Hehe, that was a very clever rebuttal to all the 'true believers,' none of whom will be convinced anyway. Thanks for posting this.

Whoa, people! Think this through. When a JW puts money in the contribution box at the Kingdom Hall, what is he doing? Right. He or she is donating to a charitable cause, at least in his or her eyes. It is tax-deductable.
That's all this is. If you read how this works, individuals contribute money to their own fund, then tell Fidelity who they want to donate money to, Fidelity then follows their instructions and takes care of the donation, and handles all the paperwork for the individual. This is nothing more than the little old sister dropping in a dollar at the Kingdom Hall, except it's for individuals with a lot more money to give, and it's done in a way to handle the taxable records easily and automatically. Fidelity doesn't care who gets the money -- it's not up to them anyway. It's up to the individuals only.
You can't get upset at this unless you are also getting upset every time a JW puts money in the contribution box. It's identical.

WHat I would really love to do is be surrounded by older Bible characters and to be able to relate to them what it was like to live in the time of the end. How I was able to see certain prophecies that they wrote come true.
"And then, John, what you wrote about the bowls of God's anger being poured out..."
"How were those fulfilled?"
"By, wait for this, by seven conventions during the 1920s where resolutions were read!"
"The hell you say!"
"No really."
"Resolutions? That's it? Did anyone notice?"
"Oh yeah, like, a third of the world took notice with horror!"
"Oh? How was that manifested in the world?"
"Um, I'm not sure."
.
.
."Is there anyone else who can explain these things to me?"

Reasons why its so hard to break from the WTS
by Leander ini'm still sitting on the fence trying to figure out which direction to go in.
i think one of the reasons i have'nt left yet is because of the fact that i'm not entirely sure that the wts is really not god's organization.. some of the reasons why i feel that way is because of their insight on the scripture.
i've never heard of any other religion attempt to decipher the prophecies in the book of daniel and revelations.

Please don't do anything before you are ready to do so. It's your life, and only you can live it. Be happy with your choice.
I've never heard of any other religion attempt to decipher the prophecies in the book of Daniel and Revelations. Do other organizations discuss who the Wild Beast is, the difference between the great crowd and the other sheep?
What makes you think the WTS got those prophetic interpretations correct? Do you really think the pouring out of the seven bowls refer to convention resolutions from the 1920s that no one in the world has heard of (and many JWs can barely recall it either)? Do you really think the King of the North and the King of the South switch roles as fast as the history books can be written?
Do other groups attempt to interpret Revelation? I seem to recall David Koresh did. Didn't make him the right religious leader either. Get my point? Just making the attempt ain't enough...

wannahelp,
No joke. Barry was giving a talk at a district convention when he collapsed and died. The name of the talk he didn't get to finish: Opposers Against God Will Not Succeed (or something close to that). The irony was amazing.

hehe, I can't believe no one (or should I say noone) called me on this mistake:
This now your cue
I reverted to caveman mode for a moment. But that does NOT make me a looser...

*ahem* I take this moment to interrupt the usual in-fighting, cat calls, horrible insults, and general sniping to introduce a brief spelling lesson:
It's LOSER! L-O-S-E-R! That is how you spell someone who is not a winner. If you spell "Looser" you mean something that is not as tight as it used to be.
LOSER!
AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!
Sorry, but I've seen this so much in this forum, other forums, everywhere, that I'm afraid it's going to infect the dictionary soon from general misuse. Drives me nuts!
Thank you for your attention. Back to fighting. This now your cue to make me climb the walls by calling me a "looser" for posting this...

HIV tainted blood after 9/11/01?
by DIM inlast night at meeting, the circuit overseer said in his talk "and there has even been talk of hiv / aids tainted blood that has slipped through the screening process in the aftermath of the world trade center bombing, contaminating the survivors of the tragedy.
can you imagine, surviving the world trade center bombing, then finding out you have contracted hiv?
" he made no references to any newspapers or where he got this information from.

There has "been talk" among the JWs at his Hall perhaps, but that's about it. I mean, think it through: Why would the disaster lead to this? Did the building collapse contaminate the blood supply with HIV? Of course not. So he must mean the Red Cross and the hospitals have let down their guard about screening people. But why would they do that? The thing about this disaster is that you either walked out of it alive, or you died. There were very few wounded. Hospitals in New York had almost nothing to do. So what would be the great crush of activity that would cause them to skip the screening process?
That story makes no sense, and any listening JW should have known better, as DIM did.
