Why now? What because Americans are feeling it? You should get nailed for that kind of self-centered thinking. The state of the world today isn't much different than it has been in the past. Ebola at it's worse happened when there was more political conflicts happening. HIV/AIDS struck when the Cold War was still going on. If you compare recent events to other similar events in the past... you will find that the world right now isn't worse than it has ever been before. The big difference? US citizens are feeling it. I'm pretty sure God/Christ isn't American. I'm pretty sure God/Christ claims all nations on earth.. not just the most privileged nation on the planet. So until things are worse than they have ever been... everywhere, then NO it isn't a good time for that kind of ignorant remark.

The appearance of this song on a commercial album immediately raised alarm bells among the religion’s followers who, through their teachings and knowledge of their faith, knew this track shouldn’t have been used in this manner.
That's a whole lot of people listening to a Christmas album.
I know it is part of their doctrine and belief system to be 'separate' and all that, but this issue just underscores how stupid that belief system is.
Most religions have a separatist belief system. "There is only one God' often precludes being inclusive of other religions. But the copyright infringement is not the same issue as the 'being included' issue. The watchtower has filed separate charges in this case; 1. copyright infringement 2. having their song included among other religions 3. having their song used as a Christmas song. GEMA probably did not have the correct permission. They have a lot of lawsuits against them for copyright infringement in the music industry. I knew that before I read the article as their cases come up in news a lot. They rarely win. I think it is interesting that the JWs might get the profits from their song being sold as a Christmas song. Shouldn't that go against their beliefs?

What has SARS Cov 2 been doing since 2004?
by BoogerMan inin 2002-2004 - during its first time around - that "pandemic" killed 774 people worldwide and then "evaporated.".
strange how viruses "work.

SARS, MERS, and Covid19 are all coronaviruses. Covid19 is a strain that directly came from SARS. SARS did not evaporate. It mutated and evolved which is exactly what viruses do. The link below is a good article that explains the history of coronavirus and talks about how viruses evolve.
WebMD article on the history of coronavirus
This WHO web page has a list of years we had disease outbreaks. They go back to 1965 and include other outbreak diseases like Ebola as well as the Coronaviruses. Just select a year and you can see what the diseases were doing.
WHO timeline of disease outbreaks by year
I know if feels good to rail against the system, but it really isn't hard to look this stuff up. I got these two articles within 3 google searches. If you want to understand diseases and how they work, try looking up information easily provided by WHO, CDC, and WebMD... just to start. Medical and university provided information is likely to be reliable.

Is Anyone Happy That Police Forces Are Being Abolished or scut??
by minimus inin minneapolis, the city council has voted to abolish the police.. many cities want to either disband or defund the police.
black lives matter and other groups have influenced citizens and neighborhoods to get rid of police and their authority.
is anyone really supportive of removing the police or cutting out law enforcement through the budget?

Disbanding and defunding doesn't mean 'no police'. Sometimes the ignorance on this site is impressive. Not in a good way. If you can do research to debunk the JWs, surely you can do research to learn what these things mean in reality versus just in the literal sense of the words.

I was against defunding and disbanding police until I listened to some police officers that I respect talk about what that actually means. I thought all police would be against it but that isn't true. Now, I'm working on learning more and I'm not completely against the idea.

How far is this idiocy going to go?
by BoogerMan inhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-53201667.
the simpsons team - because of criticism over white actor hank azaria's voiceover of indian-american character apu - is terminating the caricature.
people claimed that it "reinforced racial stereotypes.".
-

The article says they faced this action a while ago... moreso because they have a white actor doing the voice instead of an Indian actor. There is a good chance they will keep the character and just give it a new voice.
It does promote a racial stereotype. I thought that is part of what social satyr does.
If you feel threatened because an actor and a production company decided to cater to their public.... if you think that will lead to loss of liberties and freedom of speech, you might be missing the point that it is a reactionary to the public who spoke out. That is exactly how freedom of speech works.

Do You Believe Polls Saying Trump Will Lose To Biden?
by minimus ina new fox poll says biden is up by 12 percentage points.
of course, most other polls say trump will be trounced this time around.. do you think the polls might be right this time?

Are they polling the electoral college? If not, then it really doesn't matter. Last time, Clinton won the popular vote but Trump won the electoral college.
What I can say is, I'm not voting for any men accused of sexually assaulting women... and that means I'm not voting for either Biden nor Trump. I know a lot of people who are saying they won't be voting for Biden and yet they don't want Trump in office either. I have no idea who they will be voting for. I'll be writing a name in. -

Would Watchtower Ever Risk Setting Another Date
by Number 6 inthere was a 50 year gap between the failed dates of 1925 and 1975.. memories fade, people die, and who cares what was said 50 years ago.. most jw's now in the religion werent there when 1975 was a thing.
even my mother who was baptized in 1974 who i do remember speaking about it back in the day, can barely remember what the fuss was about.
for active jw's who are doing all there studying online now, its practically impossible to find any wt contemporary reference to 1975.. i read recently (sorry i cant source it right now) that at the time, even watchtower may have taken the view that even if they knew 1975 was wrong, the short term gains would far outstrip those who left leading to an overall net gain so it was a risk worth taking.

Are you joking? My sister was born that year, I was born in 1976. My mother's entire family is still in. You think her generation wasn't worried about her having children during the end times? You think that didn't have an impact on them then, and then impact their understandings that they taught their children? Please.
The generational teaching are ridiculous but they aren't completely wrong either. Every generation impacts the next generation. And if you think that no one pays any attention because it was 45 years ago..you're wrong. My generation are the parents now and I can guarantee you that they remember their parents being either freaked out or confused. I have peers that are still in who were very much impacted by that belief. Give it more time before no one remembers.

Noah’s flood
by dothemath ina few years ago at one of the conventions, there was a talk on gods remarkable creation.
one of the slides showed a giant sequoia tree, approximately 5000 years old!.
later another talk was about noah etc.

Apparently the giant sequoia is the most hardy life on the planet and this article mentions Noah's flood....
Just because the JWs get their information wrong... it doesn't mean they got the information wrong that you think they did. This article neither proves nor disproves their premise... but it does seem to imply that a giant sequoia could potentially, under the right circumstances live through a great flood. Look down to the bottom where the summary is. It would have to have been young, but as you stated it would have been... young for a giant sequoia.
