Anyone have a May 1974 KM Scan? Need Help.

to anyone out there who is a listening ear and may be of assistance-.

as some of you know, my brother and his wife are shunning me because i da myself from the jw.

subsequently i do not have a relationship with my 1 yr old nephew, and i haven't had a relationship with my brother for some time now.. surprisingly, he has agreed to sit and discuss some of the jw teachings with me, and the topic came up of the 1975 fiasco.. now i wasnt even born yet, and my brother was 2 years old.

Disturbing material in May 15, 2002 Watchtower

in the questions from readers section, the question was: "would it be advisable for a true christian to attend a funeral or a wedding in a church?".

to analyze this wonderful piece, i'm going to use their words, and translate them into real english.. "being in a group where everyone else is engaging in a false religious act, a christian may find it difficult to resist the pressure to join in.

how unwise to expose oneself to such pressure!".

A friend of ours just died last monday, the island is 90% catholic but have a extra long roesry for the dead here, it goes for 9 days. Being I am not christian I have no real desire to go to them but out of respect for her and her family, I have gone to one of the roseries and will attend one more at the end lus the funeral. in reading what was posted on the article:

"Being in a group where everyone else is engaging in a false religious act, a Christian may find it difficult to resist the pressure to join in. How unwise to expose oneself to such pressure!"

I find this perposterious, I went and sat there and never once felt any pressure to participate in the prayer or rosery, it never even came to mind.

What I really think is in question here is the WTS is afraid that the Jdub will go to a church and perhaps hear something that makes more sence and see the freedom of religon that many other christain denominations teach and perhaps catch hold of it. So it is more they don't want the R/F to see the truth of Christendom.

Blood Issue: Misleading Insertion - Awake 22 Feb

for anyone interested, dr ross mcl wilson, chairman, nsw council on quality in health care (australia) has been contacted regarding the *misleading insertion* in the february 22nd, 2002, of awake where a sydney morning herald article about a blood audit in 10 new south wales hospitals was *selectively edited* by the organisation, thereby allowing misinterpretation by readers in order to 'bolster' the blood ban.. .

dr wilson responded (in part) as follows:.

"the quotation is clearly unhelpful and wrong - the combination of the media and then a special interest group puts the truth at risk.

I do remember that thread, don't know where it is however. I remember seeing how the way they state it, it sounds like 18,000 people a year die as a result of blood transfusions yet that is not what is said. I love the WTS selective editing they a re actually pretty good at it.

WOOOOO!!!!! $6 a pack?! Wow here cigs run anywhere from off brands at about $1 regular price a pack to name brands at $3.30 regualar price. on sale a lot of times at about $1.15 a pack. If you buy a carton of off brands they can run you as cheap as $0.25 a pack.

And yes I do smoke

i have never been a jw in my life but i disagree with their doctrine.

are all the "worldies" considered "apostates" or just the ex jws?

The last time the JW's came to my door the discussion came up about 1914, I found it interesting that they had a hard time telling me how that date was arrived at, but said they would come back to discuss it further. I tried to keep it on one subject and not run between subjects, if they could not answer the Q, I asked them to return with the answer. I informed them that their date of 1914 was based on the idea that Jerusalem fell in 607 bce, yet by all historical accounts it didn't fall or become desolate until 586/7, even Nebacanezzer(I can never spell that name right) was not the king of Babylon until 603/4 so how could he have distroyed the city as king yet he was not the king. They knew that the 1914 was based on 607 with a lot of math and scripture flip flopping to get that date, but they couldn't remember exactly how it was done. SO, I am waiting for them to come back, then I hit them with the original way they came to the date (i.e. the pyrimids and such) then go from there on how it was changed when the rapture and earths distruction didn't happen in 1914.

So I like you, am waiting to see if they show up, becasue he said he had proof that it was destroyed in 607, and I told him I would love to see it.

For me it's all fun in gettng them flustered and making them think.

Who shuns you?

after reading a number of posts it sounds like most of you have been shunned even by your immediate family members (parents, brothers, sisters)after you were df'd.. i am shunned by my sister-in-law - but she's it out of the entire family.

my uncle, brothers, mother, and father (an elder before he passed away) all continued to associate with me - we even go out to dinners together.. so here's my question - is my family the minority?

i thought that only non-family members had to shun you but family was ok as long as they don't discuss spiritual issues.

The only one person I know of that shuns me is my ex-wife, but who is she. My parents never shunned me, I have one sister that is a dub and she does not shunn me, But our family has never really been very close anyway, so we really don't have a lot of contact anyway. Last year when we were back in the states for a visit, we had a BBQ family get together and everyone showed up even my Jdub sister.

I didn't talk to my parents for over a year, when they allowed my 16 yo daughter to run to mexico (even let her take teir car) and get married, just to ease their JW concience. So I suppose I shunned them more then they did me LOL. My mom has expressed to me that she wished I would come back, I just tell her that I cannot, and it is dropped. Maybe after she passes away, I will come out of the Broom closet and let the rest of my family know I pracitce a form of witchcraft, but who knows LOL.

newsflash!! WTBS CD-ROM 2001

yesterday an announcement was made at my local con.

and i thought i`d share it.. the watchtower announced that work on the new cd-rom is in progress and we can expect it at the end of this year.. unlike the other versions you can`t get away with win 3.1, you`ll now need at least win95.. available languages: the one already available + tjech and japanese.. some of it`s features:.

- one window (instead of several).

who knows, generally accurate in parts.
