Told my JW Story at AA Meeting

i was invited to be a guest speaker at the saturday night aa speaker's meeting.

this meeting usually has a large crowd and they get somebody with longtime sobriety to come up and tell his story of "what i used to be like, what happened, and what i'm like now" as an example for others.

i'll have eight years in january, so i guess that makes me fairly longtime.. i told them:.

YEAH comf! I wished I could have been there to hear this in person! I am a long time active member of Alanon, and my husband of AA. The 12-steps literally are our "bible". I would have sat right in the front row for ya!

Speaking for myself, the 12 steps have helped me tremendously not only with the effects of alcoholism in my life, but also w/the effects of the Jehovah's Witnesses in my life. I wish more people would apply the Steps.....going joke here in our home is that before my little guy learns the ABC's he will learn the steps! LOL

Hats off to you......doesn' t it feel good to share? I spoke last year at our annual AA/Alanon banquet.......very humbling and uplifting experience. Makes a person realize just how far they have come and how great life can be!

You said it Jesus Christ! I usually don't get too excited about sports (excluding my daughter's basketball game......I do get a little riled during her games) but hockey.....OMG......I just love it! Love it! Very talented atheletes! Last year we took our kids to see the University of Minnesota Duluth Womans Hockey team--talk about a bunch of talented and rough girls! Wowweee!

Notintersted!........you live so close and haven't gone? You know what that means........Filthy and I are just gonna have to come and drag you out to a game!

Filthy took me to the MN Wild/Nashville Predators game last night. We (MN) won 4-2. It was great! Marian Gaborik was fantastic.......the hat trick was fantastic.....made the crowd go wild!

Had the biggest laugh.....someone won a contest for a "one nights stay" at a local casino/hotel......but the announcer got mixed up and said that she won a "one night stand" at the casino/hotel! The woman looked so suprised, needless to say, so did the announcer!

And, do I dare say, WE have the most "coolest" hockey anthem? Aahheemmmm.......

Englishman......I am glad you had fun! I agree, count me in next year too! So far, this year has gone so smooth......I would most definately like to organize this again next Holiday Season!

Do you plan to donate your organs when you die?

i just saw this movie john q. with denzel washington, and it is a great movie.

the subject is about health care or lack of,,, and the need for organ donations.

i have always felt strongly about this and this movie really made me think about doing something instead of just saying it.

Yes, Dede, I plan to donate any organs that I can after I die. I also give blood every 3 months and was planning on donating my eggs (I just get rid of them every month anyway and don't want anymore children) but just found out that I am too old for that. My grandmother told me that I am what they call a "spent hen"! LOL

Donating organs, plasma, blood.....whatever.......I think is the most precious gift that someone can give.

termite.......you are more than welcome! I am suprised that it got to your home so quick.......I was thinking it would take 2-3 weeks! WOW!

The hot fudge sauce is home made and will do a sore throat wonders! (just make sure to heat it up first, you aren't gonna be able to pour it out of the jar otherwise). As for the other gifts, I applaud you for your patience to wait until Christmas. Put it under the tree and think of me!

A Midlife Crisis?

we moved to a new area, bought a house in the country to be closer to cc's office.

i left a good business *hair stylist and make-up artist*.

i haven't worked in about 2 years.

My sister on the other hand is a stay at home mom, but she is also a lazy one. Her house is still a mess and half the time her husband does the cooking. If I had it as good as she does, my house would be spotless and my husband wouldn't have to do anything when he came home from work. IMHO her husband is to good for her LOL

Lilacs, I know women like that and it drives me nuts. I am very fortunate and very thankful that I have the circumstance to be a SAHM.....and I will tell you what, my house is usually clean (sometimes I let it get a little messy) and my family is WELL fed. When my hubby comes home on the weekends,his laundry is always done, the house cleaned and I feed him like a king. It is the least I can do since I am at home. I take pride in my work at home.....and he always let me know that he appreciates it.
