Oh my god that is crazy! I remember when her brother Michael converted to Islam after leaving JWs, but his sister too? What is the attraction?
Well, after that Super Bowl nipple-slip, maybe she just wanted a religion that would allow for no further wardrobe malfunctions!

A stunning piece of LOGIC from the Apostle Paul
by nicolaou in1st corinthians 15 12-17. but if it is preached that christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even christ has been raised.
and if christ has not been raised, your faith is futile... .

I think it's interesting Paul said, "IF the resurrection of Christ is invalid, our faith is futile." It seems he is questioning it. With all of Paul's ranting and raving on the issue, why don't we hear more on the resurrection from James, John or Peter?
It's because Paul was mentally disturbed. "I reply as a madman!" Basing the doctrine of the resurrection upon his words makes no sense.

Hilarious! They look like two stoners who stay in bed all day who barely made it to the door to answer the Witnesses. The music is pretty good, though!
It reminds me of the shock of seeing the Watchtower in a picture of Huey "Piano" Smith in the original Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock n Roll. Now that brother could play!

What Were Your Elders Real World Jobs?
by pale.emperor inwe all know that education is severely demonized in this religion.
and that the elders are appointed based on how many meetings they attend, hours they put in on the ministry and general attitude to other elders (as apposed to, you know, actual theological training and counseling) - so my question is, what were your elders occupations outside the kingdom hall?.
in my old congregation our elders consisted of:.

Elders in 80s and 90s for me:
Retired small factory owner
Retired auto factory supervisor
Car salesman/business owner

Is Christianity contingent on belief in a talking snake?
by cobweb inthis is a question mainly for those who are christian as i myself am not:.
to what extent is christianity contingent on a belief in the book of genesis.
i know there are some christians who accept that the creation story is a myth, and maybe the adam and eve story too.

Yes, Hisclarkness has stated the contingency of Christianity. Within the two central laws of Christ lies the foundation: Love God and love your neighbor. NOT a talking snake. Yes, Jesus also talked about that, but in the context of archetypal mythology, as Aha suggests, the Law of Love was understood in the worldview of Hebrew understanding 2000 years ago.
While the archetype of serpent and savior are difficult to nail down, we understand the next chapter of Genesis explains the fall from grace for mankind is somehow tied to the shift in human worldview as pastoral hunter-gatherers were supplanted by a rising agrarian civilization. Abel was considered still close to perfection for offering his prized sheep, but Cain was considered inferior for his offering from the farm.

Counting time
by Emma ini may not have put this in the correct spot, but i do think it's scandalous the way time gets counted now.
i've seen a cart at the edge of our farmer's market, never anyone close enough to talk.
yesterday was a drizzly day and there were two carts set up, covered in plastic, "witnessing" on their own.

I loved it when we worked a distant rural territory, and someone would take us to their in-town territory to knock on a door or two "to start our time." Supposedly we couldn't count our drive time unless we "punched in" with an official ringing of a doorbell.
I always started my time when we pulled out of the KH parking lot.

Dating J.W small fishpond compared to ocean....who married a loser because of this???
by Witness 007 inso your a witness and want to get married or jehovah forbid remarried.
welcome to the pond of losers you can chose from!!!
who struck out in the marriage department..
-
Zaccheus
I married my best friend pretty much. Not exactly a loser, but we were both unprepared for life in the real world and we had problems from the beginning. Also, if we had been allowed to have a normal sexual relationship before marriage, we probably would not have rushed in so young, had opportunities to date others, and may have realized we were better as friends instead of marriage mates.

PRESS RELEASE: This is not over, on the contrary. I do not retract.
by sp74bb ini appreciate all the expressions of interest and solidarity.
it has been a very intense week.
i started with the help of many of you, a particular war for my rights as a european citizen.. we have achieved an important space and advertising with a single complaint, which is a great success that i share with you all.. the press has not only spoken about a single complaint, but they gave a full coverage on asocial behavior of jehovah's witnesses and the last, a very hard editorial from the newspaper el periodico director (link).

Fantastico! You are fighting for all of us, but especially those who have been severely abused by the Darktower. Be discreet, but stay strong!

What's The First "Worldly" Thing You Did When You Exited The Cult?
by pale.emperor inwhen you finally and officially exited the cult, whether it be by disfellowshipping, disassociating or fading - what was the first things you did that are considered "worldly"?.
for me, it was like crash landing on another planet that looked like earth but was completely different to the earth i knew.
i wanted to learn everything that i thought i already knew.. first things i did:.
