My experience was similar to yours after 30 years of marriage ( PMS , left three times). From my experience and in my opinion, Odrade's post is on the money.

My Wife Just Left Me Because of the Evil Watchtower
by rassillon inthis is very difficult to write because i am crying.
i am normally not the kind of person you will ever see cry because things don't affect me that much but this has got to be the hardest things i have ever went through.. i just got through discussing with my wife my feelings.
i guess it has been hard to hid some of the things that i have felt since i have learned that many of the wt teachings are false.

Big Question
by choosing life ini know there may not be an answer to this question, but i am truly interested in other's views.
i know many are of various beliefs and some do not believe in god at all.. the question is: why does god not stop the suffering?
i watch so many suffer for no reason and no matter how i try to figure it out, i always come back to the fact that a loving parent would not allow their child to suffer needlessly.

"If nothing is permanent, how can permanence be realized?" daystar, how can a man return to a place he never left ?
"You were the one who said permanence must be realized, Siddha. Yet, permanence is an illusion, which I agree with. You are saying things that sound erudite, but yet are nonsense, and not in a good way."
daystar, if I say you are complimenting me it would seem like more nonsense yet, you are complimenting me.

" Buddhism tells us to detach ourselves from the source, to remove ourselves from the equation, rather than face reality as it is. It is little more than popular escapism."
daystar, there is one thing I think we can agree on: what we consider reality is ever changing, there is nothing permanent. The realization of the "permanent" is enlightment . If that realization were not a fact of experience , I would agree with you and with Terry. I can't answer for all the Buddhists to which you refer but I understand what some of them are doing. We are talking about "doing " not about thinking. The worst possible approach to all this is to take an immovable philosophical position. Permanence is not something we think it is something that is.

"Buddhist philosophy is essentially that of pretending that something such as suffering "doesn't exist, doesn't matter" and disregarding the consequences."
Ignorance by any other name is still ignorance.

Lest we forget who we are asking to end suffering.
"And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the Lord, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the Lord had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter." 1 Samuel 6:19
"And they warred against the Midianites, as the Lord commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.... And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, with the captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle. And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive? .... Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves." Numbers 31
And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the Lord: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them." Jeremiah 13:14
"Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up." Hosea 13:16
" Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones." ps 137:9
"Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces." mal 2:3

The problem is how to end suffering. What you learn from suffering does not end it. What you ascribe to god about suffering does not end it. How to end it is the problem. Siddhartha Gautama , know as the Buddha ("AWAKENED") , claims to have solved the problem of how to end suffering. Why not find out how Siddhartha did it ?

Strength of will and spirituality are not the qualities that mainstream religions encourage in potential leaders. These qualities lacking, moral failure is certain. Ambition is what they encourage.

by Chameleon infor those of you that don't know my story, read my first post here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/122526/1.ashx
so, i think next week is when i find out if i am approved to be an ms. if not, thank god, but if i am, i'm in deep crap.
elder dad is confident that i'll accept, but my plan is to try to get out of it by saying that i want to finish school and get an aa degree, at least, before accepting more responsibilities.

I think Little Toe has given excellent advice. You might add that you appreciate the awesome responsibility and would like to talk about it again in say 6 months etc. That demonstrates a noncombative attitude and helps everyone continue to see you in a positive light, as on their side.

Why are we so mad????
by megsmomma inhttp://religiousmovements.lib.virginia.edu/profiles/listalpha.htm my hubby and i are thinking of going to a church.....it is about the right time for us.
we were trying to figure out which religion is suited for us and he found this site.
it is interesting that the description an jw's say that it is unusual that when people leave them....there is alot of resentment, unlike other religions.. i think it is due to the brainwashing....when you have believed something blindly, then discover you were decieved...it is worse than if you are a part of a religion where you can believe all they teach...or not.
