With all the electronic gadgets out there, it wouldn't be a huge problem to have your cell phone / iPhone set to voice record a conversation, even if you did have another person there as an eyewitness to the conversation. That way your "trusted friend" can't beg off or conveeeeniently "forget" if the Elders™ start trying to intimidate you or them.

a very bad child molester moved into the hall, and was starting to be used.
i knew of his background and could not stand him or stand to see him gaining the apporval of the elders and congregation.

i will be sending some of you a pm or fb message some time soon.. are there any ex-dub ladies here who managed to influence your husband to re-examine and eventually quit the borg?.
it is very difficult to get to the genuine personality of an indoctrinated jw but if anyone can do it, a loving spouse can.

Your best bet would have been to notify the police of the child molester's whereabouts and activities.
You would have remained anonymous, and the Elders™ would have had to answer some very uncomfortable questions.... maybe even get a lawyer to defend themselves.
Regarding "Sisters™ are not to talk to the Brothers™ alone" - I tend to agree, but not for the stupid sexual misconduct bullshit they think. When confronting someone over a legal matter (and aiding and abetting a child molester is definitely a legal matter) you need a witness to the conversation who can corroborate who was present, what was said and what the response was. It is totally a matter of CYA.

I wanted to leave for almost a year before I even considered discussing it with Mr Scully.
I'd take the children with me to the library and check out books on the topics of social psychology, mind control, brainwashing and propaganda, trying to deal with the cognitive dissonance of believing that I was not a victim of brainwashing / mind control (because that's what the WTS said), and the painful realization that my worst fears were true. I also started watching a Social Psychology course on the university channel and became fascinated with the inner workings of the manipulative nature of JWs.
The approach I finally decided to take with Mr Scully was similar to the one that was used in the Live Forever book - how it would be a huge betrayal of trust to find out that the JW leadership had lied to us. Then we looked up the definition of the word "lie" in the Insight volumes. The phrase "it is not necessary to disclose truthful information to people who are not entitled to it" blew him away once he realized that regular R&F JWs could be included in that group of "people who are not entitled" to honesty, especially once we started turning up one example after another of dishonesty within the Organization™, and dishonesty as a lifestyle choice of many of the JWs we knew.
It took about 6 months' worth of breadcrumbs, but eventually he said he was fed up with the dishonesty in the religion, and we started making an exit plan.

Obituary / Infomercial?? The first I've ever seen. How about you?
by FatFreek 2005 inthis morning's local paper carried the obituary of a local musician, designer, etc., whose memorial will be some 14 miles from where we live.
what caught my eye is the advertisement within the body (no pun intended) of the obituary.
apparently the family doesn't want this man's passing to go without a bit of commercial leverage.

Rainbows
by Aussie Oz inwe had the most fantastic rainbow here yesterday, probably the most solid colored one i have ever seen.
it reminded me that jehovah would never again flood the earth... not!.
i remarked to my daughter that the rainbow reminded me that the genesis account was a myth like the aboriginal dream times...rainbows are science, sunlight, rain mist/drops and refracted light.. i said, after it had rained and the sun came out, no matter whether 'god' was involved or not, there was going to be a rainbow.

I'm actually in the midst of reading Unweaving the Rainbow by Richard Dawkins. I think you and your daughter might enjoy it. Dawkins discusses how it is still possible to enjoy the beauty and diversity of nature, even once things are understood scientifically.
