My daughter had 7 years of Latin and blew away the IP Latin test. Unfortunately, she's 3 years out from that. PM me if you want an opinion from her. :)
She may recall some of the rules. They're baffling to me.
does anyone know if this strategy will work to avoid being disfellowshipped?
if one moves their card from one hall to another before a "wrongdoing" becomes public - and then refuses to meet with the elders at the new hall - will they simply be able to fade away without being disfellowshipped.
i had heard that if you refuse to meet with the elders, they generally will not df you - in order to avoid possible legal issues.
Reading Flippers advice...
I've read post after post about trying to allude elders and it's terrible for the victims. Right now, I'm just trying to draw a bibical parallel to leveraging the USPS to kick people out of salvation.
To most who know as I have always known (traditional Christianity), the WTS's arrogance is hilariously ridiculous.
jw: yes thats right.. me: good!
jw: yes, thats true.. me: good.
jw: yes, sure do.. me: tell me, john, what would you do if jesus christ told you that you shouldnt follow jehovahs witnesses?.
I think I've been ID'd as one who may be too assertive so I'm going to have to use this in a gentler way, but OH I'm using this! *grin*
the god of love speaks through a watchtower representative.
the speaker is.
ciro aulicino 2007. this is the jwfacts condensed version.
OMG! THIS IS THE KINDS OF THINGS SAID? THIS IS WHAT YOU LISTEN TO AT CONVENTIONS????
Please say this is not the norm!
went to the weeknight meeting this week for the first time in a long while.
the study was all about how having children was ill-advised in this time of the end- the comments dwelled on what a burden children are, how you can spend more time in the ministry without children, and look what they did in jerusalem- they cannabilized their own children!
it's going to be so horrible to watch our children suffer during the great tribulation!
Yikes! Ouch... Eustace, those are some pretty strong words. Hoping you see better days.

The meeting this week? TOTALLY BENEFITTED ME!
My friend is now aware of the remain childless and don't even bother marrying and said he was absolutely SICKENED by the meeting!
WTS? The more you write, the easier my conversations with him becomes... PLEASE keep exposing yourself!!!!!
And why, WTS, with all the love in your congregations, are there separate JWs who are referring to me, a worldy, as their ONLY true friend????
As their "only true friend", I have a whole lot of influence and I've done a WHOLE lot of talking to them. Please... keep increasing my credibility.
discussion with wife today led to her questioning whether i believe or not.
i told her that i just can't roll over and accept everything new thing they say just like that.
we were, of course, talking about the "new light".
For whatever it's worth, Justus Lipsius' De Cruci Libri noted in the Watchtower literature is on Google Books for FREE. Some versions have more pictures than others.
It's written in Latin - still and yet, if I see a picture of a dude on a CROSS with his head glowing and INRI on a plaque above his head, I don't have to be an expert in Latin translation to figure out who it's depicting. *sigh*
I so hope you get through to her.
i really enjoyed church today, i have been visting serevel in the last few weeks, all the ones i have been to have been okay, but no more, but today i felt comfortable with everything i seen.
it seemed very doctrinally sound, christ centered and the big bonus i did not hear a word about money!
they did not pass a plate(i dont know if they do but today there was none).
Unstop and Lisa, good for you...
If the focus of the church is on worshipping the Lord you've decided to believe in and not on how to creatively sell the religion to others*, you're probably in a better place than you used to be and hopefully you'll realize the relationships you form will NOT be conditional. If you leave for six months and then return you'll still be accepted.
I'm excited for you!
*I swear inserting the sales gig into a worship service still makes my skin crawl.
been doing a bit of research trying to tie in together a few different strands.. not too sure what happened to christianity and how organised religion took hold again after the apostles died off.. i know jerusalem was sacked 70 ce.
but lots to fill in from that point onwards to bring us to where we are today.. if a few peeps could help to condense and simplify the info down into a few bite size pieces it would give us a starting point to begin to re-educate ourselves to the truth.
and fill in the blanks.
Oh yeah.... see what you can learn about the apocrypha too. RC church may have notes on the Council of Nicea.
Where did Russell get HIS early century info from??
Don't mean to be condescending, but I'd have to put my trust dibs on the Catholic church on historical data.... not some dude walking along the Allegheny River making crap up.
sorry about typos. on phone... very hard to edit.
