:20; Mark 3:1,2; John 8:13-14,23-24,39-47

It was a decision-making war for all who heard his message. Joel 3:14 Don’t we also see this today? There is the term coined, “the Vast Apostate Army”, dedicated to bring down the Wt. About the apostates, D. Splain himself said, "Brothers and Sisters, this is war”.

The two “Beasts” that “kill” any who refuse to worship it, (Rev 13:5,8), “make war with the saints”. (Rev 13:7)

And there, is the war that Jesus was talking about that happens to the anointed in the last days. Sure, the world is physically suffering from wars, but as Paul said, our war is spiritual, not carnal. There are anointed ones very active outside the organization, using God’s Word to tear down the GB’s lies. 1 Cor 11:19; 2 Cor 10:3-6 Those that remain inside the organization, believe in watching and counting the earthquakes and wars that they can observe, expecting the Kingdom to arrive any minute, but they are totally blind to the trap that they believe is their salvation. Amos 5:18

Oh, and famine - “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God,
“That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the Lord. Amos 8:11

So, am I putting to much emphasis on the Watchtower? There are a remnant of genuine anointed who are the target of deception. They belong to Christ, they are his kings of the earth/priests. (Rev 1:5,6; 1 Pet 2:5,9) Just as Satan was trying to deceive and destroy Christ, he is also wanting to destroy the members of Christ’s body…using deceit through the mouths of false prophets/teachers.

“I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits, something like frogs; 14 for they are spirits of demons, performing signs; which go out to the kings of the whole inhabited earth, to gather them together for the war of that great day of God, the Almighty.

15 “Behold, I come like a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his clothes, so that he doesn’t walk naked, and they see his shame.”

16 He (the dragon) gathered them together into the place which is called in Hebrew, “Megiddo”.

Do the WTBTS & JW ORG speak in Jehovah's name?

when the prophet speaks in the name of jehovah and the word is not fulfilled or does not come true, then jehovah did not speak that word.

Jehovah gives us clear direction through his Word and through his organization. We have no reason to add to the instruction he provides. (Prov. 3:5-7) Therefore, we do not go beyond what is written in the Bible or make rules for fellow believers about personal matters.

Who really is providing the instructions? God? Quotes like this are just plain sickening. They DID AND DO, go beyond what is written in the Bible.

Lev 26:1 - "You shall not make idols for yourselves; neither a carved image nor a sacred pillar shall you rear up for yourselves; nor shall you set up an engraved stone in your land, to bow down to it; for I am the Lord your God."

Literally and symbolically, they have done this. Their sacred pillar standing at Bethel represents their organization. Their “engraved stone” is their logo, which is the door that opens to their lies. Interestingly, the dichotomy is Jesus, the Logos, the Word of truth from the Almighty God. John 1:1-5; 10:7-10

Exod 20:4a “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.

The organization is built in the likeness of all other organizations in the earth, below the heavens.

“Jehovah and his organization” - They have paired their perception of God, with corruption. What blasphemy.

Isaiah 46: 5-10 “To whom will you liken Me, and make Me equal
And compare Me, that we should be alike?
6 They lavish gold out of the bag,
And weigh silver on the scales;
They hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god;
They prostrate themselves, yes, they worship.

Who really wants to be like God, and prefers to lie over telling us the truth? John 8:44

Who loves to offer riches and power and authority from this world, to wield over others? Luke 4:5-7

Ancient Israel was led into idolatry more times than one can number. Spirit “Israel”/anointed/”saints” have been led into idolatry as well. Matt 24:24-25; 2 Cor 11:3-4,13-15; Col 2:8; 1 Tim 4:1; Rev 13:4-7,10-12

"So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast ("Jehovah's organization") ; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

Doesn't this "beast" spiritually "kill" people who do not revere "Jehovah's organization"?

Rev 13:15 - "He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast ("spirit-directed organization") should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed."

i'll start by stating the obvious... according to the watchtower, the catholic church is a huge part of babylon the great which is led by satan and his demons.

raymundus martini, a catholic monk (who "represents" babylon the great to some extent), woke up one day in the 13th century and decided to alter yhwh so it can be easily pronounced.

hence the spanish-ish version of yhwh was created... jehova... (sounds something like this in spanish: heh-o-va).

Meaning of Elder from the horses mouth as contrasted with Clergy

elder: a spiritually mature male witness appointed to teach and to provide pastoral care for the well-being of congregation members.

an elder must meet the scriptural qualifications as outlined at 1 timothy 3:1-7; titus 1:5-9; james 3:17, 18; and 1 peter 5:2.. elders are not paid ministers and are not employees of their respective congregation or any corporation associated with jehovah’s witnesses.

Okay, who receives honor as an anointed one but the GB, who, acting as benefactors/high officials/tyrants (depending on the translation), of the organization, have also amassed great wealth. (Mark 10:41-45 CSB; Luke 22:24-27 CSB; Matt 20:24-28 NIV)

But a true faithful anointed one following in the footsteps of Christ (not possible in the Wt), would most definitely not expect any honor to be given them. That would be bestowed on them at Jesus’ return. (Matt 25:21)

And no honor is attributed to them in the magazines.

Then why do elders, who “represent” this anointed priesthood, need to be honored?

Self-defined on the surface only. You may think that they are all “brothers”, but the elder “clergy”/pseudo priesthood, the elders themselves, must be obeyed. Any time someone is told to obey someone else, a class distinction is made.

Jesus expected obedience to his word, and if anyone brings the teachings of Christ as an “ambassador” of Christ, it is still the word of God that is to be obeyed, not the person. Faithful “leaders” in Christ, led individuals to Jesus Christ, not to themselves. But since the organization has its own set of rules that add and detract from the word of God, it is not a surprise that JWs must obey the elders.

“When we loyally obey the elders and other brothers appointed by “the faithful and discreet slave,” we show that we want to help Christ’s brothers.” ws15 3/15 pp. 24-29

“Why do we obey the elders? Because we appreciate these “gifts in men” and we love Jehovah and Christ, the Head of the congregation.” ws14 6/15 p. 8

“Is it, in fact, men I am now trying to persuade or God? Or am I seeking to please men? If I were yet pleasing men, I would not be Christ’s slave.” Gal 1:10

By the way, the “gifts in men” apply to the “saints”/anointed that the elders hold authority over, and which authority cannot be “challenged”. Eph 4:4-12 (Wt 02/8/1)

What happens if someone challenges the “authority” of an elder? No brotherhood to be found there.
