What is this "religion"?

for a long time, i was convinced jehovah witnesses were just people preaching the word of god in a different way than other christians.

i was shown the real truth over the past few months.

i've been friends with this guy for over 5 years.

It is unfortunate that your heart is already taken by this man. Your path choices will hurt which ever way you choose to go.

If you had only just met him and came here for advice, I would say run run run. Plenty of fish in the sea and all that.

You are not a JW. The elders have no say over you or control of you.

You should continue to research this religion as much as you can. Share what you find with your boyfriend. It is NOT a harmless, loving religion. It IS a mind control cult.

He started this relationship with you in contravention of the rules of the cult. The burden is his not yours.

Make no mistake, if you want to continue to see him, you will be expected to convert.

Choose wisely.

this thread is prompted by losch's stupid 'decrees' in the march 2018 broadcast, where he denounced online information that may be 'negative' about the organization.. it strikes me that the gb are so dumb!

My mother just this week accused my sibling of feeding me "rubish" to stop me from attending meetings. Said he was killing me. He told her that he has not spoken to me at all and that the internet is full of information. She told him the internet is full of apostates. They are scared to look anywhere other than the borg site. Satan will take over their brains from one wrong click!

How long is a generation?

what splain does in his talk and chart illustration is make the leap that a generation can have two groups.

and in this case the two groups span more than 108 years.

but no where in scripture is there ever a notion that a generation has two groups.

Generation definition is. "all of the people born and living at about the same time regarded collectively". Synonyms "age, age group, peer group, cohort, stage of life.

It is mind boggling that anyone at all actually buys the overlapping generation explanation. Further proof that they are not actually listening. They have latched onto the promise of eternal life with raised dead ones in a panda patting paradise and all the rest is not relevant to them.

The increase in the Anointed Ones

to illustrate how the botchtower's groupies are losing brain cells...last year an elder told me some of the increase in the anointed is due to those who have been unfaithful and needed to be replaced.

when i was in first grade i knew that if i had 10 marbles and i lost one and a friend gave me a marble to replace the one i lost that i once again had 10 not 11 marbles.. jdubs are very good at not thinking..

And the thing about the anointed is, even the GB knows that there are a lot of posers and liars out there, and even some people who genuinely believe they are anointed but are simply delusional. Why do you think the anointed are never given special treatment? Not because we're not supposed to "idolize" our fellow humans or give certain people preferential treatment.

Yes well the GB know all about the posers and liars because that is what THEY are. Yet they absolutely want to be given preferential treatment and love being idolized on their very own show.

18-Year Old Daughter Moves in with Boyfriend and studying to become a witness

my 18-year-old-daughter, who has not finished high school, left south carolina on january 31 with her 22-year old boyfriend to move in with his family in california.

they are jehovah witness.

daughter: i love you too.

You have been to JW org site and showed your interest. Now you can further research and when you can, share your research with her. Go to JW facts and read there and encourage her to do the same.

When she shares this information with her new family they may very well send her back. Reading anything about the JWs that isn't written by them is a sure fire way of getting thrown out.

i had an interview today and was asked a question o have gotten in the past: what are you most passionate about?

it was a struggle to come up with an answer on this one.

as a jw, the things i was passionate about were chosen for me.

I have no clue. I hate those kinds of questions. Same as what are your weaknesses? My weaknesses are chocolate and coffee. Oh and I am terrible at interviews.

I always thought that if the anointed ones who know they are good enough to make it to heaven can't stick with it, what hope do the rest of us have?

Disfellowshipped/disassociated – How did your parents handle it?

to those who were disfellowshipped/disassociated – how did your still-in parents handle it?.

i don’t want to fade, so i am thinking about disassociating soon – i don’t care if i’m playing by the org’s rules, i just want out.. however, i am concerned about how my parents will react.

i don’t want them to become super depressed or whatever due to me leaving the org.. i don’t want them to be hurt by my decision to leave the org, but i feel like there is no way of avoiding this..

I have not DAd or DFd. I stopped going to meetings and witnessing and my mother is depressed, sad and afraid for my life. She wrote a friend of ours saying that the pain is unbearable.

There is no way out without hurting someone.
