  Is it true? John Denver asks any Witnesses to leave his concert!

  version 1. john denver at his concert asks "if there are any jehovah's witnesses in the audience can you please leave.".

  version 2. on the johnny carson show he said the same before singing a patriotic song.

  johnny carson told denver "see that cameraman there..and that lighting guy...there jehovahs witnesses, alot of witnesses work for me because their honest people..so now you can leave.".

  This JW myth - and a dozen similar ones - have been brought up on JWD probably 1000 times and just beat to death.
  
  None of these are true, it seems, just stupid fabrications with a life of their own that keep getting regurgitated.

  Witnesses "Praying" That We Come Back

  my mother tells me she prays to jehovah every night that i come back to "the truth".

  recently, i did something nice for my extremist jw aunt and she was moved by my generosity.

  this is the same woman that refused to acknowledge my presence in a hospital room when i visited my uncle.

  Funny you should ask. After 11 months, I did go get my hair trimmed this past Saturday. I took a few pics a couple of weeks ago, so I may have something from then, and Lori's taking new pics soon.
  
  During the course of the year, if I was having a "bad hair day," I might just grab the scissors and lop off an inch or two here or there, and it had gotten fairly long and in need of layering and even-ing out, so that's what we did Saturday. I'll see what we have and post some pics.
  
  My mom is 86, going strong, but I know things won't last forever. NONE of my siblings are Witnesses, which will help, but I dread the idea of going to the Hall for a funeral. I know there are folks there who see me as the ultimate disappointment to her, when I was once her super elder son pride and joy.

  Blood Issue took my mom last night

  after years of fighting a physical disability that ended in kidney failure and several bouts of respiratory/cardiac arrestmy mom landed in the hospital last week.

  the doc's said she needed heart surgery and kidney transplants but before they could operate they need to get her blood count back up.

  it had fallen well below what her body could naturally restore on its own she she needed transfusions.

  At Bethel are there any women managers at all?

  to those who would know i would like to ask if there are departments at bethel where a woman is the manager.. what about the kitchen?

  can a woman be a manager, or overseer, or whatever there?.

  cleaning department, what about this one most of that work is given to the women?.

  I remember when Olga Campbell was doing the decorating at Bethel. we visited down there several times with close friends of the Campbell's. It was passed on to me that Merton was upset when he found out I'd left the Witnesses.
  
  Joy Woody, Chuck's wife, was from the Brattleboro, VT congregation, and has family there. Chuck was almost always one of our DC speakers because of that.
  
  I remember Olga talking about some of the things you mentioned, Barb, in the evenings over drinks!
  
  Outdated sexism has got to be taking its toll on the Witnesses. I know a lot of really bright women who just found it essentially mindless.

  Ah, the indignation of a self-righteous, certain of herself teenager! I was there once, and could have written that letter, or something close to it. She writes like a true cult believer.
  
  I agree with Snowbird and A@G's comments. A sincere reply spelling out what you've found out about the JWs that caused you to change your view might be in order. She's terribly inexperienced and naive, and it shows. But there must be something going on if she found your website, and then took the time to write to a well-known apostate, in JW-thought at least!
  
  Also, my ex-wife and other JWs have hit me with the, "Why don't you leave JWs alone? Why are you so critical and feel the need to expose us?" line. I find that comment, coming from an organization most famous for knocking on the doors of strangers, telling them their religions are wrong, condemned by god and that only the JWs have the REAL TRUTH, as incredibly hypocritical.
  
  As I recently wrote to a couple of Witnesses, I'll be glad to stop publicly questioning and criticizing the WTS, just as soon as the Witnesses stop going house to house uninvited, forcing their views on strangers, and just as soon as they stop claiming to be the only religion with the TRUTH.
  
  Until then they have absolutely no basis to whine and ask ex-JWS to "leave us alone and stop picking on us!" If they're out there all the time dishing it out, they better be able to take it themselves.

  Ever have any friends or family go to prison? I have. I have friends that are doctors and lawyers too. Having one doesn't make me a criminal, having the other doesn't make me a surgeon or trial attorney.
  
  This is probably as pathetic as the attempt to make Obama a terrorist because he once worked with a 60s radical - who's a tenured professor at a major US university, for christ's sake!
  
  Time to stop the whining and wishful thinking and start helping to solve some real problems this country is facing. Look at your 401K lately??

  I find Charlie Rose intellectually stimulating - and you know how I like to be stimulated, Min!
  
  Also, I'm a sucker for almost any documentary on PBS, especially the biographical ones. Right now there is a great one on the Smothers Brothers making the rounds.

  Charlie Rose on PBS is without parallel. These other guys aren't even in the same room as Rose when it comes to great guests and interesting conversation. That's a REAL talk show.
  
  If you're asking about the late night comedians - John Stewart. And I enjoy Letterman, Leno, et al.
