That's rich, coming from 8 million people who refuse to participate in the Lord's Evening Meal, i.e., rejecting the blood and body of Jesus.

Perhaps he needs to be reminded of the old adage: Insanity is when you keep doing the same thing, but expect different results.
Does he get the kind of "results" that the WTS tells him he'll have? Magazine Placements™, Bible Studies™, new ones being recruited? The WTS wants him to believe that the reason he doesn't succeed is because of a flaw in himself, when in reality, the flaw is in the methodology. How many successful businesses utilize door-to-door sales anymore? The fact of the matter is that the Field Ministry™ is, by and large, an ineffective recruitment tool, just as ineffective as cold calling done by telemarketers.
If he wants to think of Field Ministry™ as a way to spend time with fellow believers and reinforce each other's delusion while cooped up in a crowded vehicle between territories or over coffee break, that's one thing. But if he's looking for a way to become more successful at it (as defined by the WTS) he's likely to become less motivated and less satisfied.
Perhaps he needs to redefine what "success" means when it comes to the Door-to-Door™ work, and have it be his definition, not theirs.

I had a creepy experience one time while assigned to work in the nursery at the hospital. The room was packed with about 15 cots, each with a baby in it. One of my colleagues had asked me to bathe one of the babies in her care while he was in the nursery - his mother had gone for a shower and she didn't want to leave the baby unattended.
So I set to looking around for this baby, checking the names on each bassinette, when suddenly I hear a male voice call my name. I turned around toward the sound of the voice, but nobody was there. However, right in front of me was a baby who was silently choking and gray in colour - it was the baby I was looking for actually - and I grabbed him and brought him to the resus area and started resuscitation efforts and then pulled the emergency alarm to bring more help.
That was probably 13 or 14 years ago. I was still a sort-of believer at that point in time and it gave me the heebie-jeebies, as did a lot of other weird stuff that happens at the hospital. Now, I'd probably ascribe it to the fact that I had been working a string of nights and still had young children who needed my attention after school, so I was quite sleep deprived.

I never really found Seth MacFarlane's humour all that funny.
But in supporting the cause of offending JWs, I may have to start watching Family Guy after all.

I saw that the other day and *loved* it.
The idea that everyone is in some sort of closet at certain times of their lives was an a-ha! moment for me.

She sounds like she can be a bit of an emotional vampire. That's such a draining relationship to have to cope with - I try to disengage from people like that ASAP.
You have the right to your own life, your own private time with your husband. She doesn't own you and you don't answer to her or have to provide a reason why you were unavailable for her during your private time.
Perhaps it's a lack of maturity on her part that makes her feel that she has you at her beck and call, but you don't have to enable that behaviour either - it's not going to serve her well as she gets older and realizes that the world doesn't work that way.

Grace,
You're old enough to have earned the right to speak your mind without having to worry about what other people think.

What is "theocratic warfare?" Is this official doctrine of JW's?
by Faithful Witness ini have never heard of "theocratic warfare," until i started reading blogs from, and interacting with ex-jw's online.
are there any articles that mention this practice?
i never once heard of it while we were studying.. now i'm wondering how many times it's been used on me.

Theocratic Warfare™ or Theocratic War Strategy™ is centred around the belief that "While malicious lying is definitely condemned in the Bible, this does not mean that a person is under obligation to divulge truthful information to people who are not entitled to it." - Insight on the Scriptures, Volume 2, pages 244, 245.
The citing offers examples, such as Jesus giving evasive answers when he was accused of being "King of the Jews", and of Rahab misdirecting the people looking for the Israelite spies she was concealing. The rationale is that such behaviours kept God's people from coming to harm at the hands of opposers.
if you're wondering if the tactic has ever been used on you, the answer is, without any shadow of a doubt, YES.
During your Studies™ with them, did you ever ask them a question, only to be put off with the promise that it will be covered in a later lesson? Why do you suppose you had to wait to be taught that JWs have to give up celebrations like Chistmas or birthdays? Or that you'd be expected to refuse a blood transfusion? Why do you think the Bible Teach book says you are not getting baptized into an organization, but when you present yourself for baptism you must agree that your "baptism identifies you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with his spirit-directed organization"?
