Why should policy changes mean anything? Even without the policies, the scriptural command, to which we were so strictly bound by the org. was to not touch the unclean thing. They touched it, alright, and justifying it away is moot. Don'tcha think?

Just reread the info above...even if the rules were not in place until 94..after the GB requested NGO standing, I still cannot fathom that they did such...at all...for any reason. And to think, I didn't have children, go to college (until now, at 45) didn't attend parents' funerals, or sister's wedding, nephews' baptisms, etc. etc....all in a concerted effort to keep from touching "the unclean thing." I am shocked...really shocked, and I need to know if the ordinary publisher is aware of any of this.

I have been an exJW for 5 yrs, and devoutly so for a little while less....even so, I am still really shocked about the UN connection. I wonder how I would have grappled with, or justified such as a faithful pioneer. Does the average pub know any of this? Was it dealt with in a reading of a pre-service meeting letter from the society?

JW marriages
by Realist in.
since jw are not allowed to live together and cannot have sexual relations before they get married are many jw marriages unhappy?
i hear that they think jw marriages are much happier than normal marriages...can anyone verify that?.

Does anyone have access to the divorce rate among the JWs? Percentages compared to the general public, and all?

JoeShmoe...I was married, and a witness for nearly 22 yrs....I can say that it was the stipulations imposed by the society, particularly as they related to sexual matters, which contributed largely to the misery I suffered in that relationship. That, added to the fact that he had been sanctioned to be my head, master, and decisionmaker. Well, no more, baby! I have left him, left the org (somebody kindly tell me what borg means? I am new to this) I am remarried and guiltfree, unrestrained, imaginative (Jesus, cover your eyes) sex is liberating and wonderful.

JW's and drinking
by DanTheMan inis it just me, or is alchohol consumption at parties and vacations virtually an unwrittten rule of jw-culture?.
when i was in, i did not drink, and i still don't.
i often felt almost ostracized for this by my jw associates.

Hello....Am still trying to get my first post through..began several days ago with a response to the JW Illustrations, and now JWs and drinking! Goodness, I am bursting here! Have stories out the wazoo! First, as a Witness I drank, just never before a meeting...I had principles! I think most of us drank, we just considered the present company. Drink freely among reg. pubs, more freely in front of aux. pios, rarely, if ever in front of elders, and never, never in the presense of COs...wasn't that the general, unwritten rule?

Questions about WT illustrations
by Beck_Melbourne inwhen i was a kid....i used to look at the wt illustrations of paradise conditions and would day dream about life in the new system....i later used this same technique (shame on me) to brain wash bible students.
however...as i grew up lol (apparently!
) the illustrations changed....and became more modern.

I have been trying to post a response for a number of days...am new at this, and I can't seem to get through. My point is moot now, since the topic is pushed all the way back to page...what...497??? Just trying to come aboard....
