i remember having read somewhere, but i cannot find it anymore, that it is possible to debunk the 1914 calculus using only jw publications, like "insight on the scriptures" (chronologies) for example.. do you have any sources about that to suggest to me?.

I used to present lots of facts from articles and scriptures, but now my approach is different.
I open a calendar and ask when the person was born. Then I say, Oh that's not even on this calendar. Do you remember when Charles Taze Russel went to visit Jerusalem? They almost always say no.
Then I say - "Neither does anyone else because they are all dead for many decades."
It never sways anyone but I do it anyway.

Besides, I suspect they are too busy wringing their hands over the PA CSA, the Japan blood transfusion issue, decreasing donations, pending depositions for the GB, the Tony Morris "whatever it was debacle", the failed attempt to launch Ramapo and how to re-appropriate the donations they received, what to do with Patterson, whaere to house all the elderly, and more......

i've been absent for a while, because i've been focusing more in helping portuguese readers know the truth about jw.
we're trying to form an association in portugal to help people abused by religious and non-religious organisations.
i've also been trying to get a little away of these issues because my life has been really complicated since i slammed the door on jw's face!.
That certainly appears to be likely in PA, and I hope it proves to be the case. However, it takes real fortitude to see these things through to the end, and most DA's don't have the political capital. It is time-consuming and expensive as well so sometimes the money just runs out.
If they have the databases that WTC protected for so long, then it will be a game changer.

Eden - there have been others over the years who resisted change. After Ted Jaracz passed away, changes that some clamored for finally became possible. As a Body, the GB does not always work together in unison.
Now the announcement has been removed. Ideas as to why? Is Anthony still a brother?
As I recall, Franz was given about $10K to help him transition but I also remember that he rejected a stipend because he did not want to sign the WTC NDA. That is probably why they kept pursuing him - they sensed that he would write a book - which he did after he was DF'd.

Diogenesister - Bottlegate was a little strange but I thought he was buying gifts frankly. The flasher overcoat he wore made him look like a perv but I have never thought he was anything more than a mean-spirited person.
Was he a heavy drinker - of course!! So were all the GB I ever knew - I didn’t know any teetotalers.
I think most everyone is glad he is off the GB, but it doesn’t make the GB any nobler now that he is gone. They are still shielding over 20k pedos, still taking the money of the members and giving nothing in return, still breaking up families, still flip flopping on teachings so that few JWs even know what the teaching de jour is - and more nonsense than I care to type with my thumbs.
Tony’s departure means very little as far as WTC credibility is concerned. They are still false religion - and I am still free and happy!
has the auxiliary class or second school been done away with?.
when i grew up in my congregation we even had three schools, so three bible readings and three lots of student assignments.. after covid it seems everything is easier, less assignments now some only seem to get one or two per year.. being an elder is much easier these days, everything is done for you.
meetings are full of videos and q&as need no preparation you could take a watchtower or cong book study with zero preparation and most midweek meetings have q&as that requires no preparation .
LOL - in most KHs now, if they divided for a second school, there would be no one to listen in the main hall.

i gave my all for many years but about eight years ago i started to question many things.
Enoughisenough - I am glad you are free. I sure hope you have recovered/are recovering. I appreciate your posts as they have made an impression on me. At least know that.
