JWs Assigned to Fetch Lost Sheep Here?
by HomebutHiding ini have been pondering the whys of jws who regularly, and not-so regularly post to the board.
the possibility then struck me that maybe they are assigned--have special dispensation--to associate here in order to retrieve any "misguided" or "lost" sheep and bring them back into their fold.
or are they, thenselves, on the edge, wanting the freedom we now have?

Could this be? Or are they, thenselves, on the edge, wanting the freedom we now have? I would have been terrified into deep prayer for even considering the unfaithful act of logging on to a site such as this. HbH

News on Crisis of Conscience !
by Amazing insince 1983, the book, crisis of conscience, by raymond franz has taken on a life of its own ... translated now into many languages.
while at brci, i saw crisis of conscience in spanish, portuguese, italian and others languages, even japanese ... japan has long been the love child nation that the watchtower uses to beat the western jws over the head ... more than this, though ... .
crisis of conscience is now in its fourth edition, being revised in april 2002 !!!

I still have not read CofC. I have made half-hearted attempts to locate the book at B&N and other retailers. I will order it today.

I am obviously out of rythym with the rest of the posters. When I log on, I have to play catch up. I dislike words like "good," and "bad." They have too much power and say too many things. Men, as well as women, are a number of thinbgs all at once. We are human. We have this annoying need to label everyone...everything. Once we do that, we are wrong. End of story

Does religion have to be boring?
by kenpodragon inwhen i left the jehovah's witnesses, i spent a couple of months attending local christian churches.
my wife and i did this because we thought the christian path was still ours.
later we learned that our path went in a far different direction.. .

Francois; Israelite's Jehovah had a wife? Not only have I not heard this from any of the chuches, I e also have not heard it on The learning Channel or Discovery Channel. Can you locate a source of that info for me? This is something I need to share. Thank you. HbH
A thought on topic: No freedom of movement, no props, no allowance for freedom of personal expression, no wonder so much anger and depression among the ranks. I recall being chastized for harmonizing during the singing of songs at meetings. I was trained vocally, and those melodies were impossible to sing, for the most part. It seems i was drawing attention to myself by singing the written harmony line which was, of course, a no-no.

LOST YOUR FAITH?
by QUANTUM ini feel like i'm watching a movie.
reading these posts seems to transform reality into a time and a land which exists partly in a haze of real and where am i now.

Quantum,
Do you get to count time for all this preaching? Just wondering. Actually, that was mean-spirited. I am not here to doubt your sincerity. I am similarly annoyed with the salesperson who nails me at the store entrance with "May I help you?" When I want help, I will ask. Same applies, only more so, when it comes to direction in my spiritual life. Your advice was unsolicited, longwinded preaching. I found it offensive, and at places, repulsive. HbH.

I THINK I'M HAVING A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN
by MarchOn ino.k, now that i have your attention, things are getting very ugly in here, uglier than usual.
it is really starting to bum some people out, including me.
so with that in mind, i thought it would be nice to start a thread about something that feels good.

Quantum is suggesting that we trade in one set of vocabulary words for another. It's just more jargon. Each time he responded, Quantum just dished out more and more...as if he couldn't control it...as if he were a JW...as if he went from the fire into the frying pan (or is it frying pan into the fire?) We have all been preached at, in spades...and we have done our share of preaching. We understand the zeal, the "fire" under his butt. We don't choose to get too warm. Uhh, by "we", I mean "I"...I can't presume to speak for anyone else here...HbH.

Are All Organized Religions Cults?
by HomebutHiding ineven though it has been years since i last stepped into a kingdom hall, it is only recently that i have accepted the idea that the jws are a cult.
the word cult has such a horrible connotation, i mentally reserved it for the most overtly offensive groups.
then, last evening, i went to mass with my husband.

Thank you, all of you, for your replies. I especially like, and will carry with me, gsx's "If it doesn't feel right, then don't do it." I am still searching for what DOES feel right. Yesterday, while grocery shopping, a horrible thought nearly overtook me: What if the JWs are RIGHT? I then, among all of mankind, am in the most precarious of positions. I am still thinking "in the box." Still looking for definitive yes/no answers to everything. Still want to be a robot on some levels. I am working to get out of that habit....that harmful way of thinking. I'll get there. I go to church with Andrew to keep him company (I like being with him) and for the music. I am attracted to the music, as well as the "oldness" of the liturgy. Beyond that, I have to figuratively put my fingers in my ears and chant, "la la la la la." HbH.
