To comment further for ARoarer, I just got a phone call from a friend at Bethel who was checking up on me. Brooklyn Bethel is fine, so that area of Brooklyn is fine.

ARoarer,
No word on anything in Brooklyn; I would think that area is fine. When the towers collapsed, they did not collapse far, but almost fell in on itself. Brooklyn is probably fine.

Keep in mind that the first of the attacks occurred a few minutes before 9am. From that moment onward, the Trade Center buildings were being evacuated immediately. Since the first of the towers didn't collapse for at least 30-45 minutes later, I would imagine that many of those 50,000 were safely out of the building first. That plus many of them may not have made it to the office yet. No one knows for sure yet, but here in NYC there are no reports of massive casualities yet. Time will tell.
As for You Know, he knows absolutely nothing. He's been predicting terrorist attacks on the U.S. year after year after year. Like a stopped clock, even You Know gets to be right every now and then. His callousness is another matter. This is an appalling situation, and truly tragic.

And now the second trade tower has collapsed. The World Trade Center is no more.

And now one of the two twin towers has collapsed. Uncertain if this was due to anothe plane strike, or the weakening from the earlier strike. But a tower has collapsed.

Coming Clean
by wokeup ini have a question.
if for instant bro.ingoodstanding comes to an elder and says he wants to confess a serious sin, and says " i raped and murdered 6 boys 15 years ago and they're buried in the backyard.
would the elder(s) report it to the police wether or not the bro.

There would be a judicial committee for sure, and no doubt the elders would encourage him to report himself to the police. There is no statute of limitations on murder, so the police need to know. Recall all those examples in the WT about, say, a former jewel thief who becomes a JW. Once he does, he is "encouraged" to turn himself into the police, and do his time. The same would be true of murder cases. Lack of bodies is no problem when you have a confession. And asking for forgiveness doesn't erase the debt to society that is owed.
And yes, this should be the case with child abuse, but obviously isn't, and that's part of the problem.

Jurs,
Thanks for the kind words, and I'm glad it helps. If you are going to print it out, print out the edited version I just made. I corrected some typos that were bothering me, and added a new line at the end to really drive home the point.
However, I should point out that JWs usually don't take kindly to printed material that could have "come from apostates." The more effective approach is to learn their canned responses and develop ready answers that they can't handle. My script was an attempt to demonstrate how to do that.
I find the most effective approach when discussing a contentious issue is to anticipate your opponent's responses, and then come up with things to say that take those responses into account ahead of time. Takes the wind out of their sails.

So, okay you 'christians', what does God REALLY
by AGuest ini would exhort you to first ask... and then listen... to the master's voice on the matter, and if you cannot 'hear'... or exercise faith in what you 'hear'... then go to the 'scriptures'.
for indeed, it is 'written'... in the scriptures.
it is not, however, 'written' in the letters, histories, chronologies and gospels.

Book of Enoch
by Moxy insomeone mentioned the jude quotation of the non-canonical book of enoch recently and i noticed the latest wt (9/15/01) article on enoch addressed this.
i also found a 98 reference to this which suggested that enoch was actually written after jude, a stance which they seem to have abondoned.
in fact, the whole thing seems like a very typical post-franz, 'we don't know, ok. stop asking us stupid questions' kind of response.

How do they know the book of Jude was written under inspiration and the book of Enoch wasnt?
Because Jude is in the Bible and Enoch isn't. And everything in the Bible canon is considered inspired. How did the book of Jude make it into the canon and the book of Enoch did not?
Because in the 2nd and 3rd centuries, the Christian community decided so.Isn't it true that the Bible said after the apostles died the apostasy would flourish?
Yes, it does.Isn't it true that by the 3rd century, the apostasy was in full bloom, according to the WTS?
Yes, it is true.So doesn't that mean the Bible canon was decided by apostates?
Uh, what's your point? That the book of Jude was considered canonical by apostates, and the book of Enoch was not considered canonical by apostates.
Yeah, so?So the reason we know the book of Jude is inspired is because some apostates said so.
