PLEASE HELP! Assist in 1914 Rebuttal...

ok, so i'm trying to just plant a tiny seed of doubt somewhere in the cracks of my mothers mind, but that woman has 'jehovah' tattooed on her chest!

anyway, i would not only like help for her benefit but also for my benefit.

so it all started when i questioned her about 1914.... i wrote to her: 'as you had suggested i wanted to do some research.

Your mother had the matter broadly correct when she established the pivotal date 539 based on secular evidence but failed to mention that 607 is then calculated from the release of the exiles under by Cyrus in 537. One counts back seventy years to 607 for the fall of Jerusalem. These events concern rulership and its otherthrow and in fulfillment of the seven times which began in 607 which marked the end of the Davidic kingdom until it was restored with Messianic kingdom in 1914. The seven times is a prophetic period of 2520 years and is counted fro 607 until 1914.

The subject is a fascinating one and has attracted much interest over the centuries by many expositors based upon by a revealed and secular accurate chronology. Most of the postings on this subject are simply false and misleading because these cannot give you an exact date for the fall of Jerusalem as either 586 or 587 nor is there any consistent interpretation of the seventy years. The proponents of such a false chronology have created a mire of confusion which is devoid of any prophetic implications In contast, the biblical chronolgy is simple and easily understood and thus constitutes a proper basis for faith as the hallmark of true Christianity.

Be assured Mom knows best and you would be very wise if you used the Society.s explanation on chronology and prophecy and compared this current orthodoxy.

You are the dumb one because you have failed to understand what our dear brothers are teaching us. The fact of the matter is that Moses asked Jehovah two questions. The first is asked in verse 11 followed by a second question in verse 13 and it is the last question that is referred to in paragraph 2. Further, the Society's comments are well supported by commentary on verse 13 as discussed in pp.37-38 in EXODUS- Word Biblical Commentary, Vol.3, by John I Durham, 1987, Word Books, Waco, Texas.

Watchtower Study for 3-21-2004

if you still go to meetings, has anyone read the watchtower for this sunday's study?

its really really messed up, and they're still trying to justify 1914 and 607 and stuff.

i was reading that sunday before the study w/ the elder, and so i just told him that i didn't think jerusalem fell in 607. showed him a few things, then now both of us are researching it.. personal opinion of this weeks' watchtower is that its more of a crock of shit than it has been for awhile.

The date of 607 can be verified despite your contention to the contrary on the biblical data. I have full knowledge of all of the available secular evidence for the dates 586/7 as I have followed this subject for several decades and have a well stocked library on chronology. You are correct that salvation does not rest on dates but by following Jehovah's revealed chronology, the genuine Christian is better prepared to be about the his Master' s business.

The Society's defence of the sacred date is commendable. The explanation of how this year is calculated is simple and functionary as it directly proves the significance of 1914. The calculation of the calendrical year 607 stands in mark contrast to the convolutions and deception promoted in the Jonsson hypothesis and by theories of higher critics.who can only suggest the useless dates of 586 or 587.

I do not regard criticisms of the NWT as arising from Devili inspired attacks but simply arise out of fear, prejudice and poor scholarship. I have personally met the hallowed Metzger some years ago at Macquarie University when he was invited as a guest scholar by the Society of Early Christianity. Metzger is regarded as one of the foremost NT scholars and was one of the earliest critics of the NWT. His conduct at that conference failed to impress two very eager Witness Regular Pioneers who saw his approach first hand with a Higher Critic.

It does not require the endorsement of any non Witness scholar because the scholarly community is envious of the fact that the Witnesses are the beneficiares of this transaltion and have resolved to make it accessible to all peoples of the earth in their searching for the true God, Jehovah. This translation is a powerful demonstration of the activity of Holy Spirit in using unknown anointed Christians and others in producing a scholarly work that triumphantly honours the Author of Holy Scripture. There is no translation within Christendom that can be placed alongside the NWT for accuracy, style and trans- lingual facility. The Watch Tower Society has demonstrated a capacity for multi translations from English into other tongues and so the NWT is the only multi lingual Bible ever published. Tell that to Metzger, Rowley, Martin and others of their ilk.

numerous explanations have been put forward for this and for the future prospects of the organization.

but, above all else, i believe that there is one overriding reason behind it all.

Do not despair for the Socie'ty'"s chronology is as sound as a bell. The dates for the Fall of Jerusalem as 607 and 1914 for the beginning and end of the Gentile Times are verifiable. It is well pleasing that the faithful slave continues to advance these biblical and prophetic dates despite great opposition from apostates and those who do not love God's Word.
