The elephant on the street

as a contractor i travel around for my job, i was stopped this morning to buy some milk at a store in a small village i guess and as i turned a corner i saw 2 elders i know personally manning a cart in the cold outside the store with not a soul in sight and an unlikely place for much traffic even though it was outside a country store.

1 elder is my brother in laws father and the other was in my old cong when i left, i said hello, talked about the weather and general chit chat and was my usual self, they were pleasant also but nothing was mentioned to me about anything spiritual etc.

i know they will be aware of some of my reasons for leaving (the few that i talked about initially before shutting my trap) but they were unwilling to engage in saving my life with their work!

My mother does the "babysitting the bookshelf" witnessing. She told me story of the cart being approached by an irate apostate. The woman was carrying on about something and the sisters asked her to show them. The woman said she couldn't. The sisters asked her to leave them be. She continues her rant until a lady watching came over and asked for a book. The lady said she had been watching the exchange and felt bad for the sisters so decided to rescue them by taking a book.

Goes to show that sometimes unwitnessing to cart watchers is not always the best way to go.

So lonely and isolated.

reading some post on here today has me wonder ing if there is some others out there that understands the duplicet fickle person i am on the inside.

i was brought to the kingdom hall 3-4 times a week.

to this day i have an aversion totuesdays.

Tuesdays trigger me too! We have made sure to be busy on Tuesday evenings. Our week is very full now and I wonder how we had time to go to the meetings. Haha.

It's hard at first but after a period of deprogramming it will get easier.

I got a concerned for your life message a few days ago.

"Miss you guys. Not nagging, just saying. Can I help? Not nagging but when are you coming back? Not being pushy but I am worried about you. Don't disappear when we are so close. I too have been overwhelmed with life lately. We can help each other."

Not bad considering it's been 2 years since I stopped going.

Oh and I am not overwhelmed with life but I guess it's easier for them to think that.

New brother to have a bible study with

well i moved to a new congregation, and i have no one to study with and i didnt have a bible study in weeks and i was loving but one meeting my aunt said ''im going to set up a bible study with brother bob (dont his name)''.well come to find out brother bob is a man that puts a lot of pressure on you to join the school etc.. well right now im like fuck,because i dont know how to deal with brother bob so i just wanted to know if any could help me..

If I recall correctly you are still in school and early teens. You don't have much say in what happens right now so sit in the study, answer the reading comprehension exercise from the paragraphs and no more. Play the game, slow and steady. Slow!! No rush to do anything such as service or talks and avoid baptism at all costs.

Say anxiety holds you back from being on the school and talking at the doors. If he makes you go in field service with him, refuse to do any talking just say you want to watch and learn.

Eventually he will no longer want to waste his time or you will be old enough to make your move.

Relax and be patient.

It sucks too love boxing and being in a JW family

during this new year i started to love boxing and i can only really do is shadowbox which is good training, but i really want to do more.

now you might be thinking ''why the heck would this kid take a likeing in boxing when he is in a jw family?

''well thats the point of this post it sucks that i cant do a sport that i like and i want to spend time doing because jw's dont let you do sports and dear god you wont be able to do something like boxing.. (i just made this because i just wanted to talk about this and some of you will understand if you wanted too do sports but you couldnt because you where a part of a jw family).

I wanted to play tennis. My brother soccer. We couldn't do these things because extra curricular activities were frowned upon.

I think I would rather not be invited than invited and ignored by everyone the entire evening which has happened to me.

a former jehovah’s witness who sexually assaulted three young boys says his homosexual inclinations were repressed by his religion and manifested in his crimes.. gavin andrew lamont, 46, was jailed for four years today for assaulting two vulnerable teenagers in the early to mid-90s and another boy about 20 years later.. lamont encouraged the teens to give him massages and suggested he needed help checking for testicular cancer.. district court judge linda petrusa said lamont, who knew he was homosexual from about age 13, had significant cognitive distortions around sex because of his religious beliefs.. .

she said the victims, who were aged between 14 and 16, were vulnerable because of their youth and lack of sophistication.. judge petrusa sentenced lamont to four years behind bars for indecently dealing with a child and four counts of indecent assault.. lamont was kicked out of the mundaring congregation in 1997 after one of his victims complained to other members, but was reinstated after doing counselling with elders.. he was kicked out of the congregation for a second time in 2014 after another victim made a complaint.. lamont’s crimes came to the attention of police last year through the royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse.. defence lawyer seamus rafferty described the case as complex, saying lamont struggled with his sexuality because his religion told him it was a sin.. he told the court the church was the essence of lamont’s being and said his client tried to repress his sexuality and ended up behaving in “naïve, unsophisticated and pathetic ways”.. lamont’s parents and sister are all living with complicated health issues and rely heavily on his help and care.. mr rafferty asked judge petrusa to give lamont a conditional suspended jail term, saying he was the glue that was holding his family together.. “this is a case for the exercise of mercy, its mercy towards them (his family) and nobody else,” he said.. judge petrusa accepted a prison term would be tough on lamont’s family but said an immediate jail term was the only appropriate punishment.. in a statement to the court, one of the victims said he felt that he was “forever stained” by lamont’s crime.. he said the abuse had made him self-conscious in his dealings with his own child.. lamont will be eligible for parole after spending two years behind bars.. .

More and more of these cases will come out and they will not be able to suggest that all of them are malicious lies. It will be interesting.

Nosey Brothers and Sisters

please explain some of your past experiences of dealing with dealing with nosy brothers and sisters and how you dealt with them.

also have you ever dealt with a brother or sister who brings up your past just as a new topic for a conversation?

Nosey and interfering is what they do.

When I was a teenager a young brother in our congregation was showing interest in me. He spent a lot of time at our house and one day an elder visited while this young man was at our place. When the young man left, the elder turned to me and said "if you marry him I will not come to the wedding!"

What a horrible thing of this "Shepherd of the flock" to say. As if his opinion mattered.

My failed attempts to help my brainwashed family

first of all i just want to say a quick thank you to all of you who’s been listening to my story and my little rants and dilemmas lol.

this website has helped me so much to not feel alone and to keep me from feeling like i’m going crazy.

anyways, i’m defenitly going to try much harder from this point on to play the part until i move out after this summer.
