He said it's a comfort to me. Me: "huh"? He repeated that it's been a comfort to him and that it's kept him faithful.
Just like the sword of Damocles, I suppose. This guy looks pretty comfortable, doesn't he?
so i was helping some friends move and it came time for a break, i took my kids to mcdonalds.
we're sitting there and there's a family across from us, man, wife, 2 kids under 4. in the next booth is this older guy, maybe late 60's.. i'm not really paying attention, but then this older guy says something to the family about everybody being "me-first" these days.
so that caught my ear.

willful nonsupport.
These conditions are mainly geared toward a JW Sister™ separating from a non-JW husband.
The JW husband is supposed to be presiding over his family appropriately, providing for them, etc. If the wife's spending is out of control or their financial situation deteriorates, he is expected to take charge and find a way to provide for his family within his means. It could require moving to a less expensive home, selling a vehicle, taking the bus to work, spending less on material things, working overtime (provided it doesn't interfere with Meetings™ and Field Service™), etc.
If his JW wife is unwilling to cooperate, the Elders™ will consider him unfit for Privileges™ because he is not "presiding over his family in a fine manner". If he were to separate from her it would reflect poorly on him, not on her.
I think a staunch JW husband would rather move his entire family in with his mother-in-law before admitting that he cannot get his JW wife to be In Subjection™ to his Headship™.
years ago you read my horror stories about being raped by a jw.
i was nine years old when this took place, now the man has been getting all his works in order.
what do i do to stop the seventy-year old pedophile from getting his position back?
Bubblegum:
"How do I know he is going to be made one?" Two elders have been trying to talk to me over the last two weeks, they want to know if I am still hurt emotionally. Would it trouble me if I saw him giving a talk at the Assembly or reappointed? What do I tell them? One had the nerve to come to the house my house and others are ringing my phone off the hook. What do you think they are going to ask me next?
Tell these idiots that if he is appointed, you will go to the media and expose the lot of them. Tell them that if he is appointed, THEY will be bringing reproach on Jehovah, not you - you're trying to protect vulnerable children from being abused the way you were. Tell them that more kids will be at risk of being harmed by him. Tell him that you will tell every parent in the circuit and district what he did to you.
It isn't "slander" if it's true. He confessed. They know what he did. Damn right you're still hurt by what he did. How can they DARE to call themselves Jehovah's Witnesses, when they knowingly appoint CHILD RAPISTS to positions of authority. How are they any better than the Catholic Church who just moves priests around from one parish to another when they've been caught molesting kids?

In my revenge fantasies, I would do a Lisbet Salander move on him:
Tattoo 'I rape children' on the f*cker's forehead. Then tell him to Wait On Jehovah™ to get it removed.
did jw's predict the world would end in 1984?.
the september 21, 1984 issue of chrisitanity today on pages 66-67, ran an article entitled: "do jehovah's witnesses still hold to their 1984 doomsday deadline?".
that's as far as my search has gotten me and it isn't on chrisitanity today's web-site.. can anyone find this article for me?.
Hi tijkmo,
Long time no see! How are you?
i think something that would totally "close the gap" with jw's and not accepting blood but accepting it through the fractions of fractions would be to harvest white blood cells from mother's milk (there are already mother's milk banks) and then transfuse them to witness patients who need wbc's.
since technically they are not from blood, i think it would be an interesting loophole.
anyone here know about a disease that can only be cured/treated with wbc's?
Pasteurized human donor milk is flipping expensive. We use it extremely judiciously in our NICU. There are protocols up the wazoo for its use, consent forms for parents to sign, and we have to treat it as though it is a blood product.
It's difficult to recruit donors, and part of the problem is that milk banks are not widely available in North America. I think there are maybe 3 or 4 that supply all of Canada's NICUs.
I don't know if a cross-over agency (milk bank + blood donation service) is a feasible option, given that its only purpose would be to supply leukocyte infusions and fractions to JWs.
Then there's the problem of extracting viable leukocytes from breast milk - would it require pasteurization or some other form of processing? How far do you want to go with obtaining fractions?
FWIW, the richest supply of leukocytes in human milk occurs mostly in the first few days of milk production, with colostrum. Most women would want their own babies to have that limited supply, not some random, thankless JW who can't even be arsed to donate their own breastmilk or blood to help other people.
i got a really lengthy pm from a poster i don't know, scolding me for saying there is a difference between rape and religious abuse.
i recently had a conversation with someone who says eating oysters is vegetarian.
when i pointed out it isn't, the person said we all have different definitions of vegetarian.
The WTS likes to bandy about the word "rape" when you have a child of JWs being administered a court-ordered blood transfusion.
People can call it sensationalizing or whatever, but frankly, I believe we should not be stooping to the WTS's level. Let them play games with semantics - we are better than that. Let's just say what we mean, and mean what we say.

I attended a Gilead School graduation at the Stanley Theater when I was 16 or 17. Ulysses Glass was one of the speakers that day.
the washtowel and asleep magazines made the list.
an over-zealous dub just posted this link to my facebook wall.
http://www.clicktop10.com/2013/07/top-10-most-popular-magazines-of-2013/.
I'm all in favor of calling the WT and Awake! one of the most popular magazines. It's very popular with cat owners and bird owners, for collecting their pets' crap in litter boxes and bird cages all over the globe.
dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from god, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2 this is how you can recognize the spirit of god: every spirit that acknowledges that jesus christ has come in the flesh is from god, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge jesus is not from god.
this is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.. niv.
The WTS does not recognize individual JWs' ability to "test" what the WTS publishes.
The WTS tells JWs to trust in the governing body to do all the thinking for them.
People who try to put the WTS's words to the test, end up being branded as Apostates™.
