To believe, not to believe, to understand. Interesting.
I think the way it's supposed to work when the process is reversed is:
not to believe, to believe, to be.
alternative 1 ---believe.
alternative 2---don't believe.
alternative 3 ---go beyond believe and don't believe .

i am sure this topic has been brought up many times here but i don't always have the oppertunity to read all the posts so i am going to raise it again.. i went to the meeting the other day with my wife and this came up in the talk.
the speaker saying how improtant it was to have the right bible to get the most out of bible reading.
the right bible being the nwt of course because it uses the divine name which we all know is jehovah...or yahweh.
I agree with most of what Eduardo and Alan said. I don't think that I can agree the pronunciation isn't important, though. I think that's why, as Farkel and others pointed out, since Jesus didn't use God's Name when he prayed we shouldn't either. We don't know how to say it.
Sieg and I both have names that are difficult to pronounce and we correct people when they don't say them right...or, if strangers call who are probably telemarketers and they screw up our name(s) (which happens often) we tell them that person doesn't live here.
Lea (my nickname)
the reason that i am a little afraid is that four out of my five grown children are still jws and if they knew that i was on here.....well nothing would change, would it, they don't speak to me now.
ok, i talked myself out of being afraid.
lol .
You did all answer the door
.
think about it.. we were the only kids that hated weekends, all the other kids got to stay at home and watch cartoons, we had to pound the pavement and get up early sunday for the boring meetings.. any thoughts.
You poor babies! Really, I mean that. As a non JW kid Saturday mornings meant CARTOONS and Sundays were bisquits and gravy. I feel so bad for you. I'm glad I didn't make my kids go through that more than a little bit.
well i have just lived through one of the worst weekends of my life.
something i never want to happen again.. let see if i can tell this and make some sense.. (sorry emotions are still running high).
we found out we got a house in the north side of canberra so saturday morning we spent moving furniture etc up there.
kelpie, I'm sorry that you're having to go through such a stressful situation. Am I mistaken to think that some knuckleheads in Australia cause those fires? I would want to burn those buttheads if that's the case. It's pathetic that some people would make life so miserable for others.

i want to raise this serious question: should religion be exempt from normal societal ethical standards?.
i'm raising this question for several reasons.
there is a recent thread where people are arguing about whether religious confessions should be privileged communications.
The government does have laws that make child molestation/abuse a crime. Religions should not be exempt from reporting crimes.
The book of the Christian religion (for example) explicitly states that it's adherents are to be subjected to the superior authorities. When they don't subject themselves to those laws, they aren't living according to the tenents of their religion, and shouldn't be spared from the "sword" that that governments have been given (according to their own book).
I'm not sure about other religions, but since the loudest naysayers of secular interference in the US are the Christians because they claim this government is based on Biblical principals, I have to say that they are deluded and wrong if they think they should be allowed special privileges.

ladies!
here are 5 secrets to a great relationship that every woman needs to know
1. it is important to find a man who works around the house, occasionally cooks and cleans and who has a job.
LOL I've found these four men in one. THAT'S the secret to happiness.
okay folks,.
this below or the blue eyeshadow ??.
the show is irritating enough.
I've never seen the show, but I don't think that the blue eyeshadow makes her appear to be trashy. Therefore, I can only assume that the way she presents herself is what does it.
On the subject of the Osbornes, I never liked Ozzie (although I always thought he was cute) until watching the show. The Osbornes are my favorite disfunctional family and Ozzie (now old and not cute) is a pretty cool dad.
