  Today's Daily Text - Being Uneducated And Ordinary... WTF!!!

  Memorial 2016

  the memorial is on march 23 this year.

  but all the official jewish calendars has nissan 14 as april 22!

  april 22 is the start of passover!

  WT's way of determining the date for The Memorial™ has always been

  the first full moon following the spring equinox

  The spring equinox is usually around March 20-21, and from there they decide when the full moon will be visible over Jerusalem. Sometimes it coincides with Passover or Easter, but often times it doesn't.

  Nisan 14 in 2016 falls on April 22. I wonder how the average JW would reconcile that discrepancy?

  Does the WT attract needy dysfunctional type of people?

  in your personal experience, do you think that the wt attracts needy types of people?

  over the years, my experience is that they do attract very needy, insecure, dysfunctional, types.

  i had an acquaintance that i just basically cut off.

  Needy people are attracted to those who are confident, and JWs behave in a confident way. The WTS is very confident in their message (even though it's wrong!) and that gives a needy personality an anchor to cling to. Neediness is a form of social anxiety, and the (false) confidence of the WTS and JWs helps an anxious individual to have some manner of tending to their anxiety, helping them focus on something other than themselves and their fears. The WTS offers them hope that if they just do such-and-such, they'll learn to be like so-and-so, who is confident and able to get up on the Platform™ and speak to an audience, or go Door-to-Door™ and speak with authority to complete strangers.

  They could learn the same skill set by going to Toastmasters, but Toastmasters doesn't recruit Door-to-Door™.

  If that flunkey knew the Scriptures™ as well as he claims he does, he wouldn't have needed the garlic to represent inherited sin. Just regular bread with yeast in it would have sufficed.

  What an utter crock of shit though. Seriously. No different from any other belief system that tells you that you're worthless without their help. And of course, they expect you to donate as much as you can in order to have the Privilege™ of being told, over and over and over again, that you are nothing but useless garbage. Put some money in that Contribution Box™, go out in Service™ and try to convince other people they're worthless trash, and bring them to the Meeting™ next week, so we can get some money out of them too.

  The "sacramental confession" loophole was found to not apply to JWs. In a Catholic confession scenario, there is the confessor - the priest, and the penitent - the "sinner". It's considered exempt due to the fact that there are no other witnesses to the confession, nobody can corroborate the confession if the accused denies having confessed. In the case of JWs, confessions occur in the presence of at least two senior members of the Congregation™, usually Elders™, and then again in the presence of three Elders™ in the form of a Judicial Committee™. By the very nature of how a confession of wrongdoing happens with the JWs, where more than one witness to the confession is required, the "sacrament" of confession or ecclesiastical privilege cannot be utilized to exempt Elders™ from their duty to report child sexual abuse to the authorities.

  as a young witness married couple in the 1990's we knew "this generation" of 1914 did not have long to go!

  oh how cute a young pioneer couple we were.

  we wont have kids till "afew more years pass" and we are in the new system.

  Oh, and if you *do* decide on using IVF and are still JWs in good standing, please keep in mind that it is not necessary to tell anyone at the KH that you are using IVF, considering that it's a Disfellowshipping Offence™ <eyeroll>.

  It's nobody else's business how you and your Mrs. became pregnant.

  PS: The most elderly couple/first time parents I looked after on the mother-baby unit - she was late 50s, he was in his 70s.

  The WTS has been "crying wolf" for such a long time. Its impact on young couples who made the decision to remain childless in This Old System Of Things™ goes back many, many decades.

  Now that the WTS is giving elderly couples the toss at Bethel, who, indeed, is going to take care of them now?

  If IVF is beyond your means, and puts your wife's health at risk unnecessarily, would you consider adoption?

  Types attracted to the sect known as jehovahs witnesses.

  l have observed the types of people attracted to the sect are many times unbalanced,unstable,emotionally insecure types.the jdubs seem to home in like vulchers circling the prey ,preying on the vulnerables.they tried it on me when my father who was an elder died.promising that if you become a dub you will one day see him again.l said how can you promise that when you keep making false misleading predictions.l was wondering if others have observed this phenomenon.

  JWs are instructed in recruitment methods that specifically target vulnerable populations, such as adolescents learning to be independent, college and university students who may be away from home for the first time, people in troubled relationships, separated, divorced, the impoverished, serious health problems, people who have just had a major move and have no local support system, families with new babies.

  It's no surprise that the majority of recruits come from these types of backgrounds, because those are the ones being targeted.
