  Our local health authority use to run the data ( before they stopped reporting to make the conservative base happy ) in cases in the last 120 days. It was further broken down into age groups, number of vaccinations given, cases and cases per 100,000, Hospitalizations, ICU admissions and deaths. It showed exactly who was ending up in the ICU and dying. The very elderly ( 80 plus ) or people between 50-75 who didn't have three doses. Even if there was a death or ICU admission in the 10-50 range, it as 90% unvaxxed. The really scary part was the amount of young ones ending up in ICU care.
  

  With the data being broken down into 120 day cycles, it really dismissed the idea that data was altered because large numbers of unvaxxed people prior to the vaccine roll out died.

  I thought the right wing media loved to tell us more people died under Biden than Trump anyway.

  I had an discussion with a guy the other day who really thought he had a smoking gun. He showed me some data how nearly as many people vaccinated died of covid as univaccinated people ( thus it was pointless to get vaccinated ). He was so proud of himself.

  I had to explain to him how you can't use a one to one ratio when 90% of the population is vaccinated and explained some basic mathematics to him and how cases per 100,000 is a much better indicator of how the vaccine works.

  Ran the numbers and showed him he was 12 times more likely to die of covid univaccinated. What is what the data you are showing me is displaying.

  His face dropped, said " Well, you can't trust the Data, Fake News blah blah " ( which came from his Right Wing website).

  It doesn't really matter that this point. Anti-Vaxxers are just fucking idiots. There is no reasoning, no logic. Just fools.

  There are two types of people in the world. The first goes to University from 4 to 12 years and becomes a Nurse, Doctors or Scientists. The other reads facebook and twitter and cover their car with flags and stickers. The seconds believes they are equal to the first.

  I have been out for a long time but the unfortunate part for me is my wife is still in.

  Once a while I would go to the kitchen in the middle of a zoom meeting and catch some of the meeting. It is insane once you put distance between yourself and it and hear some of it. It is so bloody hate filled.

  Romans 10 really shows the ambitious use of the tetragrammaton, which is an idea rooted in the old testament.

  LORD is invisible and no one talks to him or can see him but they did talk and see a figure who is LORD.

  I went to a JW function a few years back and it was no secret I didn't give a shit anymore. Some old timer got me in a corner and basically wanted to start a debate. What made it more strange it was just the unique nonsense to the WTS.

  when i was growing up, some people were on welfare but the vast majority were working people that paid their own rent, doctor’s bills, medicine, food, etc.

  —and saved money.

  so, a working person did not need financial help from the government if they didn’t have vices.

  I was a fairly devoted conservative till I did some travelling in the developing world. People say things like the invisible hand of capitalism will lead to prosperity and tax cuts seem to be the be all end all solution to everything. All I saw was people who paid no taxes and who received no services. The very epitome of what unbridled capitalism is. Of course there was a very few ultra rich but mostly poor. Really really poor.

  Wanting a progressive tax system and a social contract doesn't make you woke or a communist.

  i was under the impression that it was going to be a short war, that russia’s military would indeed subdue ukraine’s forces quickly but that is not happening.

  seems that russia’s military power is much less than it’s reputed to be.

  Something that doesn't to make US history books is post 1970, the South Vietnam army had become a capable fighting force, the government was rather stable and the communists had become rather unpopular in the South. The whole anti-war movement was more about the prospect of rich kids getting drafted than an actual moral opposition to the war.

  I digress.

  This new world order is people like Putin, Erdogan ( Turkey), Bolsonaro ( Brazil), Orban ( Hungry ) even Trump. Populist assholes with peddling simple answers to stupid people. The fight in Ukraine is about so much more. Are we going to do the right thing or is the world just going to become a series of strongmen ruling the world.

  In 1973 , the South Vietnam army drove back an a full blown invasion with US air power and finally drove the communists to the negotiation table. The communists really thought the war was unwinnable.

  The US democrat controlled congress then started with the same chickenshit rhetoric as the republicans today. ( lets give peace a chance, lost cause, South Vietnamese corruption etc etc ) and then pulled all funding for ARVN. No bullets, no paychecks. The North Vietnamese who were still well supplied by the Soviets and Chinese then rolled over South Vietnam.

  Sadly, History will repeat itself in Ukraine.

  As for my part in the Ukraine in the conflict, I am currently helping with Refugee resettlement in my community. If I didn't have a family to protect and provide for, it sure would be tempting. Real red dawn shit.

  The world surrendered Crimea hoping Putin would go away. Where have I read that story before ? Those poor Russians forced to live in such a tiny winy little country. Oh boy, this place is a real history class.
