God Hates Fundamentalists
by Seeker infound this site: http://www.godhatesfundies.com/about/.
basically takes on those who espouse illogical and fundamentalist views of the world, notably the more hard-line conservative christian element in the u.s.a. (think: jack chick).
interesting and fun stuff for those who like such things.

Song parody: The Adams Family
by Seeker ini felt like creating another song parody and i was casting around looking for the right song to pick.
at first i thought of the brady bunch, but nothing seemed to fit just right ("here's a story of a man named chuckie..") or ("here's a story of a lovely culty...").
i dunno, at every turn i wound up getting to the blood issue or child molestation and it became less funny.. so i stumbled onto the adams family lyrics (which are very simple), and was stunned to see that i didn't have to change a thing!

ex-JW life -- Reality vs. Fantasy
by Seeker inwhat are the lives of ex-jws really like?
the wts tells jws one thing, but is what they say reality, or fantasy?.
a common technique used by the wts to express their viewpoint while avoiding the truth of the matter is to focus on the specific and imply that it is the general.. let me explain: do you know of any ex-jws who were disfellowshipped for immorality?

Do JWs think they have a 'religion'?
by Seeker in(rather than continue to allow an existing thread to be hijacked by a different topic, i'm starting this new topic.
it continues an argument between myself and tallyman.
the question is, do jws refer to themselves as having a 'religion' or do they still follow the old rutherford notion of all religions being a 'snare and a racket'.

How sad H2O has become!
by Seeker inihardly ever look at h2o now that all the interesting posters are here, but i took a look today for old time's sake: how utterly changed the place has become!
a handful of messages on the front page, many from the evangelical (or worse, the joshua92's) crowd.
where is the volume from the old days?

JWs and odd health practices
by Seeker ini noted a long thread earlier that dealt with the frequency with which jws will accept medical practices that are far out of the mainstream.
kinesiology, and herbs, and the like were all mentioned, and there was much discussion about whether these things should be taken seriously or not.
i do not want to get into such a discussion, but wanted to talk about why i think jws are so frequently involved in such health pursuits.. someone mentioned that jws are trained to be suspicious of the medical establishment, and that's right.
