  OK folks, do you know your southern language?

  when i served where the need is great, i wrote down some.

  of the most amazing phrase that people say in the south.. straight to the point.. a few that i found.

  guess what is being said.. 1) as easy as sliding off a greasy log backward.. 2)busy as a stump-tailed cow in fly time.. 3)either fish or cut bait.. 4)even a blind hog finds an acorn now and then.. 5)happy as a dead pig in the sunshine.

  For all the emphasis that the WTS places on reading the bible "in context" in order to make a correct interpretation, I was shocked when I first realized that their references to scientific works were blatant mis-quotes and quotes taken out of context.

  My take on it, now that I'm no longer a jw, is that it is a deliberate countermeasure on the minds of jws, to keep them from exploring scholarly writings from other sources. The idea that the WTS is Spirit Directed™ and is stringent in its 'read the bible in context' motto prevents the average jw from even considering that such flagrant academic dishonesty is a possibility with the WTS.

  my jw sister was over tonight for supper and after a couple of glasses of vino she told me that "today's watchtower study was bullshit" and that one of the 'elite elders' made a comment that bothered her a great deal.. he was apparently at bethel not too long ago and "one of the big-wigs" who was giving a talk said "don't be afraid of dying for the truth brothers" and this jackass was stupid enough to repeat this at the meeting.

  it bothered my sister a great deal and i said to her: "soooo are they going to start passing out the kood-aid or what?

  " she knew exactly what i was talking about and she said "ya, i wondered the same thing.

  That moron probably was clueless as to what it actually means to "die for The Truth™". Unlike your sister and her late husband.

  What an asshole.

  Seriously, I have been worried about the increasing persistence in emphasizing dying for The Truth™. For at least 10 years, I've been concerned about the possibilities, and not just in terms of JWs martyring themselves and their children on the No Blood™ altar. I'm just at a loss as to what we can do to prevent tragic outcomes.

  It has been my experience that it is better to recuse oneself from a battle of wits where one's opponent is so clearly unarmed. He is spouting so much anti-Apostate™ rhetoric that it is obvious that the thoughts are directly from the WTS and not from his own mind.
