An organization that has shamelessly practiced shunning their own members now being shunned by their own goverment?
There may be a proverb in there somewhere.
read the news here.
the jehovah's witnesses lost their appeal to the supreme court of russia.
bethel to be liquidated.. i bet the gb saw this coming ... here comes the persecution complex paranoia.

a few years ago they had a similar talk and my mother stopped talking to my sister.
after a few weeks the sister called and when mom told her my sister said but i love your my mother.
something to that effect.
It will cause some to wake up but sadly there will be more victims as many jdubs take the convention stuff very seriously.
It sounds like the fear level is really being raised this time round with all the crazy GT videos. In years to come this convention will prove to be another embarrassment to the org because those videos will stay on the internet forever, however in the meantime more good people will suffer.
i whiled away the time today in the wt researching the above question on line.
it seems to me that there is more evidence to say that the account simply depicts the poor nameless child/woman as being toast.
the idea of her going into "tabernacle service" is completely fabricated and has no basis in scripture.
New Living Translation
When she returned home, her father kept the vow he had made, and she died a virgin. So it has become a custom in Israel. for young Israelite women to go away for four days each year to lament the fate of Jephthah's daughter.
Yup, sounds like she was toast.
unbelievable paragraph in yesterday's watchtower was "encouraging" the sheep to not have kids.
most of their growth comes from the born ins and they are still on about not having kids?.
then it went on to "encourage" those that do have kids or grandkids not to spend to much time with them and instead to spend their time serving kingdom interests!.
Incredible end to the paragraph as well -
Such wholehearted service brings deep joy to Jehovah, who will never forget their work and the love shown for him. (Read Hebrews 6:10-12.) Would it be possible for you to make additional sacrifices to serve Jehovah more fully.
Way to go in making people feel guilty for engaging in normal activities like having and looking after a family.
I feel really sorry for all the childless couples who wake up when it's too late to start a family.
one sentence answers only.. here's mine:.
jws exist because people want an escape from the modern world and are willing to give up intellectual freedom to get it..
A watcher if you believe the bible please consider the following verse -
Luke 21:8 He said: “Look out that you are not misled, for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The due time is near.’ Do not go after them.
This is the first thing Jesus says when asked about the time of the end. So what is the 'good news' that JW's are preaching? Is it not 'the due time is near, come after us or be slaughtered by Jehovah'?
How many warnings did Jesus give about false prophets? Name a religion that has preached more false prophecy than JW's. If this is the time of the end and JW's are not false prophets then who is and on what basis?
I'm guessing you believe in the devil as well, if so ask yourself if you believe the devil controls the world and false religion, would it be too hard a task for him to get one of his false religions to preach a false message throughout his world?
In my opinion JW's exist because personality disorders like narcissism exist and because mind control is real.
international version 1 cor 5:11. but now i am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler.
do not even eat with such people.. if shunning is wrong.
.how does one explain this scripture?.
Great comments sanchy and dontfitin, let's face it you could write a list as long as your arm of scriptural contradictions to the way the Borg applies 1 Cor 5 & 2 John vs 10.
Interestingly 2 John is talking about the antichrist and here is the meaning of the word antichrist according to the NWT -
Antichrist. The Greek term has a twofold meaning. It refers to that which is anti, or opposed to, Christ. It may also refer to a false Christ, one in the place of Christ. All people, organizations, or groups that falsely claim to represent Christ or claim to be the Messiah or that oppose Christ and his disciples can properly be called antichrists.—1Jo 2:22
I'm pretty sure we can justify shunning WT literature and leadership on the basis that they have put themselves in the place of Christ with their never ending list of ridiculous rules.
recent experiences on here about cart witnessing when an ex jw engages them in discussion , it`s not long usually before the jw excuses themselves packs up and moves on .. if they really believed they have the "truth" they should be confident enough to win their argument/discussion.and stand their ground.. obviously they aren`t.. if we believe the bible jesus and his apostles never shied away from talking to / engaging in discussions with the jewish religious leaders of the day.?.
not so with jehovah`s witnesses they are instructed not to engage with ex jw`s , people who know what jw`s believe inside out.and can effectively refute their arguments.and point to their failures.. if their faith is that shallow that talking to an ex jw will weaken their own faith , then they really do not have a very strong foundation of their own faith do they.. smiddy.
The book 'reasoning from the scriptures' presents beliefs other religions have and then shows why those beliefs are wrong. Do the same thing with jw beliefs (sooo easy!) and this is classed as apostasy.
Some may see that as a bit hypocritical.
Just saying.
i think the "happy" dance bethel video is the best thing to come out of bethel in 100 years.
sure many were told off for this.
i cant believe so many were convinced to go alittle "worldly.
007 I had a similar experience at our bethel. My wife and I took a sister to bethel to meet up with her bethelite friend, I was working that day so I didn't have a suit on but knowing how strict they are about dress I told the guy on reception I was happy to sit outside in the car. He was really cool with the fact that I was wearing jeans and just told me to take a seat in the reception.
I was just sitting in reception reading a watchtower and 3 sisters in a row approached and asked me what I was doing! The 3rd one said 'you have to understand this is bethel and we can't just have anyone walking around here!'
At that point my wife got mad and told the sister that our contributions were keeping bethel running and she shouldn't be so judgemental. There's nothing 'happy' about that place.
"it's like north korea..." is a phrase i use often to describe this life to outsiders.
think of the situation in north korea, sound similar?
in north korea:.
From the economist.com
"The men of North Korea have been under orders to mind their hairstyles since 2005, when they were berated for their messy barnets by their leader, Kim Jong Il. A television campaign entitled “let's trim our hair in accordance with the socialist lifestyle” warned men that long hair could sap their brains."
Sounds like early Watchtower logic, North Korea and the Borg have a lot in common.
a few days ago i read a post of someone who has recently awakened to what the watchtower bible and tract society really is.
in their comments, they stated that they had been accused of "running ahead of jehovah.".
"running ahead of jehovah" was a statement levied at me many times during my convoluted journey through that organization.
Great example about their ever changing rules on pornea and homosexuality and subsequent punishments.
If you follow the same reasoning any church could justify torturing and killing people for heresy over the centuries, they were all running ahead of Jehovah. Tyndale ran ahead of Jehovah by wanting to make the Bible available to everyone.
Jesus was killed for questioning the Pharisees (God's org) way of doing things so I suppose he ran ahead of Jehovah too.
