The whole topic disgusts me. I honestly think they should be turned over to the police. Duties and privileges removed, the JW's have no business in acting as the court system, jury, or JW police unit here.. Or even any matter of peoples lives. Enough of counseling the predators, grooming them for service, etc.. Enough of it, just send them to jail.

Poopie has a thought what do you think child molestation
by poopie inso here's my thought what should be done to an elder that is accused of molesting a child and there no 2 witnesses ?
1. the elder should immediately step down or be removed.2.
the child should be protected.

Lunch today with.. JW step father....
by raven init has been a while since i've posted, i think its because i have finally gotten some peace and quiet as far as harassment from the jw elders.. my step father, the one who reported me to the elder police for a sinful act invited me to lunch today.. it has been almost a year since the incident, we have talked here and there, it has been just casual though.
he says he is in town for work and asked if i would like to meet up for lunch, i couldn't think of any excuses so i agreed.. i hope it goes well, hope that we don't go into the jw nonsense.
hope he doesn't bring elders with him, am i paranoid or what?

OrphanCrow, you make a good point.. I suspect he may try to drop JW info in our conversations if we do end up meeting for lunch again sometime. But I don't ask any questions back about that subject, nor do I really acknowledge it.. I just nodded, and said "that's nice".. But, coming from someone such as yourself who has over 40 years of experience with this, I am sure you have had encounters with JW's since leaving.. How do you handle it?

UPDATE-
I just got back from lunch with step father.. I have to say, all of my speculations, paranoia ideas were put to rest.. We talked about generic topics, weather, work, cars, family etc.. He did try to drop a couple of JW points in there, he told me that two people I knew got reinstated.. He also said during our subject of cars, that he wants to trade in his car for a bigger one so that he can always use it for service. I was friendly about it, but I didn't ask questions. Anyways, so it went well, maybe more lunch meet ups in the future?

FLIPPER- I appreciate your input! You always are able to give me great advice.. I will tread lightly, like I had mentioned, I won't be surprised if he brings up any JW topics.. But like you had suggested, I'll wade around it. Just need to stick to not giving out information.. Generic subjects should do best here. Fingers crossed.

Interesting, I think he will return as he sees you as one he may be able to persuade into coming back.. Good conversation though, I am not sure I would open the door to one if they came by my house- None have yet.. Wonder why?

OUTLAW, agreed. 1 hour until lunch! If he doesn't have an elder there, I am sure JW topics may perhaps come up, but maybe because he will be trying to preach to me to come back.. Sigh, just hoping to enjoy a nice lunch JW topic free.

Living with Your Parents Well Into Adulthood the Norm?
by Sorry ini don't want to seem like a jerk.
i know full well economic times are not the greatest.
there's no shame in struggling and staying with your family until you're back on your feet.

Ridiculous, I remember this too- In my ex KH the young people would pioneer and serve in various ways, by doing so their families let them stay with them rent free since they were serving Jehovah "full time".. My mother also offered me the same deal, I was only allowed to stay at home after 18 by pioneering.... I moved out at 19.

UNSHACKLETHECHAINS, I agree with you, I think that a lot of witnesses sneak to talk with shunned family and/or friends.. I cannot imagine how these folks are able to shun so coldly. I have always noticed though that many of the active JW's will hear a talk about how they need to treat ex JW friends and family or even "worldly people", they'll snap into shun mode, but after some time they wont be so harsh.. And then just in time, another GB speech or talk is presented to reel them back in.. Such control, incredibly sad.

Thanks for your input ROOM215, you have a good point, however I live 2 hours away from my ex KH ( Step father attends that one ) He is in town for the day so I assume it would have been too short of notice to ask an elder to come.. He did ask me, so perhaps he is trying to make effort not to entirely shun me, especially after these terrible shunning talks. My hope is that one day he will wake up.
