No bashing there. Good job, PWP, and like Purps, I love the accent.

by passwordprotected in...and here's what i had to say; http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/430149/markatkbc.mp3.
one local jw heard that i was speaking about leaving the wts in church and quickly labelled it, in ignorance, as 'witness bashing'.. .
have a listen and judge for yourself.

What Little Rebellious Things Did You Do When Still A JW?

Our family was one of those that went back to the hotel, changed into casual clothes, and then went out to supper or the mall after the DC program. I thought it was silly, this staying in your suit and wearing your name tag thing after the program.

Yea, the collapse of the Soviet Union was a real problem for WTS chronology, eh!
It made, and continues to make, them look like idiots. They haven't been stupid enough to give the prophecy another new meaning.
And I also remember the info about the message getting harder just before the end.
The WTS has just made such a mess of all of this.

My birthday is April 1 (no surprise there, eh!!) , and I had a close classmate who's b'day was April 3. During my last few years of high school, a favorite teacher always threw a party for us on April 2. Which I attended.
I think when someone commented earlier in this thread that most JWs do things not approved by the WTS, that that was true. They are loyal, as it were, to the concept of the WTS, but rebellious of the rules.

Min, you reminded me. It got to the point where, when I was an elder, if there wasn't a clear verse backing a WTS rule, I wouldn't support the rule either.
For example, the ban on oral sex. When a couple came to me to ask about it, I'd just tell them there is nothing in the Bible about it, and as far as I was concerned, it was their own business what they wanted to do.

"But why is he always a pompous self-important fatass?" There are an awful lot of fatass elders, at least here in the States.
But then I was watching the Suns and later the Celtics yesterday (guess you can tell who I was rooting for), and when they showed all the guys in the crowds cheering and high fiving, I realized we're essentially a nation of fat asses. Something like 75% are obese or overweight - and many of them attend ball games or are JW elders!
About the rule not to clap when someone is reinstated, it's very interesting why that was put in place.
The WTS said not to clap because so many of those reinstated don't really make much progress, so it wasn't a good idea to praise them as it were for getting reinstated, as they had a lot to prove after that. So they were basically saying that most reinstatements don't work out so well.

Why so do so many serial killers live in America like the B.T.K killer?
by Witness 007 indennis rader the b.t.k {bind torture kill} serial killer was caught and confessed to killing 10 people from 1974-91 in kansas in a gruesome fashion.
he sent letters to police boasting to them.
in 2004 he foolishly sent police a floppy disc with information on it.

For the tax breaks.
Actually, sort of a dumb question. I think if you were looking for folks with multiple murders under their belts, there are a few African nations suffering under tribal violence where you'd find 1000s of them.
The US has no monoply on the criminally insane.

Where there little things that you did just to express yourself and feel like you weren't just some robot clog in a machine?
I was thinking of stuff I did over the years:
Read whatever books I wanted, even apostate ones over the years. I think that's what got me thinking and eventually out of the JWs.
Listened to whatever music I wanted (though I did toss out some albums when that whole thing was going around - Imagine getting rid of Jimi's Electric Ladyland 'cause it had Voodoo Child on it??!! A few years later, still a JW, I rebought most of what I'd tossed!)
My kids used to make those string "friendship" bracelets, and I ended up wearing a bunch of them. But, I remember there were actually brothers who counseled against them in meeting parts! By that time I was an elder and assembly overseer and didn't take any of that shit from anyone. One brother tried to put me down about it, and I just stomped all over that!
It's not unusual for me to wear two or three slim, silver rings on each hand (not the bulky ones with stones - can't stand those fat rings), and I did that when I was a JW. I remember some CO actually giving like a quota of rings that would be 'appropriate' for a Witness - it was like anything over two rings was drawing attention to yourself. What an ass!
Any others?
