Ok Joe, you asked for it. I have 2 Poms. different as night and day. Bert is male, 5.5 lbs...red, fluffy, and doesn't believe he isn't a wolf. He considers himself to be ferocious. nasty little teddy bear. then there is his little sister (not litter mates...just sibs by adoption) She is pure black, sweet, dainty, prissy. Her name is Tina, and she weighs in at a whopping 3.7 pounds. everyone who sees her instantly adores her, and she, above all, knows she is adorable. Then there's Sarge. He is a big black something. 78 lbs...an orphan who wandered into our yard a few yrs back and decided to stay. He is a big baby, who doesn't realize he is any larger than the other two. If I sit down, all 3 kids pile into my lap. They all sleep in the bed, and I have suffered many a cramp, not rolling over in order to avoid disturbing my sleeping beauties. They have been wonderful friends...and I do kiss them and let them kiss me!

Dana...valium! Now THERE'S an idea! Only kidding, of course. The therapist assures us we are doing all of the right things. it would just help me immensely, if I could see light at the end of the tunnel. The thought of plugging along like this for years on end, is depressing, to say the least. When my husband and I have several days running by ourselves, I am so happy. I see our marriage on the back burner (when it is ont he stove at all) when his kids are with us. Perhaps natural families experience this, as well. I really have no way of knowing what's normal. I have little with which to compare our situation. Thank you, everyone, for your kind , sympathetic words.

Joe...there is nothing you can do to avoid the fact that your kids will resent you and think you are unfair. i am convinced it goes with the territory. hopefully, they will grow up one day and have their own puppies, and finally understand what parenting is about. (I, too, have always had children like yours...so easy to train...they WANT to be obedient, the little darlings...what brand are yours?) HbH

There is something to the perfect ratio for measuring prettiness. i saw something about it recently on the learning channel. There are certain universal features to beauty, one of which is symmetry, and because I have a mind like a sieve, (Is there spellcheck in this forum?) I cannot recall all the other features of the report. They did, however, talk at some length about the ratio thing...distance between eyes, proportionate distance between nose and lips, etc. Anybody else see it?

Moe, the 10 yr old girl, not at all ashamed to pulling a full-out temper tantrum in public, WANTS to be hit, I am convinced of this. Then she could run back and tell her mommy that Pop hit her. He, of course, does NOT hit her. She displays a definite need to be victimized. Makes me wonder what's going on at the other end..when she is with mom and stepdad. My husband says she has been like this always, and he is a firm believer in nature over nurture..."It's just who she is." blah blah blah. We'll all get through, and the kids will grow up to be well-adjusted people. they will make their own way. i just hope they can be happy, and not have to undo any of their childhoods to that end.
