WOW! So the leaders promote the organization to a media outlet and then suggest that the media outlet promoted the sect.
GREAT CATCH!
this is funny i mean really.
the article is stating what jehovahs witnesses believe... not what the paper thinks of them.. my wife found this one... this is her first catch that she found herself and she is tickled pink lol.

i still believe it's coming.
i think if god is real, it has to come.
it only makes sense.

as i continue to post these letters just to let people see what they can expect through a fade, i hope they are not annoying anyone.. if so please let me know and i will no longer post them.
however i think these letters help you to see how cultish and crazy this religion causes people to become:.
evening <name removed>,.
For whatever it's worth, reading the letters helps me understand the mindsets that many are struggling with.
Should any of my friends leave, I'm seeing that this type of pressure may be a huge weight on their psyches.
This is painful.
a customer on my route with whom i have had some lively debates was his number 1 complaint is that "the witnesses have so many rules".
last month i agreed with on this issue.
he asked why the change, i told him that i have been doing some soul searching.
James, notions are challenged on this board. Mine have been on a regular basis. Being challenged is how you grow mentally... and sometimes spiritually. Through that, one evolves.
Growing up, some of the JWs I know had the worst morals. One is on Megan's list, another has been in and out of jail, and a third seemed to have a nervous condition for failings she believed she had. Drug and alcohol secrets were rampant. Sometimes - not so secret when it came to alcoholism where their parents were concerned. Megan's list guy was a little older, so I had no close dealings with him, but he was always a little strange. I love them all but steered somewhat clear... until recently.
Then he asked the Big Question: Why are YOU still in?
I paused and said: "Because I have a teenage child at home, I have to instill some core principles in his life so hopefully he does not go crazy in his adult years like child 1 did".
I'm a non and never have been - jw. While I fail to attend church on most Sundays, I'm an avid reader of the scriptures. My child's friends call her "Designated Dxxx" because of the wisdom and morals she walks with that were instilled in her.
Your statement above implies that the only way a child will have morals is if they are raised as JWs. Should I see your statement above as insulting or attacking?
Stick around. It'll sometimes be painful, but you'll grow here, James. You really will....
I have and I appreciate everyone for it.
the death of a jw and the birth of me the apostate.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2lwgowdpj8.
a huge thanks to my friend ray publisher (jwstruggle) for posting my video for me.
now that i am no longer held prisoner from the fear of watchtower, i can now help others!.
Just watched it...
Thatta girl!!!!! Congratulations. :)
so, i have stated here that i am in the midst of what has so far been a fairly painless "fade".
i have over time decided that i am still a person of faith and am on the move in search of a good, christian, grace focused church to go to.
while discussing this with my cousin pete, (a lay minister with the assemblies of god church), he suggested that since i was involved with the wt that i should seriously consider offering up a prayer of renunciation.
I agree with Londo and Laika. The WT is steeped in practices, but are they of the occult?...naaaaa.
I believe the proper perspective of Proverbs 4 is in order here... The light got brighter for you. :)
Trust and believe that your heart and path are known by Him. You're already forgiven of any harm that was done.
Londo - I'm with you on the Pentacostals.... that denomination isn't for me either.
tortured by this talk where they are attempting to legitimize the division/ separation of family.. "sadly friends some will refuse to have courage in this matter.is it not in our best interests to abide the arrangements of the christian congregation as set by jehovah?
accept the torture stake involved in confessing union with christ.
then they cite the example of a brother who is thankful to his wife for persisting in preaching to him.. now they are talking about disfellowshipping, lay serious guilt trip .the brother talking about his baby sister getting disfellowshipped, how his father cried for the first time.
OMG, Rebel8 I'm crying in laughter!
It doesn't matter WHAT you really look like. Now and forevermore, you will look like the woman in the ninth second of this video to me.
i am not sure if anyone cares, but the drama with my mother and me leaving the org continues.. apparently after todays craptower she goes on a spastic rant that because of my decision i am slowly killing her and my father.
the funny thing is i do not feel bad over this... i can't.. i have children and a wife of my own that i need to be happy for.
i love them - but as they get older and closer to death i realize that a new season is coming and imust care for my family the best way i can... the same way they thought they were doing.
Steve2 says
They don't need to belong to a strict religious group to perfect the art of emotional blackmail...
Do you know my non-JW mother? Heck, I wish I had an influence to blame. *sigh*
I'm sorry, Soso... I wish I had something better to offer but Steve is right. Mom's are very adept in these techniques... I think they get their licenses at their own children's birth. Grandmothers are certified professionals.
a great point was made by neverknew on another thread about certain doctrinal issues will cause a 'thinker' to wake up, but a 'feeler' will just shrug and carry on.
the feeler jw is often not stupid, but intellectually lazy.
they will often not bother to do research, whatever is said from the platform is fine.
Londo, we need you! I'm now in friend "love" with Leolaia! *grin*
In that post, I believe I was arguing against the theory of 607 not being a significant catalyst towards an awakening. Given my reading, the inconsistencies seemed to be a valuable contribution to many awakenings.
I'm beginning to wonder if being personally wronged or being up close and personal WITH the wrongs (in a position of authority or as the spouse of someone in a position of authority) could be the biggest catalyst for feelers in realizing WTS inconsistencies. Is this a possibility?
...and out of curiousity, was there any event that made you feel uncomfortable that preceded this research?
