  ok, now that i have your attention!

  just wanted to share a reading from church today, i could not help but sit and think about the new world translation, and wondered if jw's are able to "get this" from that book.

  This is how the NWT reads at Phillipians 2:1-11

  What funny "Saying" do you sometimes use?

  here in quebec, one funny expression people say is "donne a manger a un cochon, et il viendra chier sur ton perron" .

  word for word in english this would mean: feed a pig, and he will shit on your porch.

  in other words, sometimes you try to be nice to people, and they don't always try to be nice to you in return.. .

  Is Satan running the WTS. What say you?

  so what evidence is there that satan is running the wtb&ts instead of god?.

  what are their proofs that god is running the show and what evidence is there that god is not running the show.. could be interesting to see what we can all come up with.

  The best evidence to me is the same reason that I left them.

  They claim to be locust from the pit in Revelation 9 whose king is the angel of the pit Abaddon. If locusts that hurt people are good and "The Destroyer" isn't supposed to be Satan then I just don't get the moral of the story...and don't think I want to...

  talesin, Hi! I don't believe that any people here "worship" Alan F. I think I've called him "my hero" to someone in a kidding sort of way...and if I were to have a hero, why not Alan F?

  I used to be put off my what I considered to be a caustic style (I think he's mellowed out a bit the last couple of years) but when I really started reading what he was writing my perception of him changed.

  I admire him because he patiently explains his point and disputes his oponent's point in a manner that makes it fairly easy to understand complex material. I mean if someone can help me grasp any of the 607/587 dispute that person's a freakin' genius as far as I'm concerned. And seriously, the way that he presents his argument does reflect that quality to a large degree.

  From what I've seen, the people that are debating with Alan usually get their digs in too so I don't see why they can't take some of their own medicine. Just because Alan's better at it doesn't mean he should take all the heat for such exchanges, IMO.

  What Happened?

  you know everyday something goes on around you - at home, at work, when you are travelling, on holidays.. .

  are people concerned about you today?

  is there a way when things happen and you are not sure what to do that others who have been in a similar situation be able to help you?

  I've seen people fall out on the street twice in my life.

  The first time my son's and I were walking in the downtown area where we used to live. I sent one of the boys into a store to have someone call 911 and stayed with her until the ambulance arrived. Her problem was she had a seizure.

  The second time I was working as a vendor at the Mummers Day Parade in Philadelphia. A women fell out right next to my cart. I flagged down a cop and then gave him some paper or something out of my cart for him to press up against a cut she had on her head from falling. I'm not sure what her deal was - they took her away in an ambulance before she regained consciousness.

  I don't think I could just walk away from a situation like that. I would probably made sure that an ambulance was called before I left the situation if I couldn't stay with her.

  As far as the cops doing bad things, that may be true in some cases, but I think the majority of them do try to do a good job. Maybe you're still suffering from post-dub paranoia. Policemen aren't perfect by a longshot, but most of them aren't monsters either.
