What happened in the 80's?
by Virgochik invarious posters have mentioned how get-togethers and fun times socializing were frowned upon and discouraged somewhere around the early 80's.
everything changed, as far as the picnics, the dinner parties, etc.
i vaguely recall some connection being made to parties and increased "immorality.

Our skating parties got shot to hell in the late 1980s after some bitter bitch got mad and complained that dressing up like clowns was demonic (several dressed up as clowns in the FULL outfits to spice the party up. (I couldn't even tell it was them.. it was awesome). That was the last skating party for good. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so pathetically sad.

rebel8: I found the article hard to believe. I was saying "wow" because IF TRUE (like the title says) would be unbelievable. I mean come on $708 billion?? I have no doubt that it's into the billions but $708 is outragious. It's hard to mentally grasp that Bill Gates could have done better by working at the Watchtower instead of Microsoft. ;)

What Things Irritated You While A Witness?
by minimus ini used to hate it when i'd listen to brother blow give his long winded comment about how we're all supposed to do this or that----and he was barely considered a witness......we had a few elders, and especially the po who would go overtime just because they could.
the po's bookstudy always went overtime.
45 minutes into the meeting he was still on paragraph 3. and he would read every scripture including the ones quoted!!!

i want to thank you guys for your honesty on this site and your humor...my husband and i formally dissassociated ourselves from the darling watchtower a few months ago and your site helped us keep our chins up!

it was wall to wall filth, rat infested and smelled awful.
i was a child, but mom and dad brought me along anyway.

I went on a study with a woman and there were roaches EVERYWHERE. Well, the next day at the Thursday night meeting a roach came running out from the lapel on my sportcoat abnd I caught it out of the corner of my eye and smashed it on my sportcoat. Good thing I hated that sportcoat but I never went back to that study's house....
