Dangerous Stuff!

i'm including a partial quote of an article posted by tallyman on kents website.

now most of you who know me are aware that i don't have a great deal of regard for the watchtower corporation.

but this kind of extremism scares me.. "i am in need of references to watchtower publications that contain images of united states government buildings, especially the white house- depicted as being violently destroyed by the watchtower society.. i have much of the wt literature pre-1992, and a bit of the post-1992 stuff, but it is such a tremendous task to sift through all this literature to find these watchtower-generated images of destruction of u. s. government property and buildings, as well as the text or captions accompanying such.. please send me the name of the watchtower publication and page number and i will scan it and am in the process of making a webpage which will contain all the seditious material i can compile on the watchtower.

Yes, I guess I do understand. If you knew that it was a lie and still preached it, you were wrong. I stopped preaching as soon as I realized they were lying about some things, so I don't consider myself to be guilty. When I did it, I was in error true, but I didn't realize my error at the time.
If you've done what you could to reach those that you misled to the point of baptism (which I tried to do, to no avail) then don't you think you are free from the guilt? You confessed you 'sins' and left them...I wish you wouldn't feel so guilty...guilt isn't a good thing.

Here's an example of the backward thinking that JW's aren't supposed to question. From the Sept.1, 2001 Watchtower. True Worship Unites People p.5 subheading Worldwide Unity in Our Time
"A remarkable prophesy in the Bible book of Zephaniah speaks of the coming together of people of diverse backgrounds. It states: 'The I (Jehovah God) shall give to peoples the change to the pure language, in order for them all to call on the name of Jehovah, in order to serve him shoulder to shoulder.' Zephaniah 3:9 What a beautiful picture this is of changed people serving God in unity!
When was this to happen? Zephaniah 3:8 says: "'Keep yourselves in expectation of me,' is the utterance of Jehovah, 'till the day of my rising up to the booty, for my judicial decision is to gather nations, for me to collect together kingdoms, in order to pour out upon them my denunciations, all my burning anger; for by the fire of my zeal all the earth will be devoured.'" Yes, during the time that Jehovah is gathering the nations but BEFORE (my caps) he pours out upon them his burning anger, he gives to the meek ones a pure language. That time is now, for the gathering of all the nations to the war of the great day of God the Almighty at Armegeddon is already under way. -Revelation 16:14, 16

***Now am I crazy, or does Zephaniah 8 actually come BEFORE Zephaniah 9 and not the other way around? The denunciation comes BEFORE the pure language if you read it forward and not backward. At the very least, it comes at the same time.

You're wrong. JW's have never been allowed to think for themselves. It's always been frowned upon and leads to apostacy. When I left, I told the elders what I had discovered from the Bible regarding false teachings. At that time it was regarding the identity of Abaddon and the celebration of birthdays. The first thing they asked me was if I'd been reading other literature. I told them no, that I had only been reading the Bible. They told me that it was dangerous to do that on my own. I don't think they believed me anyway. This was 16 years ago.
The funny thing is that their own Bible testifies to the fact that Job's children celebrated birthdays, even though they specifically denied it at the time. There are some Bibles that call the celebration that Job's kids had birthdays, which is why they included a denial of that in their teachings. Now I think that they skip over the question about what is in Job and say that birthdays are only mentioned in 2 places and it was unbelievers that held them. Not so. Compare in the NWT Job 1:4 Job 3:1 Ecclesiates 7:1,2

Sixofnine, You ask for 'facts' to prove that God is the Source of the Bible. Can I ask you something? What is the 'source' of what you believe? What is the 'source' of your doubt? Can you provide 'facts' to prove that what you believe is true? Isn't faith a matter of perception?
To those that have 'faith' in the Bible, it makes perfect sense. To those who don't have that 'faith' it is nonsense. To those who subscribe to atheism, their way makes sense because they say it is based on factual evidence. Yet most of this 'evidence' is actually the perception of other men. How many of you have seen any of this 'evidence' with your own eyes? Aren't you really putting trust in another mans assessment of it? Aren't YOU in fact putting FAITH in the inspiration and/or intellect of other men?
How can you prove or disprove the inspiration of men other than to see whether it itself PROVES to be true? From what I understand, the prophesies of the Bible have proved to be true in the past. The way that the world is going is still proving that what the Bible says is true.
The Bible says that the way of men apart from God only leads to destruction. Hasn't this been proven time and time again and is still being proven? Can you think of anything that men can do of their own initiative that leads to peace, prosperity, fairness, and happiness for all men? If they CAN do that on their own, why is the world such a screwed up place? Don't say because of religion either, because although some of the destructive things have occured in the name of religion, so too have destructive things occured by the will of those without religion.
The Bible says that these things are actually the desire of men, not God. Can you show me any 'facts' that prove that what you believe will lead to anything beneficial for anyone?

Post WTBTS Life

i have been inactive for about three and a half years now and just recently after making some big changes in my life have i made a commitment not to return to the "organization".

for quite awhile now i've just felt like i was apathetic towards religion.

now i'm disgusted by religion, religious dogma, and fanaticism.. one thing that i've noticed in those i deal with that are ex-witnesses is that many tend to swing the exact opposite direction once they leave.

Angst, Hi, I'm glad to hear that you have decided to sever your ties with the WTBTS. Regarding your comment about the reaction of ex JW's I can only speak from my own perspective. When I left them (because I realized from the Bible that they were making some serious doctrinal errors) I reverted back to my immoral lifestyle for a time. It wasn't a reaction to freedom, it was a reaction to being shattered. I was so glad when I had given up the drugs and sexual immorality when I became a witness and I never intended to go back to it. When I was spiritually shattered by realizing they were wrong, I guess I started medicating myself again. I got reinvolved with a bad man that I had known previously. I think I was seeking comfort in that which I was familiar. Thanks to Christ, Yahweh took pity on my state and put me back together again. It took awhile though. Even after I stopped doing the drugs again and left the bad man, I still drank too much and had sex with my boyfriend(s). I didn't doubt that what the Spirit had shown me was true, I doubted my assessment of it. That was MY problem anyway. He has shown me the way though, and directed my course. I'm now well on my way to recovery and don't feel the SELF doubt that I felt for so long after leaving them. I'm married to a man who loves me and who supports and appreciates my spirituality. I've learned alot from this experience and now know that He loves EVERYONE who seeks him in Spirit and Truth. Most JW's seek Him in an earthly organization. Hopefully those that are sincere will get out safely.

Our first parents had it pretty darned good in the Garden. They didn't need anything. Why would they want to know BAD? After they ate they knew the difference, because all that they had after that was bad. They felt ashamed and afraid. They had to toil and struggle for everything. And they had to die.
They were already made in God's image. They were already complete. When they decided that they wanted to know BAD they became incomplete. They couldn't bring forth GOOD by disobedience to GOOD. They couldn't KNOW good by rejecting it in disobedience. God is GOOD. Without God is BAD. All they could know at that point was that they had formerly known GOOD and now they knew BAD. BAD is not IN God, it is APART from Him. He sets the boundaries. He defines the extremities. They had to wait on the promised Seed that would crush the lie. Satan said "you positively will not die". He lied.

In order for the fruit to be born, the seed has to die. Death is an integral part of the creation of life. They could never again be like God without dying. And only the seed that hits the mark bears the good fruit. The rest of them either don't fertilize or they don't bear fruit. God did not lie, Satan did.

Genesis 2:3 And God proceeded to bless the seventh day and make it sacred, because on that day He has been resting from all His work that God has created FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING.

My husband is smoking pot

i know this is not witness related but i just caught my husband smoking pot.

i am so upset !!!

he is an alcoholic and has a terrible temper.

In my opinion, alcohol causes more problems than pot. Most people who only smoke pot, and don't drink, are usually pretty chilled out. They might have some memory problems, but don't we all? I left my husband a few years ago because of his drinking. He lied constantly, was abusive and irresponsible. After I left, he went into a rehab and straightened up. He got involved with AA and our life is now pretty great. We still have problems, but now we handle them as a team instead of my having to deal with everything. If I were you, I would not focus on the pot smoking, but make some decisions about whether you want to spend the rest of your life with an alcoholic. If he doesn't get help for that problem, your life will not get any better.
