Dakota, What I don't understand is what this has to do with the left wing in the US. Didn't this event happen in London? Why should all the antiwar people take the rap for this, specifically those of us who live in the US?

I don't agree with not letting reasonable people with different opinions have their say, and I'm sure that many other people who aren't are suspicious of and not in support of the upcoming war feel the same way.

I respect your opinion because you don't seem to be completely taken by the rhetoric coming from the far right, but I don't agree with you trying to lump us all into the same mold. People are people and they have different opinions and different ways of expressing them. I don't understand why you are using an event that happened in London to cast an unflattering light on the people here in the US that share the antiwar sentiments of those in London. Just because we might agree with the sentiment doesn't mean we agree with the tactics.

Let me tell you something Sanddigger. I don't know if you used to be a JW or not, but the way that we were brainwashed was by believing every word written in the WT and Awake magazine. Right now, in this country the Rev MOON is involved in a media campaign designed to vilify and dehumanize everyone who doesn't agree with the *cough* "moral majority", right wing fundamentalist fascists that have control of our government. It seems to me that everyone who believes every bit of pap that comes from the MOON CONTROLED media is allowing the same thing to happen to them that they allowed the WTS to do.

I am NOT a democrat, I do NOT agree with partial birth abortions but I DON'T agree with the course of this current administration in regard to many things...the war being one of them. The way that Mucky Moonie has presented "her opinion" (and I say that loosely since it sounds EXACTLY the same drivel that is constantly spouted by other sheeples..ie. the crap coming from the MOON cult) is offensive and downright STUPID in it's content. What kind of people believe that bullshit? Brainwashed people, that's who.

It's a good thing, in my opinion, that the issue of partial birth abortions is being addressed now. It's just too bad that the Republican politicians (paid for by the MOONIES) didn't do anything about it YEARS ago when Clinton was in office.

Get off your high horse and take a gander at REALITY.

The Republican Party doesn't really care about Abortion

There are a lot of Republican Party posers who say they're pro-life who really aren't. They make a big deal about "partial birth abortions" yet pass up opportunities to actually do something about it. President Clinton has said he would pass a ban on partial birth abortions if it had an exception for the life and health of the mother. That way a woman who is in a car accident can get an abortion if she and the baby are seriously injured, but she might not actually die from it. Clinton signed a law like that when he was governor of Arkansas.

You think the Republican Party actually cares about life? Ha! Ha! Ha!

But do these so called pro life Republicans go for it? Of course not. If they gave Clinton a bill like that he would sign it and the Republicans would lose a political weapon. The Republicans want to make sure they send him abortion bills they know he won't sign so that they can point their crooked little fingers at him and pose as being morally superior. Anyone who thinks the Republican party gives a damn about life -- well, I have a Christian amusement park to sell ya.

How does it make us Republicans look when our former president is selling out to the Moonies? I sure as hell don't want to become a mind slave to Reverend Sun Myung Moon and I damn sure am going to stand against the Moonies attempt to control the Press, the Christian Coalition, and the Republican Party.

It will be a cold day in Hell before I surrender control of the Republican Party to Sun Myung Moon!

Jesus, The Heart, And The Entry Level Spirit Thing...

i know that we have some who post to this board who have left the wts and are now committed christians, something it was difficult for them to be as jehovahs witnesses!.

i have always been puzzled at the experiences of those who seem to pray and ask jesus to enter their hearts and report a great event taking place.

what exactly happened to you?

Hillary, I had an experience. It happened right before I took the teachings of the borg to heart.

I was at a point in my life when I was more confused than I'd ever been in my life. I'd always believed in God from the time I was a child. (I remember once when I was about 4 or 5 I was outside during the summer and it was very hot. I decided to do a "rain dance", but I clearly remember that while I was doing it I was thinking about God and Jesus. The next thing I knew it started drizzling, on a clear sunny day. It stopped in a matter of minutes, but I remember feeling like God was watching me and smiling. Strange, huh?)

Anyway, on this particular night I was trying to read the Bible, but it seemed like all the bad stuff applied to me. I didn't feel connected to the message of hope, but the message of judgment. I was upset and turned off the light to go to sleep, praying to God that He would help me. Within about 10 minutes of turning off the light and starting my prayer, I saw a flame of fire in my "minds eye". It was accompanied by a "swooshing" noise. It freaked me out, and I turned on the light. I then picked up my Bible (it was the Jerusalem Bible) and started reading 2John. It felt like it was written for me. I'd never had that sort of connection to the Bible before. I kept reading, and I felt like it all was written for me!

That night I had a "vision" (I didn't and still don't believe I was asleep) that I don't really want to get into at this point because I still don't fully understand what it meant.

Anyway, the next day I called the JW I'd studied with off and on and started studying in earnest. The following years where spent struggling with the issues involving whether I should write off my "experience" and totally buy into the WTS' spiel regarding the "annointed" or putting trust in what had happened. As you can see by my presence here I decided not to dis God or putting faith in Him and I left them after I clearly saw that their teachings were "inspired of demons".

I have the distinct impression that I was "handed over to Satan" in a sense, to learn discipline.

Please don't flame me, people.

I've realized a couple of things in my life, and I believe them too.

One of the things I've realized is that my beliefs can be subject to change. When I believe something is true and it's later proven to be false, then what I believed wasn't reality. I've realized that my beliefs aren't neccessarily reality, so I have no problem with understanding what you are saying about that.

The main thing that I've realized is that the Word isn't written in a book, it is the Name that can't be named.

The Word is the Way that can't be told. By that realization I've come closer to understanding the connection between my ego and Ego. I've also realized that my explanation of what I've come to realize is the Way is very inadequate in that I can't explain to you what I'm talking about. LOL

Basically what I've realized is that no matter what anyone calls it, "enlightenment" ultimately comes down to and is defined in "self" realization.
