Angus Stewart calls the JW religion a captive organization
by oppostate inif you watched the questioning of terrence o'brien by angus stewart at day 7 part 3 on youtube--thanks so much for uploading these videos--you'll see that mr. stewart puts quite clearly to brother o'brien that the jw 0rganization is a "captive organization".. he makes this reference regarding the practice of da/df'ing and shunning, which he mentions is the one thing that makes ex-jw's the most angry.
because insisting on shunning ex-members causes psychological trauma and separates people from their family, friends and their community of support; therefore, they are held captive by the organization if they don't want to lose those most dear to them.. i believe angus stewart is to be commended for seeing clearly what the wt/jw religion is truly like in practice, and it isn't pretty.. the term "captive organization" is usually used in finance to mean a business front, a legal veil that shields the parent company from liability and having to make big insurance payouts.
for example if the australian branch gets sued and loses, the "wt australia" corporation will pay the amount awarded by the judge to the complainant.

I'm guessing the Branch Coordinator™, Terrence O'Brien, is Counting Time™ for his Field Service Report™ while on the witness stand. That thought alone is making me throw up in my mouth a little.

AUSTRALIA - All large JW Regional Conventions cancelled for 2015
by jwleaks innow we know why the governing body of jehovah's witnesses cancelled all the major regional conventions of jehovah's witnesses for 2015 and are only holding smaller conventions at the jw assembly halls.
"imitate jesus" convention series australia schedule .
interestingly the first round of regional conventions are due this weekend in the jw assembly halls in sydney (new south wales), melbourne (victoria), and brisbane (queensland).

If they reserved those Regional Convention sites in advance, I'm pretty sure they'd lose their deposit on the venues.
I'm guessing they don't want reporters filming, or asking delegates what their thoughts are regarding the Royal Commission...
Silence is worth a lot to these criminals.

Grandchildren pay for the sins of their parents.
by Bonsai inmy wife's mother just related to us an interview she heard during the recent three day convention that she just had to share with us.
a brother and his wife have, for over 20 years, shunned their daughter because she ran off and eloped with a worldly guy.
while openly sobbing, he related how difficult it has been to shun his daughter and avoid unnecessary contact with her and her family.

The loss hurts, to be sure. Children don't understand why they have grandparents who don't want to have a close relationship with them or their parents.
On the other hand, be grateful that these children will not be indoctrinated behind their parents' backs by JW grandparents who are undermining parental authority, and eventually hope to turn the grandchildren into loyal JWs who will shun their Disloyal™ DF'd or DA'd parents.
Mr Scully and I decided together that any time our children spent with JW relatives would have to take place under our supervision to ensure nothing of this sort took place. Eventually, as the children became more independent, they wanted little to do with JW relatives. We taught them what JWs believe, and they came to their own conclusion that the belief system was not for them; nor did they want anyone preaching at them or praying for them or disrespecting their father by shunning him. (He was DA'd by answering a trick question when a couple of Elders™ made a Shepherding Call™ many years ago.)

An elder, Chief MD in Honolulu clinic goes door to door. Testimony given at JW convention

it sounds to me like he was a jw before he became a physician.
"kalauawa, who became a jw 31 years ago, said he had to overcome a major conflict between his religious and professional beliefs, because jws are opposed to blood transfusions.

@ Asian
What about JW nurses who are told to administer a blood transfusion per doctor's orders? Can they? Would his/her conscience prevent him/her from doing so? Could they be fired for not following doctor's orders? Could they lose their nurse's license? Any nurses/ex-JW nurses here?
When I was growing up there was a nurse in my congregation. She had no issue with administering a blood transfusion, because it was the doctor ordering the transfusion.
Then again, I've come across JW nursing students more recently who refuse to administer blood transfusions or RhoGam / WinRho to Rh negative women who have just delivered babies. The fact that some will and some won't is pretty confusing for educators. The fact that the WTS has created a gray area that allows JW health care providers to impose their own beliefs on patients who accept these treatments is going to come back to haunt them eventually, imo.
Frankly, colleagues of a nurse who routinely palms off their work to other nurses is not going to have a lot of friends in the profession. Most don't have enough time in the day to get all their own work done, let alone deal with someone else's blood transfusion (which can take between 2-4 hours per unit ordered to administer, with assessments at regular intervals during the infusion, plus calling the Transfusion Medicine department to order up your units one at a time when they are needed). Also, most physicians order a minimum of 2 units of blood, because a single unit is only going to increase the patient's hemoglobin level by approximately 10 mg/L and most hospital policies indicate transfusion when the patient's hemoglobin level is less than 80 mg/L. (Normal hemoglobin levels are higher than 100 mg/L; therefore 2 units are required to bring a person's hemoglobin levels up to a barely normal level if their starting level is 79 mg/L.)

When a physician orders a transfusion, it's usually nurses that administer it. Nurses insert the IV catheter, set up the transfusion per protocol, and monitor the patient's condition.
So what this MD does is "consult" with another physician and get them to write the order. It's a win-win situation for both physicians, because a consultation and a request for a consultation both involve a fee, either charged to the patient, the patient's insurance or the public purse in the case of individuals who are enrolled in government run subsidized medicine.
I have to wonder if he's got one or a couple of colleagues involved in this little extra side-business. He still would have to identify that the patient has a need for a transfusion, depending on the hospital's criteria for recommending a transfusion to a patient.

To DA or not to DA, that is the question?
by dubstepped inlet me preface this by saying that i don't expect anyone here to make my decision for me.
i do however note that like the bible says, in the multitude of counselors there is wisdom, and this is a huge decision, so i wanted to put it out there for discussion.
i really appreciate your words of wisdom, as this affects not just me but my wife also, as we find ourselves in the same boat.

The WTS's rule to write a Letter of Disassociation™ is like an unloaded gun being held on you, holding you and your wife hostage.
Writing such a letter is like giving them the ammunition to use that gun against you and your wife.
If you don't give them the ammunition they want and expect from you, they can't use it against you.
It's their rule. You don't have to play by their rules anymore. Live your life. Be happy. Be successful. Choose a new 'family'.

Vertigo, WTH.

James Mixon: Before you do scopolamine, please see your doc first to rule out other problems. You can ask the doc if a scopolamine patch is appropriate in your case or if they would recommend something else.

Get this checked. I've suffered with it occasionally, almost always an inner ear thing, but you don't want to mess around with it, especially if you aren't able to function normally (walking, driving, going up and down stairs, etc.)
What worked for me was a scopolamine patch (placed behind one ear), available over the counter, recommended by my doctor after she examined me.

Beware the will use legal means against lies
by Listener ini am posting a transcript a part of the talk given by anthony morris iii from jw broadcasting july 2015. i've posted much much more than necessary but i wanted to keep it in context.
the governing body has approved of my speaking of something that jesus himself spoke of on a number of occasions.
and i might say at the outset that this is by no means a pessimistic speech meant to discourage anyone.

While we may take advantage of legal means to set the record straight in harmony with Jesus words we do not engage in smear campaigns with rebuttals either verbally or in print.
So if that bit "in print" in the Watchtower a while back referring to "mentally-diseased apostates" doesn't qualify as a "smear campaign", I don't know what does.
