Its interesting that when you are doubting they tell you to pray about it. They never consider that perhaps the answer to your prayers is to get out of the cult. I too prayed and now I am here.

I was fortunate to have a reasonable father. He never thought it would be a good idea to leave school to pioneer. Lucky he said you should set yourself up in a good job so that if you want to work part time you can still afford your bills.
My sibling saw a mental health professional who told him he has many patients with issues as a result of being a JW.

We had family over last week for a meal. The mandatory preaching began and they had my teenage son look up scriptures on the JW app. He chose to read out the king James version which appears alongside. Should have heard how upset they got when he wouldn't read out the new world translation.

Living with non belivers
by Blade666 inmy question is can you as a jw live on same premises as a non jw.... in split house/property with no sexual relations or anything involved... i am being forced to move due to a "sister" wanting to go back to her god and has made the point of saying she cannot have a male around.
even though the property itself is split with seperate access for both parts of the house.. she has put a blanket rule out saying the whole property itself... doesnt make sense to me nor to any of the elders i have spoken to regarding the matter.. yes i called them as i know next to nothing about the faith.. .
i find it strange that two elders urge a non jw to seek justice from fair trading and rental tribunal as they themselves do not belive the actions of the "sister" in question or her family to be correct or right... .

Sounds to me like you would be better off far away from the Looney woman even if the law is on your side.

A Little Direction Please
by Brian J ini'm an active elder, cobe, just got home from the meeting where i handled the treasures part and concluded by announcing a friend of mine has been d/f,.....blah blah blah...and over the last year have woken up.
i simply cannot spill my guts to my wife and children as it would be family suicide.
i have zero desire to bash, spread my feelings, or become an "apostate".

I recently read an experience of someone in your position. He moved ever so slowly and used the family study arrangement to encourage his family to research topics and discuss what they found with no judgement on opinions. A safe space to research and discuss everything thereby allowing the entire family to use their own critical thinking abilities to come to the same place he already was. It was very effective.

JW HLC....a mixed bunch...what has been your experience?

i was never one myself, but i knew several of them personally.
most struck me as being generally decent human beings.

We didn't have a blood issue. We needed to find a surgeon for my dad. We wanted to make sure we got a JW friendly one. Rang local HLC rep who told us to find our own and let them know how it went because they are always looking for good surgeons. What the!!!!!!?
Anyway we did end up finding a really good surgeon on our own. The inevitable could not to avoided and when my dad was on his death bed in hospital that same HLC brother came to visit and said to me "I didn't think your dad was this sick".
Words cannot express how I feel about them.

Unwritten Theory
by moreconfusedthanever inhave any of you heard some theories from jws that are not based on scripture?
i have, in the past few days, heard a couple that have me shaking my head.. first one is that since satan was around during the creation period and probably watched on as things were being made, it is possible that he is responsible for the creation of some of the more hideous and nasty creatures that live among us.
surely god wouldn't make horrible things.. second one is that satan already had a bad attitude before the creation of adam and eve and was collecting followers among the other angels early on and stirring trouble.

Scratchme1010 you are right. Even that is discouraged by the JWs. I can't get past the fact that the bible as we have it is not the actual bible and so much will have been lost in translation.

You know the crazy is not limited to JWs. Just yesterday I was talking to a lady whose daughter is very promiscuous at age 15 and she has been expelled from a couple of schools now for carrying on with boys during school hours. So I asked her if she has given any thought as to why her daughter may be this way? Her response - "She has a demon on her. We have to keep praying that the demon will go away and leave her alone so we can get our angelic daughter back."
I was thinking she may benefit from seeing a professional such as a psychologist but I doubt the poor girl will get such help.
