okay, i haven't been to a meeting in over 17 years and i don't live anywhere near the place i grew up.
i have had minimal contact with my jw family, essentially just occasional phone conversations.
i think they could easily guess that i'm inactive but they pretend not to know and they've never shunned me.
If you have been inactive as in not attending meetings for 17 years, I would think your mother and other family members would know that by now.
Inactive doesn't mean DFed, so if you were not officially DFed, you shouldn't have a problem.
Verbally speak up against the organization /faith and you should expect a problem.
i was recently present at a witness funeral (by zoom) and the brother did do a nice talk about this sister who passed away.
her and her husband had pioneered for many years, but she succumbed to cancer.. in his closing remarks, of course he talked about the resurrection, and remarked how the husband (still alive) would soon be back together with his wife.. certainly fine thoughts, but imagine if this guy ended up getting remarried?

Well what should one expect since the resurrection is fictional mythology ?
ie. my JWS mother died a few years ago and my JWS father remarried to another JWS woman.
Whats going to happen when they are all resurrected or make it through Armageddon as the case may be ?

If the Watchtower needs to steer the best and brightest truth-seekers away from listening to those who do not agree with them via emotional manipulation (appeal to group loyalty, guilt tripping, the threat of the punishments of ostracism and eventual destruction), then what does that say about how confident Watchtower is in the evidentiary foundation of its doctrine?

The WTS/JWS have proclaimed they were god's solemnly chosen organization going back to 1919 and the decades that followed.
One has to keep in mind that the GB men see worldly government organizations below themselves in their perceived power arrangement, so they can be deceptive toward asked information from these organizations.
