Yet another wrong assumption on your part. We apostates are well aware of the pending collapse of the Argentinian economy. What would you like us to do about it, sit around wailing and moaning?

Not only do we know about their economy, we also know how the financial world has been isolated Argentina for months as they foresaw this day coming. Unlike the crises in 1997 and 1998 (which the financial world seems to have survived anyway, funny enough), if Argentina collapses, the economic damage will be more limited.

although i don't agree with your general motives you have accomplished some good.

it appears the watchtower has altered its official policy judging from the reports on the recent elder seminar.. allowing serial cases to be counted as two or more witnesses is similar to the exception courts make in child abuse cases.

ordinariily a jury is not to consider evidence from one case as bearing on another case but this is allowed in the case of child abuse.. i never expected them to fold this easily.

I am glad to see the Watchtower begin to move in the direction of a compromise.

How so? What movement? As was pointed out, this two witness policy has been in place for a long time.

in a universe where all things are possible, consider another possible outcome: wouldn't it be funny if it turned out that a higher intelligence exists, is planning an infinite future of good times for humanity, to the awesome delight felt by all these people who spent their whole lives searching for the truth?.

julie, if you're out there, stop selling yourself short with negative "what if" scenarios.

Another possibility: There is a God, and She is royally pissed at all these Christians who go around saying they are the best, and will allow an afterlife for anyone who DIDN'T claim to represent the truth...

Rick, your idea is fine, and is what you said it was: a wish. Have your wishes, enjoy them, accept them for what they are -- just a wish that children have had since humans developed consciousness. Some grow out of this wish, some do not.

As for me, I expect absolutely nothing after death. Anything therefore that does happen I will consider a bonus. In the meantime, I'm having a great life, and treating my fellow humans with love and respect. Any God that would deny me life for this is not a God worth worshipping.

please give us some help and tell who you think would win this game in a best of 7 series in a neutral court.

keep in mind that all the players are in their prime and consider how these would play as a unit as much as their career stats.

Ever heard of the Chicago Bulls in the mid-to-late 80s? Mediocre, despite the presence of Jordan. "What's Red & Black and plays golf in May?" "A Chicago Bull" -- saying from those days.

You get a dominant center to neutralize Shaq the way no modern-day center can, and Wilt and Russell more than qualify, Malone would school Rodman, Jason Kidd vs. Magic? ROFL!

No, the modern-day players wouldn't have much of a chance. The short-term memories of many sports fans always want to put the modern guys up against anyone. Those modern-day guys aren't as good, however. Jordan excepted, of course, but that's not enough as the 80s Bulls showed.

What's sad is that these prophecies will be used to predict the end all through the 21st century...and the 22nd century...and the 23rd century....just as they were used to predict the end in the 20th, the 19th, the 18th....

Humanity, if they survive, will reach the stars and begin populating the galaxy. But still, there will be those fearful souls who will be convinced that those prophecies will be fulfilled in their day, meaning the end to come on earth, forgetting that by then humanity will have moved beyond the earth. But no matter, facts have never mattered to such ones in the past, so why will it matter then? God told them, and that's the end of the subject!

Thanks for the important distinction between corporate welfare and tax breaks. There is a difference, and it is good to keep it straight.

The conservative approach to every economic problem is to let the rich have more of thir money, in the assumption that it will trickle down to all. As has been shown during the Reagan years, what ends up happening instead is that the rich do exceedingly well, the upper-middle-class make strides, the middle class get middling results, and the poor get hammered. Nice theory, not so good in practice.

I'm not sure what the best approach to take is, but more often than not I tend to want the government to stay out of the way (yup, I'm a fine liberal, huh?). Economies go up, and they go down, and every time the government sticks their nose into the mess they are usually a day late and a dollar short (but their corporate friends make out well regardless).
