  How has 3 years of inflation affected WTC?

  the current u.s. administration and the fed says inflation is hard to tame.

  it was over 9% at it's peak.

  one of the greatest increases is price of food, something that everyone feels to some extent.

  I can’t say but I am concerned about the many Bethelites who might find themselves desperate if WTC cuts them. Already many have been sent packing and the ones I know are having a difficult time getting by. Most don’t have even Social Security.

  Who Was The Biggest Jackass Circuit Overseer You Ever Met?

  there was on older white-haired circuit overseer in houston around 1989 or 1990. last name started with a w i think.... not sure though.

  even the most brain-dead robotic elders told me he was offensive.

  Kingdom Hall Insurance

  that the wt "self insures" kingdom halls has come up in occasional conversations on here.

  how exactly does that work?

  do they* actually set aside a portion of the monthly remittance from each kingdom hall and save into a pool to cover damage etc.

  In my years as a JW, I don’t ever recall WTC reimbusing any cong for expenses that were covered by the “self insurance”.

  Overlapping Generation

  the september 2015 broadcast had david splane explain matthew 24:34 “truly, i say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place”.

  his explanation of this scripture was by means of a chart to indicate an overlapping generation.. .

  no scripture was used to show the overlapping generation concept, and as a result it makes no sense.. to illustrate how crazy this concept is, look at the lyrics of the song my generation.. my generation.

  WTC can call it anything they want but it was a desperation attempt to avoid the consequences of a failed prediction - pure and simple.

  Since they were forced to amend the 1914 generation teaching, there has been no substitute teaching that follows any logic. Remaining JW's (minus those who are not actively planning to fade or DA) cannot explain what the current thinking is. This is a REAL problem for the GB who surely know that they are one pivotal moment away from having to admit that they have no clue.

  These men don't seem to have a plan to address the elephant in the room other than growing beards and allowing women to wear pants to the meetings.

  Current blood card?

  i have a question regarding the current blood card- did the blood card always have a spot where the jw gives the elders the authority to pull the plug (so to speak) and to admit them to a long term facility?

  as well as no blood, naturally.

  if the elders have no financial responsibility how is this possible?

  Only named individuals on the DPA have authority, and ONLY when the person is incapacitated. HLC have zero say if they are not specifically named on the document - as one would expect.

  It is/was common for HLC to skirt HIPPA in attempts to circumvent privacy and control the situation. Some sincerely think that they are justified but it is still illegal. Nurses still get fired for violating patient privacy. Putting hospital personnel in a position that could cost them their job is really thoughtless. Violations of this type can follow a medical worker as they seek employment after job loss.

  memory from long ago: my old mate from high school lived next door to a jw and was often "treated" to the latest jw literature.

  when the "you can live forever in paradise on earth"* book came out, this neighbour waxed lyrical about how good this book was and how powerful the message was.

  he acted really keen about it, like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

  Beth Sarim - I think you are correct. Super PIMIs seem to be conspicuously silent, something relatively new. Maybe it’s my imagination working overtime but I don’t hear the bubbly assertions of yesteryear very often if at all.

  A decade ago, I compiled numbers that indicated a downhill trend in the cong that seemed to be accelerating. It was ignored by fellow elders and the CO’s. I dropped it. It was real and the trend continued to the present. From a business perspective, I thought many congs were at serious risk of disintegrating. When COs see this now, they consolidate pubs to offset the losses. This works for a while but seldom solves the problem.

  JWs are sliding backwards in attendance, activity and excitement, and don’t seem to be able to reverse the trend. Correspondence with PIMOs in other countries indicate a similar situation with only a few exceptions. Notably the absence of internet access may be a significant factor.

  Overall, the average number of elders by age bracket has gradually shifted upward, despite Bethel’s willingness to appoint younger men with less experience. Show me where I am wrong.

  I am certain that they were massaged. Local congregation activity fluctuated month to month as they were affected by season, weather, events and more - but national monthly and annual reports had little variation other than going up. If public corporations had a chart like Watchtower, they would defy every law of economics. That was a significant clue that they were fudging the numbers.
