NEWS: I am publicly reproved over UN situation.
by badwillie inmy wife and i met with 3 elders for a "judicial hearing".. our crime: simply put, was talking.
i showed a friend the un website where the wts was listed as an ngo which then led to a 2 hour discussion of various doubts that we both have had.
my wife also showed a friend the un thing but also discussed with her a first hand account of a pedophile cover-up that we knew about in our former congregation.

What I've been thinking about it is that the 666 represents man trying to prove to be something of his own creation rather than God's. The sixth day was the completion of God's work that He had created for the purpose of creating. The seventh day is His day of rest. The 666 represents man who has not rested from his own works. I've never heard of 616 being used...where can I find this info?

Persuasion: Did we forget what we learned as JWs?
by larc inas jws we learned a lot about persuasion and how to get people to accept our ideas.
we had role plays on over coming objections.
we were taught how to anticipate typical questions and respond to them.

'I must behave like a christian should', or 'i must act kind and loving like the wt has taught me'. Their emphasis is on how they look to other people. While atheists and agnostics can just be themselves.)))
I have to disagree with this assertion. When I act like an ass or talk shit to someone, I usually feel bad because of FEELING angry toward that person. It has nothing to do with how they perceive me except that I've hurt their feelings and they might not be able to forgive me. I try to make amends when I feel like I'm wrong. There are times when I talk angrily to someone and DON'T feel bad about it. I usually try to work it out somehow though. I'm not afraid to make the first step to reconcilliation even in a situation where I don't think I was entirely wrong. I'm not worried about the APPEARANCE that I project, but the RELATIONSHIP involved.

ring, Let's suppose that the International Bible Students (WTBTS) HAD to register with the UN. Upon reading the requirements of this 'mandatory' registration that said they HAD TO SUPPORT AND PROMOTE the UN and its agencies, they should have refused. "We shall obey God rather than men."
They obviously WEREN'T mandated to register since they are now disassociated, so what does that mean? Not only did they agree to 'obey men rather than God' by agreeing to promote the activities of the 'wild beast', but they deliberately set out to do this very thing.
How on earth can the WTBTS promote 'God's Kingdom' and the kingdom of the wild beast in the same magazine without accountability? -

Victoria, The Department of Public Information is a vehicle of the UN to get their message out to, you guessed it, the public. It's only purpose in life is to do that. It informs the public of situations, solutions, etc. that exist in the world. It's called PR, or Public Relations. The Watchtower agreed to use THEIR vehicles, the publications (it appears they used AWAKE), to aid the DPI in its efforts to inform the public about the UN's efforts in these areas. Are you with me so far?
What this boils down to is that the WTBTS entered into an agreement to PROMOTE the UN's Agenda. Even though they did this in a very limited manner, (all one has to do is look at every issue of the AWAKE magazine to see SOME reference to a UN agency) the fact remains that they did do it. They became a mouthpiece FOR the UN.
It is up to the witnesses that get this info to determine how this fits in with what they've been told by the society. -

she didn't go into details, and i didn't want to push to hard about what they said.
but she mentioned that now the world leaders are starting to cry peace and security.

Actually, when they are talking about it, they are saying 'safety and security'. I only heard one person refer to 'peace and security' and I forget who that was.
