People in dark ages were subject to inquisition when religion controlled them fully. Atleast we are better off. Congratulate yourself for taking the courage to leave jw and start over again. There are so many who are still in there more sadder and depressed.

Where it all went wrong for the WT - JF Rutherford
by LoveUniHateExams ini was thinking a bit about this the other day.
ct russell, from what i remember about him, kinda seemed like a genuine, nice(ish) guy, although he had a few eccentric but harmless ideas.. during the russell era jws (actually bible students) could still celebrate christmas, worship in other churches if there was no kingdom hall available, and accept blood transfusions.. then after russell died, along came rutherford - a major league a-hole, for sure.. rutherford had plenty of eccentric ideas but at least some of them weren't/aren't harmless.
some have been long forgotten about - jesus depicted without a beard, the plan to rename the names of the week because names such as thursday (thor's day) is pagan, the articles about the 'dangers' of aluminium, etc.. one key contribution of rutherford which does a lot of harm is no blood transfusions, even in life-threatening situations.. another is shunning, something which never occurred under russell, or at least was much milder.. rutherford has a lot to answer for, i reckon ....

Hitler too was a good orator. Had huge support. It does not mean he was good.

Is the FACT that no God/god ever communicates with humans evidence that no God/god exists?
by Disillusioned JW inis the fact that no god/god ever communicates with us evidence that no god/god exists?
i think it is very strong evidence that no personal god/god exits, especially a benevolent god who wants humans to know him him/her/it, to obey him/her/it, and/or to love him/her/it.
since no god/god communicates to us (including those who sincerely want communication with the/a god/god), wouldn't it be sensible for those who pray to what they believe is the/a god/god to cease all efforts to communicate to a god/god?

Who told God does not communicate now? Governing Body keeps telling they know God's plans like destroying everyone at Armageddon etc etc. How will they not know if God did not communicate to them?

End is delayed. Not enough people are baptized. So do more. And give more.

The ones who are going to rule in heaven are still not sure if it's before or after. That means they will condemn and again reverse condemnation till they reach consensus. -

Has Anyone Had any JWs PHYSICALLY Put Their Hands On You (And Not Within A Family Unit Situation)?
by HiddlesWife ini was asking the above question because a pomo friend of my family told me about an incident involving her and a couple of dubs who were physically abusive in the past.. a single sister who was running around from one cong to another cong looking for a husband.
she was visiting my friend's cong for less than a year.
there was a commuter bethellite bro who was very friendly towards my friend (which i'll call her "q") and her fam members.

I too was pursued by a brother who was very much older to me. When I and my family told NO, he bought a false case against my father. When the case failed, he took help of many others in the congregation to complain. It went so bad that one of them pushed my dad right at the meeting. We moved to another congregation because I could not take risk but the trouble did not stop. They poisoned the witnesses even there. Now I am out and enjoying the freedom. Family is slowly moving out too except for my mother.

Mark of a true Christian
by Lost in the fog inas most of us on this site have experienced firsthand when we were in, there is a lack of love in the majority of congregations.. i was talking to a pimi person recently who said that love was the identifying mark of true christians (in their opinion the jw organisation) and that is why the watchtowers they study continually tell them to show love to one another.. i said that if their love was genuinely practiced they wouldn't need to be told to show it because it would arise from their heart and soul and be evident in believers which is what jesus was actually saying.
recognising the needs of the community with rising food prices some local churches where i live were moved to start food banks and offer free meals to families on the breadline.
to me that is spontaneously shown and is genuine love in action.. needless to say the pimi disagreed with me.

How can they start doing charity when GB members live a life of luxury? They need money for their own benefit.
